I enjoyed my 2 sessions with Marie, at the end of my second lesson she offered to email me a list of acting/improv classes in NYC because everyone she knows was in NYC.
This was contradictory because initially she told me she just moved here and doesn't know anyone up north. And besides that, I expressed how happy i was with her classes which was down the road 35 minutes and not commuting to NYC which is over a couple hours.
Anyway, I am glad that I actually learned something and got to do exercises and not leave with the feeling that i wasted my money and most importantly my time like other acting coaches on here.

Great teacher. Very encouraging and patient which is what an adult learner needs. She supports her students and gives them interesting contemporary pieces to learn (that is the genre we picked so we stay interested in practicing!). Thanks Marie France!

I enjoyed my 2 sessions with Marie, and from work she was a 35 min commute vs 90 mins to NYC.
With her I felt engaged, she was prepared, professional, stayed on topic and gave relevant critiques and feedback.
At the end of my second lesson she offered to email me a list of acting/improv classes in NYC which she did.
Anyway, I am glad that I actually learned something and got to do exercises and not leave with the feeling that i wasted my money and most importantly my time.

"Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts."
Psalm 105:2

My Gospel singing course will explore the foundations of effective gospel singing, including phrasing, riffing, and shouting - in addition to traditional vocal technique used for overall healthy singing.

The course begins with a history of gospel music from a vocal standpoint, and then move to the improvisational components of singing. Since gospel music is more about singing the "good news," we will study improvisation techniques from shouting to gospel riffs.

You will discover how various scales, like the pentatonic and blues scales, are used in gospel singing to create a truly soulful sound.

The goal of the course is to help the gospel singer gain a clear understanding of gospel phrasing, scale patterns, proper breathing, pitch accuracy, and clear rhythmic articulation. Hope to see you in class. Keep singing the GOOD NEWS..GOSPEL MUSIC.

I love and encourage creativity in my students. I have studied music for over 15 years and am well-versed in theory, performance and songwriting. I craft my lessons around what the individual student wants, but one thing all my lessons have in common is that you will be able to learn a lot, and do so in a laid-back environment. If you've always looked at a guitar and imagined yourself writing your own riffs and songs, you've come to the right place! Message me to chat and see if I can be of service to you on your musical journey.

About Bill

I've been playing guitar for over 14 years and have been writing original music for almost as long. I really want to share my knowledge with students so that I may increase their passion for music and their drive to excel and create. "Ahmad is an extremely patient and mindful teacher which makes him perfect to teach children. Especially children like my son. My son has behavior and attention challenges that make focusing close to impossible. He has been learning to play guitar with Ahmad for nearly two years. In this time he has made amazing progress even though he refuses to practice. He can play several old rock songs from beginning to end. Ahmad has taught a difficult child a difficult task. Ahmad has given my son an outlet for frustration, a much needed coping skill, and hope for success in his future. We are very grateful. I'm looking forward to seeing my son play his guitar on a stage someday ( even just a high school talent show). Thank you, Ahmad. Highly recommend."

"My daughters, 8 and 6, took lessons as beginners from Melody for 10 months before we had to move. SHE IS AMAZING! Not only did she make the lessons fun and engaging, but they learned so much in that short time. I grew up playing piano, violin and French horn and I was very impressed with her approach/methodology and how much of herself she put into her teaching. For the last 3 months we were with Melody, the girls also took voice lessons. The highlight of our spring was watching the girls perform at the recital Melody had so painstakingly organized. It was astounding how much they had progressed musically and my husband and I were in awe at how well they performed in front of people. We were also impressed at the wide range of experience in the students Melody taught. Some had played for years and were clearly continuing to blossom under Melody's tutelage, while others were beginners like our daughters. Melody was always positive, encouraging and extremely patient (even when my six year old had clearly not practiced for a week straight or was tired and whiny). My daughters and I miss her dearly as our mentor and now our friend! We cannot recommend her highly enough."

"Trevor has been exceptional from the start. My son had an audition for worship team at church and Trevor was familiar with some of the music that is played at churches. He helped my son to focus on just the music he needed to get the spot on the team. So far we have a second audition and the lessons are most definitely paying off. My son is 10. Trevor is extremely patient and encouraging with his words. He is very knowledgeable and creative with his style of teaching by using different methods that work for my son. I highly recommend him!"

"Undoubtedly the Fur Elise of piano teachers! This is the second teacher for my little one and just after the first lesson, the difference in Lana’s style of teaching when compared to the previous teacher was quite apparent. The professionalism and the ability Lana consistently exhibits to conjure the personal motivation out of my little one to excel in piano is simply amazing. We have been taking lessons from her for over a year now and my daughter has made strides in reading sheet music, playing steadily, and being more comfortable playing in front of others. When friends and relatives come over they have noticed a difference in her play and have asked what we have done differently. The first time someone asked, my daughter replied “Lana” and I couldn’t help but laugh a little as I was not expecting her to even respond. Lana is an exceptional piano teacher whose love for music is infectious and I would highly recommend!"

The 4-Letter Acronym All Aspiring Singers Need to Know

Want to be a better singer and performer? Vocalists have a lot to think about, both before and during a performance. Here, Baltimore, MD voice teacher DeTrece L. breaks down the basics in an easy-to-remember acronym...   Many students have asked me how I sing with so much passion and color, regardless of the genre. My answer has always been the same: Let your heart sing! Vocalists are the only musicians who do not have the option of making actual, physical contact with their inst …
