About Charis
I have a B.S. in Music Education. I have worked with several disabled students patiently guiding them, finding creative ways to make music accessible to them. I believe it is not about me or the parent, but the student. I work with children of all ages believing that we can find a way that works so that in a few months you see results. Anyone can learn to sing or play but not everyone is going to enjoy it without the right approach and teacher. I don't want to hear a student say that the teacher didn't listen to me, they wouldn't entertain my ideas.
In my studio I have two piano's and a keyboard. We have monitors and microphones and the ability to record. I encourage the composer to the pop music player, from the classical artist to the Broadway singer.
Currently, I have several students that compose their own music, helping
one of those students to become a copyrighted artist.

*** Lesson Details ***
For the child I have had the most success with the Bastien method and for the Adult pianist I usually use Alfred's method books. I constantly have access to musicnotes.com to download any current or older hit in addition to the method books. I want you to learn to note read and then to play by chords. I never want the student to lose their creative, artistic ability. They should feel welcome at all times to add input to the lesson. I want you to have fun learning and find the ability in you to make music. Please contact Takelessons if a time does not suit your availability. I may be able to work something out.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I own my music studio w/ piano, seating for parents. I have vocal equipment, microphones and monitors

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will have a music bingo game with me and whatever else is needed to supplement the lesson

*** Specialties ***
I teach any style and method that is needed. I teach note reading and playing classical music to playing by chords and learning how to split the voicing

About Eric
For over 20 years I've helped students of all ages to maximize their vocal potential. Embracing a variety of vocal styles, from classical to contemporary, my students have excelled in musical theater, aced college auditions, traveled as lead singers with rock bands, recorded music videos and reached the higher levels of American Idol auditions.

I hold both Bachelors and Masters degrees in vocal music and have directed vocal groups traveling internationally to more than 20 countries on four continents. I've personally produced more than 20 full-scale musical/theatrical productions with casts of over 200 and ticketed audiences of up to 10,000. I've also promoted concert events for more than 40 nationally known artists including Randy Travis, Chris Tomlin, Aaron Schust, Jeremy Camp and Mercy Me.

My lessons blend solid vocal technique,
while reflecting the unique needs and goals of each student. My passion is to enable those I work with, beginner to advanced, to maximize their vocal potential. I currently teach from my home studio in Rockford, Illinois.

Seriously such an incredible instructor. He understood where I was beginning from (the absolute minimum) and taught me accordingly. I still value everything I learned from him, and the techniques have come in handy in various areas of my life. As someone who officiates weddings, is an entrepreneur that predominately uses videos to share my business, as well as being a busy aunt of 4 incredible nieces and nephews and has to project my voice-I use gold nuggets of what Prof. Eric Walker taught me on a daily basis. I STRONGLY recommend him-even if it is for a short while! Note-I had him for one semester and grew so much.

For five semesters I studied voice with Eric Walker at Rock Valley Community College. He took the time to show me the basics of using your voice properly in singing. Mr. Walker was patient in teaching me how to breathe deeply which has helped me in my singing today. Also, he taught me how to have more forward resonance when singing. In addition, he prepared me well for my college auditions. I was able to walk into my auditions confidently and sing with clarity.

-Ukulele

As a participant in All State choir in high school, the only female in the U-46 district to make District 9 state Jazz choir, and the recipient of over 20 awards for singing, I'm at a place where I can use my experiences to help you start your journey!
I've been singing and playing my instruments for all of my life. My talents have taken me across the United States and back, even singing the National Anthem on Fox for the World's Strongest Man competition.
Having a passion for music, I picked up piano and guitar at a young age and studied both for years, finding new ways of combining the two with voice and also being able to play them separately or simply use them for songwriting.
Whether you're interested in playing piano, guitar, singing, or d
oing a combination, we will find your music genre where your passion lies and take it to new levels. I can coach you on your stage performance or even help prepare you for choral/band concerts in school.
For my adult students I can help take your gift to new levels, making it easier for you to perform with confidence and do what you've always wanted to do musically.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are customized to the student's age, instrument, and level of interest. I combine early education practices with activities that go beyond just trial and error on instruments and give student's a chance to turn lessons into a fun game. With my methods students also develop a level of confidence that enables them to begin performing for friends and family. I have seen many young vocalists into elite choral groups through their schools and cities. One of my specialties is preparing students for auditions and 9/10 times they make it into the group they were auditioning for or won the solo in their group!

