Since 2005 I have been composing music for a wide variety of ensembles and artistic platforms. Whether it be for a choreographed dance number, brass quintet/chamber music, or jazz orchestras, I've been able to hone my arranging and scoring capabilities to enable me to adapt any song, or write my own to suit any situation.

All songs have basic building blocks that make them songs. You will become familiar with these, and learn to wield them, in order to create your own. We'll look the music of many different genres, and extrapolate what you like from each; in this way your writing, no matter what style of music it's in, will reflect a depth and character that only the best musicians throughout time have been able to achieve.

I can assist you with every aspect of music composition as it applies to any situation you are writing for, and help you to be able to write the music you are hearing in your head!

I would highly recommend Jonathan as a music teacher. Jonathan is absolutely passionate about music, which is evident by his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is very patient with my five year old and encourages her to get her very best effort. Jonathan customizes the music and lessons for my daughter’s skill level while at the same time provides challenges to keep the learning process interesting. In a short period of time, my daughter's keyboard playing abilities have dramatically increased. I am very grateful to Jonathan for making learning fun for my daughter, who always looks forward to her lessons!

I am studying to become a professional classical singer. Through my own training, I have discovered that having an amazing teacher – one who is supportive, caring, and hard working, and who will push you and work with you to be better – is the most important tool an aspiring musician can have. I believe that every student is different, as no person's body is the same, and no vocal instrument is the same. Based on my performance in the Teaching of Singing course at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, I was selected to be a voice teacher to non-Conservatory students at Oberlin College. I have now had several students, two of whom, with my assistance, have just been accepted to prestigious summer programs in classical voice. Though I have only been teaching voice to others for a year now, I have been teaching myself alongside my own teachers through practice and independent work for the past nine years, and I have discovered countless techniques and tricks to help every aspect of singing.

Rachel is a great vocal instructor and gave me the confidence to learn and discover my own voice. As a beginner with no experience in vocal training, I was able to learn the basics of posture, setup and breath and of course singing. I enjoyed lessons with Rachel and would highly recommend working with her.

Rachel is absolutely awesome. Makes me feel so comfortable which helps me to be 100% myself including my funny mistakes. I feel that I am learning and understanding music and singing a lot.

Every voice is a unique "living instrument", strongly influenced by so many physical, emotional and psychological factors. In my classes I love to help students exploring their own voice beyond the simple concept of learning a melody and repeating it, showing them how to use their instrument at its full potential of musical expression. I like to teach the technique together with the interpretation, going through every musical style, pop, rock, R&B, soul, country, you name it! I firmly believe that there is something to learn from every genre, and I think that the listening process is an essential step to find our own personal voice. Throughout my career I worked with students of all ages, from 5 to over 60 years old, with different levels of music preparation, from complete amateurs to professional singers.

About Marco

I'm a singer-songwriter, voice teacher and Berklee College of Music alumni. I started my career in Italy, winning national competitions like the Tour Music Fest, and participating to the first edition of the talent show “The X-Factor”. Marco is a very thoughtful, attentive, and experienced vocal coach. I've started to become a lot more aware of how to delivery songs through my voice. Highly recommended!

Was quickly able to find areas of improvement and provide excersises to fix the issues.

First of all, Marco is a tremendous singer and musical artist, as evidenced by his amazing vocals and songwriting in his original music. He has years of experience singing and performing professionally, and it shows.

Even more importantly, Marco is a spectacular teacher. He is a student of the voice and knows more about the anatomy of singing than anyone I've ever met. He can describe where you should place your sound, pinpoint how your body is affecting your voice, and immediately show you several exercises that target your specific challenge spots.

Marco has also helped me improve so much as a performer and musician; he has challenged me to sing songs that are slightly out of my comfort zone and given me countless tips on how to pay homage to an artist when covering them while still making the song my own. Finally, he has also helped me develop my own musical style as a cover artist and original artist.

I have been involved in music since I was just a child. It started with learning piano, then guitar, ukulele, mandolin, harmonica, djembe and so many more.

I’ve continued to learn and perfect my craft by being apart of different types of bands from small to large with varying genres of music. I also formalized my music education with a bachelor of Art in Music.

So what song would you like to learn to play today?

Johan is great with kids! My son is a very active child, and he was able to make the lesson fun and engaging. More than that, I enjoyed seeing Johan be creative, listen to the child, and make music fun, more than being it a lesson (per say). I highly recommend Johan!

"A friend and I talked about learning to play the guitar. This friend gave me a gift of my first lesson three months ago, and I've already learned a lot more than I ever expected in such a short time. Jimmy is such a knowledgeable teacher, and a very patient guy, There have been several times when I've asked him to review something he's taught me. He explains things clearly and in a respectful way, never making me feel inadequate. I am learning so much about music theory and why he is teaching me what he's teaching, and that helps things make more sense. (Well, most things! Haha!)
