I love sharing my passion for music through teaching. To me, music should be a conduit of self-expression—it is not merely something we do, but rather who we are. While there are many great players who have perfected the technical elements of their craft, it is the greatest musicians who find a way to speak through their art. I strongly believe that we all have the potential to speak through our music, and that the right teacher can inspire that in a student. I hope I can be that teacher for you.

I work with students on both the craft and creative side of music in an enthusiastic and nurturing environment. This approach is aimed at awakening a student's drive to explore their own musical path both inside and outside the lesson. Within a lesson, we will work on (1) instrumental technique and basic music theory, very important aspects to us as players, and (2) improvisation/composition and having creative musical discussions, which are invaluable to us as creatives. From my experience,

To the extent of what I learned in my experience, Andrew is a great percussion teacher for students looking to join a band or marching band. He obviously had a great amount of knowledge and experience with the instrument itself but also the teaching of it. By the end of the first lesson we had already moved to patterns with 8 strikes on each hand and was presented with an arsenal of other exercises for afterwards to find a rate of improvement when given time. He is a very patient teacher and is sensitive to mistakes and which ones to focus on. I could safely recommend him to any of my friends who are also into percussion, and can speak from experience that any nervousness of getting a new teacher quickly dissolves after the first lesson. Great teacher.

Singing is one of the most wonderful gifts we've been given and I believe that we should all have the opportunity to express ourselves through music! I've been teaching for 5 years and am well-versed in a variety of styles. I have performed in operas, musicals, and contemporary performing groups, and feel comfortable teaching in all of the above-listed genres. "What a difference a few lessons can make

Our daughter is in middle school and is playing in a band with about 20 other clarinets. At the first testing, she was seated in the middle of the pack. When she asked to take music lessons, we looked online and found Mikaela. Within a few lessons, Mikaela was able to find small things that made a huge difference. Now not only is our daughter playing better but has a lot more confidence with the clarinet as well.

Mikaela is very personable and patient. She really seems to care about our daughter and makes the lessons enjoyable. Not sure that we could have found a better instructor for our daughter!"

"Crazy but Chaz would travel all the way to the hills of Pacific Palisades from where his studio was then (Beverly Hills) to come to me. He is very energetic, passionate and has never short changed any of my lessons (sorry I'm just a type that watches the clock all the time!). In fact he would sit down with me and explain my homework in detail after the time the lesson has completed, so then I would be obliged to make him a lil something from the kitchen lol, but that is the kind of teacher you will come up with if you hire him. I was lucky I guess as I was always his last home visit student for the day. Technique-wise be careful as he is most meticulous but in a very good way. Musical phrasing was his big thing. I wish I would be able to continue lessons with him but immediate family responsibilities have kept me somewhat busy to manage any other schedule :(
