Anthony G.

Pico Rivera, CA

About Anthony

As a third generation musician, I've been playing professionally and teaching for over 25 years. I've had years of private lessons, graduated from GIT in Hollywood, taken college music courses and continue to perform, record, and teach music. YOU can have fun, learning songs that YOU like, or you can learn music theory (the explanation of music) or study different styles from rock to pop to hard core to blues, funk etc. All at YOUR pace. Many of my students, started from the point where they had never picked up an instrument and have gone on to tour or earn full music scholarships. It doe
sn't matter if it's a young girl wanting to learn some Disney Artist or some burly blue collar worker wanting to learn some Clapton: YOU can have fun learning guitar while improving at a rapid rate. Contact me, I'll make learning music and guitar a very painless process.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm serious and passionate about my students learning their instrument and becoming great musicians, however, I also want it to be an enjoyable process. You should look forward to your lessons but know I'm going to expect you to practice as well. I use a combination of my own curriculum and books that are based on the fundamentals of music. We can learn to read tablature or read traditional music. A excellent way to pick music at a quick pace is by learning songs in the style you like, while learning about the keys, scales, arpeggios, and chord construction once you're able to play some songs. After 3 or 6 months you will be playing a basic repertoire of songs that interest you while continuing to progress at a steady pace in the understanding of music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
North County Rehearsal Studio is a rehearsal hall with private lesson room, we have the amps to plug into and audio equipment so we can listen and learn from the music YOU like!!!  I can also come to YOUR house if the rehearsal located in Brea is too far.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect my students to have a guitar or bass so they can practice at home with. I could bring or provide a small practice amp and a music stand and some study materials. I teach in Orange County and I live in L.A County so If I need to come to your house I can cover a big area.

*** Specialties ***
During the course of my 20 plus years of teaching, I have had to teach individuals of all levels. I have had to teach little girls Hanna Montana, and blue collar workers--Eric Clapton. Styles include, Rock, Pop, Metal, Jazz, Rockabilly, Country, Spanish, Beginning Classical and ETC!

Best Guitar Teacher!

I am 20, and I have been taking lessons with tony for almost 4 month. He really is a great teacher. He really makes guitar easy to learn and always give you confidence about learning new things. He is cool and nice, able to get you through all kinds of difficulties of learning guitar. Give hime a shot, if you really want to play guitar. He is better than any Youtube or on-line stuff.

Learning violin will be fun and rewarding for my students.

My teaching method is from The Juilliard School of Music, lessons are specifically designed to fit individual students age, background, strength and personality. In my classes, not only students are taught how to play the violin, they are also taught ear training, sight-reading, music theory, and performance skills; Most important, students are also taught self-confidence, discipline, appreciation of the arts, and the pride that comes from a job well done.

Every year, my students have the opportunity to perform in different concert settings, participate in our annual summer concerts, take national music exams, and audition with many orchestras and music schools.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The studio lessons are taught in the living room which is converted into a quiet and comfy home studio. The room includes a piano, violin, flat screen TV, and seating is available.

*** Specialties ***
My teaching method is mainly following The Juilliard School of Music, and I also combine it with the Suzuki method, especially for younger students.

I really appreciate Lucy Lu, my violin teacher. she is what one would expect for a violin teacher specially if you're like me 68 years and no experience whatsoever with the instrument. Had I stayed in Los Angeles, I see no problem in continuing taking lessons from her because I know that sooner or later, I would learn despite my busy schedule as a tax accountant. Thank you Lucy. I will miss you.

Lucy is a great teacher

I have been taking lessons with Lucy for about 6 months now and she has been an amazing teacher. She is very patient and professional. She has taught me quite a bit in regards to playing the violin. If I hadn't moved I would still be taking lessons with Lucy.

my son asked for lessons. we started with just 10 lessons & now he's pushing me to get him to lessons! Kristin has been patient & sweet, yet understands that my son has a different way of thinking than most kids. she's adapted her teaching to his way of learning. i would absolutely suggest her for anyone in their early lessons of piano. i'll write another review when my son gets out of the beginner's level :)

Jason L.

Whittier, CA

About Jason

I have played Clarinet for 15 years, and taught for 2. Currently I am pursuing a Bachelors of Music in Performance and Instrumental Education at California State University-Long Beach. My previous instructors include Mr. Paul Bambach at the University of California-Santa Barbara, Ms. Amanda Walker from UC-Irvine, and Dr. David Lopez at Cerritos College. Currently I study with Dr. Michael Grego at CSULB.

Over the years of my own private instruction, I have been taught in manners which both help foster self analysis within the student, and maintain some of the standard development of techniq
ue and control; all while making the experience enjoyable and fun to continue the growth of appreciation for this craft. This is a method I try to implement when teaching clarinet, or music theory to a student, as I feel it is the most effective.
