I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.
I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.
*** Lesson Details *** I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!
o Equipment *** I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.
*** Specialties *** Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm. Drums & Percussion: All genres Piano: Classical (includes sight reading)
Everyone has a beautiful voice. Let me teach you how to make it heard.
My passion for music is the most pervasive quality of my personality. Consequently, passing that passion on to others is what brings me the most joy in life. My goal is to spread the love and appreciation for this unique and transcending art form through guidance, performance, and instruction. As my student, you will receive exactly what you (or your child) want out of the lessons-you are the one controlling what you want from them (be it any style of music, professional track or just for fun, music theory, and performance) and I am there to provide it. Music is nothing short of extremely fun and completely liberating.
I have always loved to sing and play guitar and piano starting from a young age, and I never gave up my determination and passion for perfor
ming. In middle and high school I did many musicals (Jekyll and Hyde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver, Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, Footloose, Kiss Me Kate, and Cats) and sang in the choir (including the California All State Honor Choir and Jazz Choir). I played guitar in the school Jazz Band and participated in many jam sessions out of school. I also participated in many piano competitions, including ones for my own composition (I received an honorable mention for one of my own piano works). In college, I received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Redlands. I have recently completed my Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands. I have performed many opera roles including Suor Angelica in Puccini's Suor Angelica, Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata, the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute, and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, and Najade in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos. I was also in the University Chapel Singers Choir, Madrigals Choir, and Treblemakers a Capella Jazz choir. I currently reside in Germany where I am teaching online lessons to students all over the world, teaching English, and pursuing an opera career. So far I have sung the role of the Queen of the Night in Weimar, Germany and have done a few concerts singing Christine from the Phantom of the Opera.
"Hard work beats talent if talent does not work hard." This is my favorite quote. I truly believe that hard work will take you anywhere, no matter where your starting point is. With hard work and determination, you can be anything you want to be. With motivation, anyone can be a beautiful singer, guitarist, and pianist. If I did not believe this with all my heart, I would not be where I am today. To me, every student has great potential. It is my job and joy to bring out that potential and cultivate it into talent, love, and passion.
My lessons are fun and rewarding. I do not believe that a critical environment is one that is healthy or pleasant to learn in. Therefore, I am a very encouraging, patient, and supportive teacher, and I will praise you for your improvements, as well as help you correct your difficulties. I like to think of my lessons as a team effort, with more emphasis on working together and having fun. With that being said, I believe that you get what you put in out of our lessons. The more you practice and the more you show me determination and motivation, the more we can have fun, improve technique, and really make music in our lessons.
I customize each lesson to my student, so you tell me what you want to sing or play and what your goals as a musician are, and I will instruct you (or your child) in the exact way that fits your goals and interests. After a couple months with me, you will have a new found passion for music, knowledge of proper technique, reading and diction, and the skills to perform and communicate pieces of music. Most importantly, you will have the time of your life!
My voice lessons consist of vocal warm-ups where you learn proper technique and posture, breathing exercises to expand your diaphragm and support when you sing, and Repertoire work where you apply the technique you learned, practice performance skills, and learn diction of English, Italian, German, Hebrew, or French.
My guitar and piano lessons start with learning how to read music (if you do not know already) and being familiar with the keys or frets and the notes on the staff. Then we work on pieces of music, paying attention to the key factors of musicianship including rhythm, interpretation, dynamics, composition, musicality, and performance practice. My music theory lessons are based on whatever the student wants to learn or needs instruction on. I teach anywhere from basic music notation to advanced harmonic and formal analysis.
My speaking and lessons are similar to my voice lessons, minus the singing aspect-the same technique we use for singing is the technique we must use for speaking if we want to be heard, be healthy, and not get tired or worse - lose our voice. We work on breathing and projection techniques and then practice on a reading sample or presentation.
My acting lessons consist of different improv-acting games, projection techniques, and monologue and role studies. You will learn how to communicate a message to the audience clearly and effectively while having a wonderful time!
My language and tutoring classes are focused on fluency-getting comfortable speaking in the target language. We go through chapters of a lesson plan I created myself-learning vocabulary and grammar by learning the functions of them and completing speaking goals. After just a few lessons, you will find that you will be able to converse in your target language. Your individual pace is the most important to me, so we learn at the speed that you are the most comfortable with.
All I expect from you is to bring a pencil, a good attitude, and the willingness to practice and work hard in our lessons, and I will supply the rest! Looking forward to hearing your beautiful music or voice!
I have a B.S. in Music Education. I have worked with several disabled students patiently guiding them, finding creative ways to make music accessible to them. I believe it is not about me or the parent, but the student. I work with children of all ages believing that we can find a way that works so that in a few months you see results. Anyone can learn to sing or play but not everyone is going to enjoy it without the right approach and teacher. I don't want to hear a student say that the teacher didn't listen to me, they wouldn't entertain my ideas. In my studio I have a studio piano and a keyboard. We have monitors and microphones and the ability to record. I encourage the composer to the pop music player, from the classical artist to the Broadway singer. Currently, I have several students that compose their own music, helpi
ng one of those students to become a copyrighted artist.
*** Lesson Details *** For the child I have had the most success with the Bastien method and for the Adult pianist I usually use Alfred's method books. I constantly have access to musicnotes.com to download any current or older hit in addition to the method books. I want you to learn to note read and then to play by chords. I never want the student to lose their creative, artistic ability. They should feel welcome at all times to add input to the lesson. I want you to have fun learning and find the ability in you to make music. Please contact Takelessons if a time does not suit your availability. I may be able to work something out.
*** Studio Equipment *** I own my music studio w/ piano, seating for parents. I have vocal equipment, microphones and monitors
*** Travel Equipment *** I will have a music bingo game with me and whatever else is needed to supplement the lesson
*** Specialties *** I teach any style and method that is needed, but prefer Bastien, feeling it doesn't drag the information out. I teach note reading and playing classical music to playing by chords and learning how to split the voicing
Great teacher! She was able to teach my daughter in 3 lessons what her band teacher couldn’t do in 6 months. My daughter walked away after her first lesson excited and couldn’t wait for her next lesson. You can tell Charis loves what she does.

