As a performer, I have performed around the world on numerous instruments in international festivals, competitions, live, televised, studio and more. All of this came with a lot of hard work and dedication on both my part as well as the part of my own teachers. I have taken this wealth of knowledge and turned it into my own teaching method where I teach my students to be a whole musician that is highly capable and knowledgable.

About Braxton

Hello, I am Braxton Porter a Southern California multi-instrumentalist. My training has taken me around the world performing wind, strings, percussion and as a vocalist from little theaters in Italy to Notre Dame de Paris to Walt Disney concert hall. I have several degrees in music and specialize

Moriah has been a great vocal instructor! I was very nervous to start singing, and she was just the person I needed to coax me out of my shell. She is extremely welcoming and attentive. She is very knowledgeable about vocals and all things music. She provides excellent explanations and recaps at the end of each lesson. I can tell she genuinely loves sharing her passion for music with others, and I can't recommend her highly enough!

So far so good! I’ve only had one lesson, but I was impressed with Moriah’s knowledge and teaching style, plus it seemed like she was really engaged in building a good foundation! Looking forward to next week!

I took trumpet and music theory lessons from Mr Talley He has a wealth of knowledge and experience. I highly recommend him and look forward to my next lesson from him.
Derrek
My brother took lessons from Mr. Talley before me, and when I got into Band I started too.  Thanks to Mr. Talley I  made 1st chair in the Region Band twice on Tuba.  When I switched to Euphonium in high school, he was right there helping me with the change from Tuba.  I made the Region Band again on a new instrument only a few weeks after I switched, and he was the reason why.  He always seemed to know exactly what I needed to do to get better.  Even now, years later, I can still call him any time and ask him about music and he always helps me.
Derrek
My mom made me take lessons from Mr. Talley when I was a little kid because my brothers loved him so much.  I thought he was kind of crazy at first, but when I started doing the things he said I got WAY better.  Now I can see what he was doing – he just knew EVERYTHING about trombone, so I got really good.  Even though I don’t play in band any more since I graduated high school, I still sometimes get my instrument out and play for fun.  I always hear his crazy sayings in my head, which makes me enjoy it.  You should sign up – my mom always said he was worth every penny because he helped her raise us into good people.  I didn’t get that when I was a kid, but I understand now.  He taught me more than music – he taught me how to think smarter.

"I would highly recommend Tony Mitri as a voice and music instructor. My son takes lessons with Mr. Mitri and his progress has been astounding! He studies with other teachers previously without much success. My son has said he has learned more from Mr. Mitri than all of his previous instructors. He enjoys the lessons so he works harder at making progress and it shows. He helped him expand his range substantially, and increase his confidence. I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in music of any kind. Mr.Mitri is awesome professional, patient and extremely knowledgeable. You won’t be disappointed."

How to Get Gigs: Life as a Guitarist for Hire

Your days of bedroom jam sessions are over -- it's time to start your music career and hit the road! In this article, traveling musician and guitar teacher Nick K. discusses his experience with guitar gigs and gives you tips on how to make them successful...   I'm what they call a "hired gun." That's a cool title for what's otherwise referred to as a traveling performer or musician for hire. I've done a lot of touring with a great group called The Three Degrees. They had wor …

5 Maintenance Tips for Violin Bows

All musical instruments require attention and maintenance. When it comes to the violin, however, it is easy to forget that the bow needs as much care as the instrument itself. After all, the way you treat your violin bows will affect the way the violin sounds. If too much resin builds up on the hairs, for example, the sound will come out wrong. While it may not be as costly to repair or replace violin bows, why waste money when it’s easy to keep your violin bows in good working condition? …

Lyrically Stuck? Think Like Eddie Vedder

Earlier this week, Eddie Vedder announced the venues for his upcoming solo tour, stopping in 13 cities to promote his 2011 album "Ukelele Songs." The tour begins on April 11th in Las Vegas, and then works across the country, ending on May 16th in Orlando.  Pearl Jam embarks on its European tour just one month after. Vedder's passion-filled lyrics, ranging in topics from personal to political, have made him one of the most prominent songwriters of the rock-and-roll genre.  Pair that with his …
