I began studying music theory in high school, and have taken several semesters of college-level music theory. To complement and support my music theory and ear training knowledge, I have studied piano at the intermediate level. Music theory will help you appreciate, interpret, and enjoy music - I can't imagine not knowing what I know about music theory, and I want you to feel the same way. Here are materials I can use in music theory lessons:

- The Musician's Guide to Theory and Analysis (Clendinning and Marvin)

- The Musician's Guide to Theory and Analysis workbook (Clendinning and Marvin)

- Materials and Techniques of Post-Tonal Music (Kostka and Santa)

- Yamaha electric piano (in my Home Studio and can be used online)

Hi there! I'm a pianist and composer with 15 years of experience in the music industry, having taught classes at Cornerstone Conservatory in Santa Monica. The most important thing I wish to impart is a love of music and a knowledge of its history. I work closely with every student to determine the proper approach for them. It is important to set goals for the student and keep track of their progress. When a student accomplishes something it is the most rewarding feeling! We will study all kinds of music, from Beethoven and Bach, to Bartok and Scott Joplin, Pop and Rock. I studied piano and composition at Juilliard and the Royal College of Music.

About Mahlon

I am a dedicated teacher, pianist, composer and conductor. I love working with students and am happy to find the right method for each person. I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is that the student connect with the music and their instrument by being creative and personalizing my approach for the student. I also strongly strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, per

I was exited to start my first lesson and it was great! Ha-eun welcomed me warmly and I think learning with her will be successfull and wonderful at the same time. Looking forward to my next lesson!

Ha-eun is a great violin teacher. I'm an adult learner that picked up the violin to try something different. I've played saxophone for 15 years, and have gone through many types of teachers. I can say Ha-eun is one of the best. She's experienced and patient. We started lessons in person and moved to online because of COVID19, and still going strong through the Suzuki book. She would be great to teach young or old alike!

Her help with bow hold, relaxation with the right hand and arm, will help me enjoy playing.

John Krauss has been teaching our 4th grade boy acoustic guitar for the past year. When he started, our son could not clap a rhythm to save his life but now is learning to strum on beat and follow along with lessons successfully. John challenges our 9 year old with different styles and techniques that push him to the next level. He encourages our child in a warm and respectful way. We appreciate John's professionalism and patience with working with a young student. We highly recommend him. "John is a nice guy who helps me learn new chords and licks. I like my lessons!" says the 4th grader.

I thought trying to learn to play the guitar at the age of 35 with no musical background, with kids and a full time job was a daunting task. That was until I met John. I have had 30 minute lessons with John for the past year and a half. There was a steep learning curve for me in the beginning, but John remained very patient and encouraging. His knowledge of music and his ability to explain and teach in a way that I could understand is second to none! I can now play a couple dozen songs and have a great foundation of skills to play many many more! I recommend John to anyone of all ages who wish to learn how to play the guitar.

We are very happy that our son takes guitar lessons with John Krauss. John is a very skilled and versatile guitar teacher. He was adept at discovering my son's specific interests and learning style(s) and has tailored his lessons accordingly. My son enjoys, and looks forward to his lessons.
John brings a lot of experience as a musician to his teaching. For much of his life he has performed on stage as a Rock and Jazz guitarist. In addition to teaching music, John Krauss is an award winning sound engineer. He has recorded musical ensembles and soloists, as well as, audio books by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Senator Fred Thompson, and other well known authors, speakers, and public figures.

"Truly the BEST OF THE BEST.

I have studied with Tanisha Hall for 14 months. During this time she’s expanded my power, range, stamina, phrasing, note-perfect pitch, and stage presence. She has also kept me from damaging my chords, so I don’t have a sore throat anymore. Perhaps the most critical thing Tanisha has shown me is how to AUTHENTICALLY CONNECT with audiences and form a deep bond with them during live performances.

RESULTS:
Since Tanisha has been working with me, here are the tangible results, with no exaggeration at all:

I got to sing the Star Spangled Banner for start of a 5K road race that had 3,000 runners in it, and a very large crowd of spectators.

I have been offered weekly residency at a performance venue in North Hollywood, and also a bi-weekly residency at high-end supper club in Long Beach.

I got invited to collaborate with a well-known pianist to perform Christmas songs with her at two of her most exclusive venues. She also wants to collaborate with me to sing at weddings during the wedding season.

I’ve also received offers to co-write new material and to go into the studio to cut tracks with some artists in Orange County, even though their style and genre is very different than the direction I plan to go into. They keep constantly bugging me to sing with them.

And more...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In summary, I simply can’t tell you how critical Tanisha has been to my development (after years of going nowhere) and how LUCKY anyone is to have her as an instructor.

If she has room in her schedule to take you on as a new student, you’d better take it while you can. Even if it means driving 40 miles, you’ll never find anyone better than her, for sure."

"I took piano lessons with Ms.Charlene for 13 years. I started my lessons with her at a very young age when I was in kindergarten. My piano journey with Ms.Charlene is an experience I will treasure forever. She is very kind, nurturing, patient and professional. She taught me musical skills that enabled me to perform confidently at recitals and complete my Advanced level CM piano evaluation. I am proud that I can pick up any piece of music and play with ease. I also volunteer to perform regularly in a hospital for patients. It brings me joy to share music with others and its all thanks to my teacher Ms.Charlene."

"Learning to play the piano as been pleasant and engaging!

When I first starting taking lessons with Scott I had never taken piano lessons or even knew how to play. Scott knows classical piano music very well and introduced me to great piano pieces for beginners to get started on learning how to play. The lessons will move at your pace and the challenge will never be no more than you can handle. Now I will most likely make it a long term goal to get better and better thanks to his help."
