My methods vary from student to student. I focus primarily on ear training, applications of chord construction to learning solo's, songs, and chords, and reading guitar tablature when a student is lost. I believe guitar is an especially creative instrument and do NOT focus on reading sheet music as a part of the student's learning experience. An emphasis is also placed on performance as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. Listening to music is an extra-curricular activity that should be done every day with a special emphasis on hearing what the 'greats' do with a magnificent piece of wood in their hands.

About Greg

I have been playing guitar for over 14 years, played in four different gigging bands ranging from country to jazz to improvisational funk. I taught music theory, guitar, and bass at M.E.A. Music in Lexington Park, Maryland for 3 years and currently teach and manage at the School of Rock in Arnold.

I have been singing opera for 7 years now, and Christine had the most thorough teaching process by far! I found my real voice underneath all the conformity I had been taught through choir and am now moving through singing more powerful and with my "real voice." She is open to workshopping repertoire that you are interested in, and suggests things that will help you grow your voice while not pushing an agenda, so you feel as though you have lots of artistic freedom.
Also just a super warm and authentic person. Overall a great experience!

Christine is extremely talented and provided me with positive yet technical feedback each practice.

Christine is a Godsend! Prior to working with her, I studied classical voice and opera with several instructors. Christine is by far the best teacher and wish I had met her sooner!

As an accomplished singer herself, she is able to identify challenging areas and help improve technique. I’m now attempting pieces with confidence that I never would have attempted previously. And, I find the sessions very relaxing and enjoyable. She inspired me to push myself further and feel like I’m getting great results! Well worth the investment.

Ukulele is a fun beginner instrument and is easier on the fingers than guitar, but it can also be used to play any kind of music, no matter how unlikely or complicated. I play jazz on them sometimes, and there are countless videos on YouTube of uke players attempting heavy metal and actually pulling it off.

My 9-year old daughter needed a help with musical audition prep in last minute. Since we moved to another location, Brad was recommended by one of the CYT teachers we new at the previous location. As soon as Brad started the lesson, he knew exactly what was needed to be casted in a show. We only had two lessons before the audition, but his key point lessons were good enough to get a roll in the show for my daughter. We will definitely seek for Brad for next audition prep.

"So glad I decided to take lessons with Rebecca

I had never taken a singing lesson before, so was nervous about what I was getting myself into. From the first minute of the first lesson, Rebecca had already put me at ease, and now my lesson is the favorite part of my week. Rebecca is a gifted singer and a natural teacher. She works with students as individuals, helping them achieve their specific goals in a way that works best for them--no matter what their age or experience/ability level. I am probably one of her older students (41 years) and I have seen her interact with students as young as 6 or 7, and she is great with everyone. A real pro. She is smart, insightful, patient (very!), and has a knack for communicating ideas and helping me make the connections that lead to progress. I have been able to do things with my voice and improve my singing in a way I never thought I could. I have continued to make breakthroughs after 10 months of lessons, and the reason is Rebecca's ability to create a structured but relaxed environment in which I feel comfortable and focused, and inspired to improve. If you are thinking about taking singing lessons--whether for the first time or to hone your professional skills--I would highly, highly recommend Rebecca."

"Susan is a excellent teacher, she has shown great patience and allows you to learn at your own pace. For an adult student with very little childhood training and having taken lessons once before as an adult she has done a masterful job learning what I want to learn and has been very open minded on which direction to go in as far as my lessons go. I am amazed that she has pulled some thoughts and ideas out of me that I didn't realize I had and has taught me patience in learning the piano.
If you are an adult student wanting to learn the piano or advance in piano Susan is the perfect teacher, she is flexible and takes the time to learn what your individual goals are in the piano. She has changed courses with my learning based on my interests, and for that I am thankful. If you are looking for a very talented music teacher (especially if you have done lessons before and have been thinking of giving it one last try) I would highly recommend Susan as the person to work with. 5 stars all the way!!"

We have been working with him for just about 6-7 years, he has taught us how to breath properly, find and keep our notes, as well as giving us excellent tips to warm up. All in all, he is the best. Our worship team would not be at the level it is at now without his help, knowledge and ear. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

Learn Bass Guitar: How to Play a Walking Bass Line in 3 Steps

Looking for a way to make your bass lines move? Bass guitar teacher Miller W. shares his three step plan to creating walking bass lines... The walking bass line is one of the most fundamental parts of American music. It is found most commonly in blues and jazz, but as you learn bass guitar, you will hear its influence in almost any style of music. A walking bass line provides a strong rhythmic and harmonic foundation by smoothly moving from each chord to the next using four quarter notes pe …
