"Eric J is really helping me improve my voice. I’m singing songs I never ever imagined I would be able to sing in such a short time. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge of the voice with us. He doesn’t limit you. He teaches you that you can sing whatever you love if you practice everyday and put the work in. I’ve seen a huge difference in my voice over the few months I’ve been regularly taking his classes."

"I would highly recommend Zak if you are looking for a piano instructor. He is not only a very talented musician, but an exceptional teacher. My son was a beginner piano student at 11 years old and Zak was able to create lessons that not only held his interest but had him begging for longer and more frequent lessons. Zak took input from my son about what he was interested in and tailored his lessons to meet my sons needs. My son learned more than just how to play songs. Zak taught music theory, cord progressions, proper posture on the piano bench and so many other things that go into playing beautifully. My son is interested in composing and Zak, as an accomplished composer was able to give him invaluable insight and feedback. We feel very lucky to have had him as a teacher and highly recommend him."

"This tutoring session was probably the best I have ever had. I am taking a Music 101 course in which I am finding myself having trouble with. I took up tutoring with Stephen and he really broke down the steps. Sometimes, I do not understand things the first time when they are explained to me; and reading music happens to be one of them. However, I am very lucky to have Stephen as my tutor who is very patient in explaining the lesson to me. If you want a tutor who is patient and willing to invest time in helping you understand music, I highly recommend that you take Stephen."

He doesn’t just teach mechanics, he teaches you the how and the understanding so you come away with more than the knowledge of how to play a few songs. He tailors the curriculum and home practice around the student’s unique interests to blend enjoyment and knowledge in a way that keeps you excited about music!"

Strategies for Sight Singing

It may seem like instrumentalists have it much easier when it comes to sight reading music; by simply pressing a key or a string, the notes are immediately available to them without any additional thought, and all that’s left to them is to work out duration, dynamics, and tempo. Singers, on the other hand, don't have an instrument to rely on. Taking a song previously unknown to you and delivering a reasonably accurate performance the very first run-through isn’t a talent that everybody ha …
