I have been teaching flute for almost 20 years. I have a doctorate in flute performance and have done training and extensive research in body mapping and efficiency of body use. I take a very holistic approach to teaching and playing the flute. Each student is a person, an individual unlike anyone else. Every body is unique and therefore will play the flute differently than other flutists. When I teach, I aim to get to know the whole person in order to effectively work with the flutist. I work to get to know how each student learns and processes information. A flutist cannot become a good musician without making the journey their own. My goal is to give every student their own individual path to reach their goals, while also giving them the tools to use in their own teaching of individual flutists. I emphasize these specific areas in my teaching: the physical aspects of flute playing, including playing position and posture, breath control, sound and tone production, projection and ...

Dr. John Ross is an excellent teacher! He helped me take the music I was preparing to record to a whole new level. He has so much knowledge and can present that knowledge in a way that is approachable for students of any level. I am so thankful I got to study with him!!!
Michael
John is an outstanding player and pedagogue. Over a number of years, I've observed John work with students of incredibly diverse backgrounds, ages, and skill levels. With each and every student, John connects with the individual, finding what will help that person rise to their fullest potential as a flute player. Technical progress is a given when studying with John. Additionally, students consistently enter his lessons eager to learn and leave with a renewed drive to grow. I cannot recommend John highly enough.

I am a master teacher focusing on the classical repertoire along with the very strong approache to improvisation. I am really helping each single student to achieve their interests in music rather than focusing on teaching one particular method. I just take a very similar approach to the Suzuki method but instead of teaching out of the method books I teach mixture of exercises and pieces that I believe are more fun and accessible to today student of any age. Classes are tailored to the needs of any particular student and constantly evolving. I am a true believer that this also enchances an understanding and love of classical music.
A huge range of students come as beginners and left as a young artists as well as adult students

"Showing the world there are more songs to play on the uke besides Somewhere Over the Rainbow, I'm Yours, & Riptide."

I have played ukulele for 9 years and spent 3 years in college singing & playing on State Street in Santa Barbara. My teaching style focuses on using tab notation. I think it allows players to be more creative in altering chords & progressions, instead of defaulting to basic ones like "G, D, Am, C."

I still start with basics (depending on experience level) but eventually I move on to unique chords, strumming/percussive patterns, & embellishments that turn the ukulele from a "toy" into a powerful instrument.

About Nico

Nico was recommended to me two months ago and I am very glad I reached out. I already feel more confident knowing what to listen out for when singing. He also taught me a couple songs on ukulele so I can accompany myself. Cool teacher & fun jam sessions!

I had no prior vocal or musical training of any kind--I can't read music--when I began voice lessons with Laura. All I had was a passion since childhood that I finally got the nerve up to pursue. The lessons were a wonderful experience from the very beginning. Voice may be the most challenging instrument to learn, because the teacher can't "play the instrument" to demonstrate technique. Laura has a remarkable talent for communicating vocal techniques and concepts with inventive and vivid visualizations that helped me understand the relationship between my body, my voice, and the sound I produce. I loved the music of Gabriel Faure, but never imagined I could sing it. Laura had all the confidence that I could, and we jumped right in. Faure's beautiful art songs, as well as others by Reynaldo Hahn and Ernest Chasson that Laura introduced me to, are now a part of me. I learned so much in the two years we worked together before Laura returned to her hometown of Denver, and miss her terribly!
Kaylen
I've learned so many valuable vocal lessons with Ms. Laura! She is super talented, smart, and such a great teacher. Ms. Laura takes time to explain musical concepts and techniques. Five stars!
Lisa
My 13 year-old daughter had taken voice lessons from Ms. Laura in Maryland for two years. I have to say my daughter was so lucky to have Ms. Laura as her first voice teacher! When my daughter started to show interest in singing in 2016, she knew very little about singing. Ms. Laura was very knowledgeable, personal and supportive. Ms. Laura taught my daughter about vocal anatomy, how to improve her voice presentation and how to avoid possibility of voice loss, inflammation from overuse or misuse. After several months, my daughter made very impressive progress on her voice range and presentation. It was such a treat when I listened to my daughter practicing singing at home. She was getting better and better every day. I was so proud of my daughter. At the same time, I really appreciate Ms. Laura being such a wonderful teacher. Ms. Laura is very personal. She tried to know my daughter as a teacher and as a friend. Based on each student's personality and strength, Ms. Laura chose music that helps each student to grow, but also focus on what needs to be worked on. Ms. Laura was very flexible when we needed to reschedule lessons. We sure miss her!!

"I came into these classes never taking a lesson in my life, I was worried it was going to be a very structured, class based lesson plan. He helped me break the fear of a 1 on 1 instructor, and he made these lessons very educational and extremely fun. From playing alongside me with the licks and patterns I wanted to learn to helping me develop my own playing by taking these scales and licks and jamming alongside me. I was afraid a lot of these patterns would get boring and repetitive but he showed me how to have fun while doing it! He is very supportive and extremely passionate about playing, and he had renewed my love for the instrument! I definitely recommend Alexios to anyone with any skill level, from basic beginner to advanced players!"

"Abby is amazing! I've been singing for over 30 years and have always wanted a voice coach. I looked through many profiles in my search. When I can across Abby's profile, I instantly wanted her to train me. I've always loved Broadway, and I wanted an empowering coach like her. Abby is a star, and she will make you feel like one too. I needed help with technique, daily habits, and confidence. Abby is very patient and really listens to her students. She always encourages me and gives feedback in a positive way. She finds songs within my voice range that challenge me, and also works with songs I choose. I look forward to classes every week. In the short time I've been working with Abby, my voice and confidence have improved. Abby also taught me great daily exercises and breathing techniques. I highly recommend Abby for anyone seeking a positive and skilled voice/musical theater coach."

"Fawn is a fabulous vocal coach and teacher who worked with me for 3 years to build my voice and vocal confidence. My learning was ear based as I didn’t read music but this was no obstacle to my learning. I absolutely loved my lessons with Fawn (who also taught me to read music). She was diligent and rigorous but lots of fun and I thoroughly recommend her to both professional and amateur singers – Fawn will surely bring out the best in you!"

"This is our second year with Miss Fawn and I can't say enough wonderful things about her. My two older girls have taken piano for 3 1/2 years and she is by far the best teacher we've had.
Miss Fawn is very talented in her own right and expects stellar results from her students. She has a way with kids that make them feel comfortable and excited about piano while making incredible progress.
My 7 year old just started taking lessons and has learned so much already.
Miss Fawn comes to our home each week which, as a busy mom of five, is extremely helpful with our crazy schedule.
Thank you, Miss Fawn!"
