About Cathryn

Hello! My name is Cathy and I have been teaching voice (singing) for over 30 years. But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm a stogy old girl who doesn't have a pulse on contemporary music. I teach pop, country, broadway, folk, whatever it is your interested in. I do teach with vocal exercises because without them no changes will be made and that's the whole point right to change your voice? However you do get to sing songs. I teach, so that you will change your voice and succeed in whatever avenue you want. My degree is in Vocal Performance from Northeastern Illinois University and one year of Masters work in Drama from DePaul University.

I also teach ESL, Reading, Writing, History which I have done for the past ten years. I use a variety of techniques since no two people are alike to help you learn English or the Ameri

can lifestyle. I presently teach Caterpillar employees, spouses and children. Let me teach you and see how far we can go.

Thank you.

About John

Welcome!

My name is John Lincourt and I spend most of my professional life playing trombone and leading an array of ensembles, ranging from solo performances to large scale wind ensembles and orchestras. I've been studying music and performing for 19 years. I received my Master's Degree in Instrumental Conducting from Mercer University and my Bachelor's in Trombone Performance from Catawba College. I am currently trombonist for Princess Cruises and have been offered contracts to play on ships that sail to Central and South America, Japan, British Columbia, Canada, Hawaii, Southeast Asia, and Alaska. I also compete in conducting workshops, one of which I was a winner.

I am the type of teacher that prefers to expand the students creativity by approaching music from a variety of perspectives. My goal is to use music as a way of opening

new doors and possibilities for my students, whether that be preparing for success at auditions or developing skills applicable in many facets of life.

Thank you for reading!

About Chris

Born and raised in downtown Manhattan, I have studied music for over 15 years now. When I was about 8 years old I started studying classical piano, and to be perfectly honest, it was like pulling teeth to get me to play.
The repetitious nature of learning classical etude after etude wore down upon me at that young age and it was hard for me to focus on it.

Then I learned about the blues scale and picked up the electric guitar...
After starting to play some blues piano and studying with guitar player
Scott Sharrard of the Gregg Allman band, I started to really enjoy playing music.
I was also playing Trumpet in my middle school band (NYC Lab school) although the constant upkeep trumpet requires made it hard to study three instruments at once...

I proceeded to go to Laguardia High school where I decided to zero in on the piano, studying t

heory and piano technique extensively, and deciding to study jazz as well as classical music.

I began to compose my own tunes and study improvisation diligently, and ended up earning my Bachelor's degree from McGill University.

If you choose to study with me, I will guarantee that you will have fun and see music as more than just a sequence of abstract notes... you will learn how certain chord progressions imply certain emotional settings, and how to manipulate those progressions into creating a scene or narrative!

I currently record my own jazz albums, and play keyboards in a rock band called "Caverns" based here in NYC.

Additionally, I am also fluent in Ableton and record my own electronic music which I am willing to teach, as it is an important skill in the 21st century music scene.

Thank you for your consideration!
-Chris

Chris is a phenomenal piano instructor! He is extremely talented and can play different kinds of music- such an inspiration. He is very patient as my daughter and myself are beginners. He immediately picked up on what kind of music my daughter is into and has her play pieces that interests her and makes her happy (which also means she will practice more) I highly recommend Chris!

About Colin

Please check out my portfolio on my Website! ThehArtofSound.com . Take guitar lessons with a Berklee College of Music graduate! All levels welcome! I will help you reach any goal whether you want to play professionally or just want to learn your favorite song. I have a strong background in music theory and have learned both Jazz and Classical theory from some of the best professors and musicians in the world. My favorite thing as a teacher is to dissect a student's favorite song and show them the "how" and the "why" of the song. What makes it sound so good? It's so gratifying to see a student use a concept that I've explained to them from their favorite song and reuse it in their own way to make their own music. I can't wait to work with you and watch you flourish as a musician!

My guess is that you will just listen to him playing guitar the whole time, and forget about what he is actually trying to teach you; the way I did when he wanted to show me at least how to hold one. That's how amazing he is

About Melissa

I am a professional singer, pianist, and photographer. I studies at EIU with a Bachelors of Music, specifically voice and piano.

Voice students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. Every voice has a unique timbre; I teach students to release built up tension and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual sound. I can help any student to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression.

I teach piano students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied classical piano for over 20 years, and jazz piano for part of those years as well. I can teach students to read music and pursue classical excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student.

Some of my past students have gone on to study music in col

lege themselves and become professional musicians.

My personal passion is classical piano music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

"My daughter really enjoys his teaching. we are learning Suzuki Cello book for our first lesson, and will continue to do it. Thanks."

"Cara (Miss Isadora) has been amazing! We were not sure if it was too early to begin vocal training (she was only 7) but after the first lesson we were am
azed at the initial improvements. Our daughter loves to sing and has a true passion for performing and in less than a year we've heard and seen real improvements in all areas of performance. Cara is patient and so creative in applying very high level techniques for our child and we have witnessed real results. And when we get to hear Cara's angelic voice fill the house...well, can't believe we are fortunate enough to have our daughter under her tutelage. Highly recommend and applaud her flexibility in working with many different types of music and pushing students to grow in all areas of performance."

"Fantastic Teacher!

Alex is an awesome teacher! His ability to communicate information in a way that is easily understood no matter the complexity is a ra
re thing. Alex is obviously extremely passionate about teaching and music. Alex goes above the expected level of effort from a teacher, making sure every lesson has new and interesting material to be covered, as well as staying in contact as needed outside of lessons to answer any questions that may arise while practicing. If you are looking for someone who is dedicated to your learning process, as well as doing everything they can to keep material interesting and fun, I would suggest Alex."

"Lessons with William are worth every penny! William came as a recommendation from a group of professional musicians - that's like getting advice on buying
a car from a Formula 1 driver! William understands that music is truly a language you learn to speak fluently. It takes hard work, persistence, and the ability to develop the character it takes to do something really difficult! He not only has developed the skill of reading and playing music, but he knows how to make someone the best version of themselves. William is a part of our family and his influence is a life long blessing."

By Maile Proctor

If you want to add some deep, booming sounds to your drum solos, then you need to develop your bass drum technique . Here, Saint Paul, MN drum instructor John S. shares his five keys to help you improve your bass drumming skills... The bass drum is the heart and soul of the drum set.
