Purdys Music Lessons for Teens

I am a flautist with over 12 years of experience; performing as a soloist, in an orchestral setting and with jazz ensembles. I hold a Licentiate (LTCL) Diploma (2009) and a Grade 8 Certificate on Flute (2008) from Trinity College London.

I focus on the fundamentals (tone, technique and timing) using my own personalized approach to methods such as long tones, scales/ arpeggios and technical studies. I also allow students to be creative and express themselves through the art of music.

For classical guitar the first thing I do when I meet a student is to interview the student and find out why they want to learn how to play the guitar and what are some of their goals. Then I find out what style of music they would like to learn. I have the student come up with ten songs they would like to learn. I take this information and structure future guitar lessons around the essential elements of these songs. I design each lesson to teach the specific skills required to learn those songs. I create an organized binder guitar workbook and having a teaching degree I create all of the lessons to meet each students individual needs that include lessons on theory, technique, chords, rhythm, scales, arpeggios, songs, song form, and exercises etc. I use a color coded method to teach scales, chords and theory that I created that help students not only understand scales but also they are able to see visually where chords come from. I teach students theory, and a very simple way, and they do well in tests such as ABRSM or any conservatory level theory exam.

The Singing Track offers flexibility for the singer who just loves to sing many styles! In addition to Broadway and Classical, I have taught pop, acoustic, rock, R&B, techno, and karaoke singers! Whatever your style, I'll help you reach your singing goals!

You will learn vocal technique tailored to your needs. Some areas we may focus on include vowel shape, space, breath support, forward placement, register blending, muscle relaxation, and vocal anatomy.

A fully trained and registered Suzuki cello teacher. Teaching cello to students at any age and any level. 8 years of teaching experience.
Teaching mainly according to the Suzuki Method. Beginners will be starting from basics to build a solid foundation to become a complete cellist and a knowledgable musician. More importantly, to enjoy the fun of cello playing and beauty of music making along the way!
