I like to craft a lesson plan that revolves around the interest of the student. If you like country but not funk, we'll focus heavy on country and not do any funk. If you want to focus on theory, we will. If you don't want to learn "hot crossed buns" we won't. Let me know the music you like and what you want to accomplish and we can go from there!

About Ryan

Hello! My name is Ryan and I play guitar/sing/write/record with local alternative rock/jam band, Lunar Ticks. I also am a guitarist with the all improvised cover band, Fate Nite. I also book shows, produce a comedy show, started a podcast, write for a local music publication, have spoken at schools

Good habits and an excellent attitude make great cellists. It doesn't hurt to love music too. I love music and I love to share my passion with my students.

Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

About Wei

Even though I have been teaching and performing on the cello for most of my life, it's not all there is to who I am. I am a chef (almost--12 weeks to go), a mom, a wife. I have a cute little Tibetan Terrier that loves visitors. My husband and I love hiking in beautiful places. Studying with m

"Robert is an amazing DJ teacher!! Knows his stuff incredibly well and knows how to take complex subjects and make them very approachable. Robert is very patient but also great at challenging you to get outside your comfort zone and try new techniques. Also knows a ton about music and can meet you at any style you prefer to focus your DJing on. Whether you are just starting out or have been DJing for a bit and want to expand your skills, I couldn't recommend him more!"

He makes sure to focus on what I specifically want to learn, which makes the lessons super fun. He's also knowledgable about all aspects of drumming, and he's really helpful whenever I have a question about anything. "Nicholas was very professional. I've been playing cello for 13 years and have played in many community symphonies. I've never had a private lesson and just learned what I was taught in grad school. Although I was skeptical on online lessons, Nicholas has already shown me some bad habits i have and how to break them and we're already moving on to some hard stuff. I'm excited to where my next 9 lessons will take me. Perhaps even with more lessons on the way. Thanks Nicholas!"

Keyboard vs. Piano: What Do New Students Need?

Piano lessons are a great investment, but what if you don't own a piano? Is it really necessary, or will a smaller, more manageable keyboard do the trick? If you're asking these questions, we've got your answers. Consider the following as you make your decision... How committed are you? The first question you'll want to ask yourself is how committed you are with your lessons. Obviously, a full piano is a big investment - in terms of both money and space. While some teachers or music progra …
