Learning to play your instrument at the highest level will make it easier for anyone to play any kind of music they may like. Don't waste time learning to play tunes on sax, but spend time learning to play sax on any tunes. Seems like a smarter way to go to me. I'm all about learning to play as fast and efficiently as possible. However practice and playing time is a must.

Takes the same amount of time to learn to play sax now as it did 175 years ago!

About Kevin

35 yrs of teaching sax and clarinet students Many of my students have participated in Honor Band and All State Band events year after year. I am very comfortable with total beginners, advancing players, and aspiring pros. I currently have students from 9 to 80+ I tailor student lessons to the need

Teaching guitar lessons is something I’m particularly passionate about. I still recall the feeling I had the first time my dad put a guitar in my lap and taught me to play "Sweet Home Alabama" at the early age of seven. My ultimate desire is that my students would have a similar type of musical experience through my teaching.

Are you tired of not being able to play YOUR songs? Want to learn the basics of tone, pedals, effects, amps, etc.? Want to learn to play something other than Wagon Wheel? Hit me up!

What you will learn:

1. Scales, chords, improv
2. Rock, country, blues, jazz
3. How to play YOUR songs MUSICALLY

For over more than 20 years I have had many successful students, who have enjoyed playing and studying with me. Teaching is a life-giver for me--I enjoy introducing students to the joys of different musical ideas, concepts, and ways that they can advance on their instrument. Things that I have enjoyed learning and playing over the years, that I can pass on to them to explore and enjoy. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Music, and have taught as an adjunct on the college level, high school, and privately. On the college level, I have taught clarinet, saxophone, and flute at three colleges, a Woodwind Methods class for five years, developed jazz ensembles, and developed and procured music for woodwind trios and saxophone quartets.

I have played professionally in these settings; jazz, symphonic, pit orchestra, and general business entertainment freelance as a woodwinds specialist.

"I’ve never taken a lesson with Jonas, but in nearly three decades of covering local goings-on as Music Editor at the Austin Chronicle, I can certainly attest that this man is a musical GENIUS. And as I type that word, I’m trying to think of another local musician I would so readily apply said assignation to. His accumen on six strings is preternatural. In playing with a broad cross section of bands and individuals, Jonas asserts a truly uncanny ability to coax any sound out of his instrument at any give moment. When he does, it’ll be the ONLY sound that should’ve have come forth at that juncture. That’s a rare feat in ANY musician. Jonas’ confidence as a musician/guitarist/producer is only equal to his empathy for others and both remain palpable as his greatest gifts outside of shit-hot natural ability. If I played guitar, I’d absolutely lose my mind at the opportunuty to be mentored by Jonas. You will find NO ONE BETTER. Amen, y’all."

"So far I have had a handful of lessons and I think Nicole is excellent. Before we started I told her that I have no vocal training or skills. After a handful of lessons I was signing without the lyrics to carry me.

She makes it fun and relaxing with good pointers for improvement.

I highly recommend her to anyone - especially a novice like myself."
