I've been teaching chorus and doing private voice lessons for almost 10 years. For the past years, my students in private singing lessons have gained a basic understanding of vocal anatomy and become more skilled in correct breathing technique, moving between vocal registers and producing balanced tone. I usually select an age appropriate song for my students to learn for each session, and each skill the students learned during the lessons will be applied to the singing of that song.

I'm passionate about the arts and love to teach! I have over 19 years of performing arts experience, and 6 years of teaching experience (K-8th grade music, as well as dance and musical theatre camps for kids in my community). I received my Bachelor's degree in 2013, studying Theatre, Music, and Art.

What makes vocal lessons with me unique is that I have a background in theatre and dance as well. I am loving, creative, and meticulous. As a teacher, I will tailor my lessons around you, at your own level and pace, and will do my best to meet your individual needs as a student and performer. After learning what your goals are and what your vocal range and current skill level is--I will provide some musical repertoire for you to prepare and perform. You are also welcome to bring music that you'd like to learn. I can help you find your unique sound and convey emotion in your voice. And I offer an Audition Prep course as well!

Darren has sung with over 10 legendary music acts and in 2010 won International Vocalist of the Year. He has one of the broadest ranges in the music business. He specializes in modern music formats, Pop, Rock, Country and Theater. He believes in teaching by singing songs accompanied by developmental exercises for breathing, power, range and endurance. As a classical singer who has studied voice for twelve years, I teach with a healthy, free-of-tension approach to singing. I believe that with the right training, anyone can be a singer. My lessons will focus on releasing tensions in the body and maintaining good vocal health, while being tailored to students' needs. I would love to work with students on anything from expanding their range, improving tone quality, diction, repertoire choices, acting, breath support, vocal health, and more.

I provide lessons to students aged 10 and up who are interested in learning the proper singing technique for classical music, opera, and musical theatre. In lessons, I help the students build a solid technique, learn new repertoire, and prepare for upcoming auditions.