About Eric
Hi.
I'm Eric and I own a Music Lesson Studio in Elgin, IL.

I specialize in working with beginners of any age as well as advanced students who are interested in taking their playing to the next level. Here are some of the things I like to focus on.

Child beginners: Learning to read music. Building confidence and self esteem through learning to play guitar. General music education. Teaching children songs they enjoy to listen to.

Adult Beginners: Learning to play popular rock songs. Chord strumming. Having a nice, relaxing, no pressure lesson.

Advanced students: Learning to read music at a professional level. Lead guitar. Jazz improvisation.

I'm a professional, full time musician and educator and my guitar has been paying my bills my entire adult life. I have real world, professional experience playing and teaching guitar
as well as bass guitar, drums, piano, mandolin and more on countless gigs here in Northern, IL. I teach between 30-50 private students per week. I have taught hundreds of students in the past 12 years how to reach their musical goals. I've played tons of theater. I played guitar, mandolin, and drums as a swing musician for the Chicago Production of Jersey Boys at the Bank of America Theater in 2008. In 2014 I played a lot theater gigs for local productions such as Little Shop of Horrors (bass), Hands on a Hardbody (Guitar, Steel/Slide) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat (guitar). I grew up as a gigging rock n roll/blues guitar player, but my heart is in jazz. I am confident and fluent in, and have gigged most styles of guitar playing.

I met with Eric at his studio in Elgin, and he was extremely friendly and welcoming. He gave me a very good and informational lesson on some specific musical questions I had about progressing in my saxophone career. He gave me specific instructions on places to visit, useful websites, and names of people. This information may seem trivial, but I was at a personal stopping point on some issues, and Eric provided the tools for me to continue. I highly recommend Eric to anyone looking to learn what it means to be a professional.

I started piano lessons at the age of 3 and continued through middle school. I played the flute in the high school band and continued to pursue my love of music in college where I joined the Piano Ensemble and received a degree in Music from DePaul University. I graduated in 2015 with high honors. I have been teaching music and piano for several years. I love, enjoy, and welcome students of all ages. I enjoy teaching all styles of piano music and I believe in catering teaching styles, methods, and pieces to the individual student. I strongly believe that music lessons can be happy, fun experiences. Learning an instrument provides academic, mental, physical, and emotional benefits and strength, but it can also be a truly enjoyable experience to anticipate each week! About Brandon
Hi, my name is Brandon and I am a 20-year-old college student who has been playing guitar since I started high school. I have always had a passion for both music and teaching. My goal is to teach you the fundamental concepts and techniques of playing guitar that will not only help you be a better player but enjoy playing as well. Through my experience, I have found that many people give up on learning to play the guitar too quickly. One of the primary reasons for this is that new players are not learning in a way that is enjoyable for them. Learning how to read notes and doing repetitive, frustrating exercises will just make you want to put that guitar away and never look back. From the first lesson, I will show you how to play basic chords and scales, and give you the tools and guidance that will let you create your own melodies and give
you the courage and desire to keep learning. I provide lessons for students of all ages. And as always, if you feel as if you have not learned anything or have not enjoyed the lesson then I am more than happy to give a full refund for my services.

I look forward to jamming with you!

Thanks,

Brandon

About Cherie
As a musician I wear many hats. I am a music director in a church, teach preschool music classes, direct a community children's choir, direct a community handbell choir, teach private lessons, all while still performing original music I have written and recorded in Nashville with Dove and Grammy Award Winning Producer, Phil Naish (Steven Curtis Chapman).
I believe life is more fun when you color outside the lines. I bring that philosophy to my piano teaching by encouraging my students to compose their own songs, arrange music more to their liking, play new styles of music, and finding cool songs from the internet. I've seen many students rise to great heights by jumping ship from method books to try new and exciting repertoire. I love to fine tune learning to each student's interest. Music should be a reflection of who we are.
I love working with all ages... from young beginners to adults and I know you will meet your goals as we work together.
