I am a professional cellist with years of performing and teaching.
I attended the Jacobs School of Music for my undergraduate and masters' degrees and was a graduate teaching assistant. I also received my Stott Pilates Teaching Certification while at IU and incorporate postural alignment into my teaching. I have Suzuki certification and work on a strong technical foundation, which both facilitates performing and frees us up to explore non-traditional techniques and other genres.
Most importantly, I strive to nurture the love and passion for music and cello and I am here to help you achieve your musical goals.
About Maria
I teach cellists of all ages and abilities and tailor the lesson to the individual. Lessons include standard repertoire, and if requested, non-traditional styles as well. I have experience with solo repertoire, orchestra, chamber music, and folk music, and can help you develop your ear and even sin

Music theory provides musicians with a deeper understanding of the building blocks and underlying structure of music. By learning about music notation, chords and harmony, and the musical tradition of various performance eras, we can do many other aspects of music even better--perform, compose, improvise, transcribe, and direct.
I teach Music Theory I and II at the University of Louisville.

Book NowHello! I have several years of experience teaching piano to high-school and college students, both at an intermediate and advanced level. I began learning piano at age 6, and have played competitively, performed in various classical recitals, performed in a jazz ensemble, and accompanied both choirs and orchestras.
I have plenty of practice material and songs ranging from beginner to advanced. I have the mindset that the student should enjoy what they are playing, so we'll look for music that you wish to play, and music that is progressively challenging. You won't be expected to buy any music materials for our lessons.
I'm looking for any student who wants to build a healthy and enjoyable relationship with piano that they will keep throughout their lives.
About Dustin
I'm 26 years old, work a full-time computer job, and live in Polaris, Ohio in a cozy apartment near the Polaris mall. I have experience tutoring since High School, with emphasis on piano, economics, and mathematics. In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, hiking, visiting parks, and watching TV shows

I specialize in teaching music theory to people that want to play pop, rock, hip hop, country, and blues music. From Black Sabbath, to Taylor Swift, to Bone Thugs in Harmony, the same set of "rules" are being used. Understanding the classical "rules" allows you to recognize and adapt to the way rock and roll "breaks them," and why that is great.
About Scotty
I am an established performer having played in such bands as BigDamnCrazyWeight, Bring Back Dad and most recently, guitarist for Guadalupe Blue. I studied Music Theory at New Mexico State University with the amazing Dr. Don Hardisty and Composition with Dr. Warner Hutchison. I am passionate about m

Scotty is a excellent teacher.
I've been learning bass from him and he is very knowledgeable in everything from the history of music, theory, techniques and much more.
I've been taking lessons from Scotty for over a year and have learned a lot about theory, form, and style. Had taken lessons from other instructors and felt that I should had been further along after 1 year. One hour lesson time is perfect for me and I always leave wishing I had more time.
Great teacher takes time to cover theory of music, and does hour lessons unlike most teachers in town who do 30min lessons. Have taken lessons from other teachers in the past, and all they do is teach you songs without explaining the reasoning behind it. Have learned more in the last few months then Iâve learn in years with other teachers.

Book NowI have spent 37 years teaching Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade music, using an active program of singing, moving, playing, improvising and performing. I follow the principles of the Orff-Schulwerk process of teaching children, but also draw upon my technical and artistic background as a performer: Voice, Cello, Recorder (all voices), Native American-style Flute, Piano, Guitar and the Bass Viola da gamba (I teach all of these privately, as well, up through adult learners). Skills and repertoire are taught with an Historic and Cultural sensibility, especially drawing tunes and activities from the cultural and personal interest of my students. If your children are home-schooled, I would love to work with them and keep the music curriculum going!
About Anne
I love working with young students, to get them started on the path to becoming Musical People. Whether I'm teaching them to play one specific instrument, helping them develop their singing voices, or leading them through a performance-based curriculum based upon The National Standards of Music Ed

4-5 months in, I can confidently say that I'm loving him as my keyboard instructor! He personally encouraged me to practice using the music that I love, while blending it with his teaching to exactly point out on how one needs to approach these things. He's been really flexible in terms of scheduling during this time and that has also allowed me to come to class when I'm at 100%.
I don't know if my keyboard abilities are next level compared to when I started (it has improved), but I'm certainly enjoying this process!"

Thank you,

I have greatly enjoyed my lessons with Joan H.! She is extremely knowledgeable in music and a gifted pianist herself. Her instruction has been incredibly helpful and I've seen immediate improvement in my piano skills and abilities. Joan is kind, patient, and encouraging and her studio is the perfect place to receive personal instruction. I highly recommend Joan H.!"
