While instructing private voice students, I teach the functional approach to singing. This mindset allows the vocalist to focus on singing freely in all genres. I believe it is important to not only teach a wide variety of repertoire, but to also inform my students on vocal health. Along with a functional approach to the voice, I promote a safe and welcoming environment to make music in. If a student does not feel comfortable in the space they are in, then they will not perform to their fullest potential and I would not have completed my job. With some instruction, anyone can sing, and I provide the tools necessary to do so.

I vary students’ lessons with their interests and find the best teaching methods and practices to fit their needs. Because I believe everyone is different and unique. No one can stop you on learning anything but yourself. Therefore, I want students to focus on every lesson and have to practice outside of class which are required and important. Playing music is fun but learning takes time!!

"Alex is a fantastic instructor. He gave my 10 year old guitar lessons and was very patient with his attention span and sometimes lack of practice :-) He taught my son the songs that he wanted to learn, not forcing him into learning things of which he had no interest. I can't recommend Alex more highly....he has found his calling and has mastered it!"
