The Suzuki movement changed the face of music education mid-20th century. Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki wanted an accessible lesson style for young children that stressed a positive, nurturing environment mimicking the way an infant learns their native language.
From Suzuki himself: "I want to make good citizens. If a child hears fine music from the day of his birth and learns to play it himself, he develops sensitivity, discipline and endurance. He gets a beautiful heart."

I have been performing music almost as long as I have been walking and talking. My parents are both professional musicians, and they started me out on piano when I was 2 and then violin when I was 3-4. I started flute at 8 years old, and haven't stopped performing on it since. I also play alto saxophone, clarinet, recorder, piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute, and I sing opera professionally.
I have performed with a variety of musical ensembles at a professional level: large ensembles such as orchestras and wind ensembles, chamber music groups including wind quintet, string quartet, and many trios and duos, and as a soloist.
I have been through hundreds of auditions, panels, workshops, masterclasses, and competitions, and I've gotten very familiar with the process of performing at a high level.
I would love to coach you on how to prepare for and excel in whatever performance you have coming up, whether it's an instrument I play or not!
I have a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from San Francisco State University, and have over 20 years of experience performing on the flute. I also have extensive experience teaching and coaching, and have worked with students of all ages and experience levels. I offer 30, 45, and 60

Piano is an important tool to start your musical journey on because you can dive right into the fundamentals of reading and playing music. This knowledge can be applied to any other instrument you wish to play.
Anyone can learn a musical instrument. I started from a blank slate which through my own interest was able to improve my skills to perform the music I love.
