I began to play the violin as a 4 year old in Eastern North Carolina. I began with Suzuki and after college began playing an electric violin for a local band. I love music...it releases a form of expression from the inner soul.

Im a graduate student at East Carolina University working on my masters in violin performance. Between undergrad and grad school I maintained a private violin studio of about 25 students for five years and am certified by the Suzuki association to teach their method through book four. In lessons I’m a big advocate for playing with ease. Playing violin can often times feel like your fighting with yourself but with good technique, it can be a joyful fulfilling experience.

In 2003 I started playing the violin and became concert master (first chair) in my orchestra from Aug. 2003 - May 2012. During that time period, I performed in an honors orchestra from 2005 - 2007. After graduating high school in May 2012, I continued ...

Hands Down the best violin teacher in the Sacramento area! From the flexibility she has with time to the amazing way she teaches. I am a beginner who couldn’t even read music. I told her that was what I was most concerned about. I was able to learn not only to read music but also the background to the music I was learning. To me that was key to learning. Will definitely recommend to anyone that wants to learn the violin!!

I highly recommend Jaclyn. My son was struggling with his practices, she worked with him and gave him the confidence to succeed.

My 10 year old daughter studied with Margaret this year. Margaret is unfailingly patient and encouraging. She has a wealth of knowledge about music theory, and conveys the information in a way that makes it seem easy. She was great about tailoring the lessons to fit my daughter’s interests, strengths, and needs.

I took harp lessons with Margaret for 3 years and would have continued if I hadn't relocated to a different city. Margaret helped me drastically improve my technique with etudes and advice. She is great at explaining what changes need to be made to achieve a more accurate technique, and her musical suggestions really changed the way I think about preparing pieces and took my performance skills to a new level. She's honest, clear, and really fun to work with. I always looked forward to our lessons because she has a way of making even tricky, difficult pieces fun to work on.

"My 10 y/o daughter is taking online piano lessons with Bonnie and we couldn't be more pleased! Prior to Bonnie, she has taken lessons off and on since she was 5 and never really got into them. She dreaded practicing, and didn't really like her teacher. Bonnie is so sweet and patient with her. Every little step forward gets praise from Bonnie. My daughter is learning all kids of new stuff. She practices almost everyday, and without me telling her to. I was worried about online lessons for piano, but it doesn't seem to interfere with the teaching/learning process. Glad to have found TakeLessons and more importantly, Bonnie!"

"Paul is AMAZING! He is the best music teacher I've ever had. He makes the class so fun and enjoyable, and he makes me love acoustic guitar even more. I started to take lessons with Paul as a beginner knowing nothing about acoustic guitar, and have learned so much from him. He is so patient and knowledgeable, he is able to answer all kinds of questions that I have relating to guitar and music. He has AWESOME personality, when you take lessons with him, time flies. He is very good at learning a new song quickly. Sometimes I pick songs that I want to learn, and show these songs to him during class, some of the songs that he has never heard before, he can recognize the chords right away, and wrote them down and teach me how to play. He is a great teacher, you won't be regretted to take his class!"