The lesson would have been better if I were not so nervous and played better.
Taught 41 years as a band director Principal Trumpet with Beloit/Janesville Symphony
I like to teach in a style that is functional and interesting. Students will be doing a variety of activities at each lesson. The focus will be determined by their needs.
As students become more proficient in music their enjoyment of musical activities will increase. The success of completing various levels of musical achievement will carry over to other lifetime skills.
*** Lesson Details *** I will work with each student depending on their individual needs. We will strive to produce steady improvement in player proficiency.
*** Travel Equipment *** Student should have a music stand and instrument
*** Specialties *** I like to teach based on the individual. I have taught group and private lessons. The materials I use are varied, with an emphas
is on scales, theory, and also some duet playing. I also like to incorporate some music history into each lesson. I feel that each student needs to work from known to the new areas. I often use supplementary materials (solos or small ensembles) to reinforce my teaching.
Kay is awesome. My daughter loved her. She is very patience and kept Victoria engaged.

Kay is very knowledgeable, kind and accommodating. She is very encouraging and never makes me feel dumb when I hit a sour note. (As a beginning beginner, that happens a lot!) I am amazed at how much I have learned in such a short time!
Greetings, my name is Kay. I have been singing and acting professionally since the age of 8. I started in Broadway Musicals and am presently an Opera and Sacred singer. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Masters in Voice Performance. I have taught private voice lessons in New York City and southeast Wisconsin. My students vary in age from upper elementary to adult professional singers. These students are performing in schools, community theatres, professional dinner theatres, and professional stages in WI, Las Vegas, New York and L.A. The vocal technique I teach is unique and gives fast results. I love singing and helping other singers and actors reach their goals!
Kay seems very knowledgeable and has great experience!

I have been working with Kay for 4 years and have seen great improvement in not only my sound, but my technique, going from a frequent ensemble member, to being fortunate enough to be cast in leading roles, Kay has brought me a very long way.

Kay has been teaching me for about a year now and it has been a wonderful experience. She is always polite and kind when we meet, she is flexible with scheduling when the issues of life come up. Of course she is incredibly knowledgeable with vocal technique and the world of Professional Singing which is very helpful for someone like me who has little experience.
Christiaan is a multi-talented performer in theater, opera, and pop music. He played Gaston in the Broadway tour of Beauty and the Beast. Something of a bad boy, he was kicked out of Opera School for singing jazz, yet he went on to earn three music degrees, and work with opera legend Marilyn Horne and avant-garde composer Jake Heggie. Now he's in New York studying with Lady Gaga's teacher and singing his own arrangements of Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5, and John Mayer at Carnegie Hall while writing and recording pop songs in Nashville and the U.K. Look for his new single That's When You Know.
Christiaan enjoys seeing people succeed, so his approach to teaching is a combination of play and practice. Ultimately we sing because we want to bring people joy, yet to do so, we must hone our talents to perfection. By mixing the joy of music with disci
I just had my first lesson with Christiaan. He was amazing. Gentle, very positive, and really good at observing and figuring out my strengths and weaknesses. He's also inspired me to learn with his love of music and thoughtful approach.

I was blown away by his knowledge and assessment of the skills I should prioritize. My mind was blown several times. Excellent pedagogy and very personable!

I've had a great experience taking lessons with Christiaan! I've had about 10 lessons total now. As someone who doesn't have a background singing, I was definitely a bit nervous going into it, but that didn't last long -- Christiaan's friendly and extremely talented. I especially appreciate that he provides context about posture, history, anatomy, etc. and that he took time early on to learn about my goals. Last but not least, I'm happy with my results so far!
Hey there! My name is Jake, and I'm a lifetime musician. I began playing guitar and taking lessons 19 years ago (at age 8), and writing songs at 5!... my grandma recalls asking me to play "number 5" on the piano, and I'd do as I was asked, right from memory. Guitar, songwriting, and singing have long been my deepest passions, and having the opportunity to help others explore their own creative abilities has always made me feel whole. My style as an artist is especially in line with the Jason Mrazs, Colbie Cailats, and Ed Sheerans of the world, while as a writer I lean towards the styles of Scott Harris and Geoff Warburton (Shawn Mendes). Looking forward to working with creatives and musicians of all types!
Hi, there! My name is Doug and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2007 and have loved helping my students learn their chosen instrument! Many of my former students have gone on to become composers, performers, and active instructors. I went to UW-Milwaukee and earned a degree in Music (Trumpet and Piano Emphasis) in 2009. I'm a fun and enthusiastic instructor and my teaching style reflect this. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
Years of performance experience adds a depth to my teaching and translates into added value for my students. I have performed throughout the Midwest, Tennessee, Florida, and Arizona with the Doug Trio and as a solo artist. Other groups I have performed with include the Oshkosh, Waukesha, Kenosha, Racine, and Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestras, countless pit orchestra
s for a variety of musicals, and more!
Whether instructing piano or trumpet, lessons are always interactive, educational, memorable, and most of all fun!
"I had my first lesson with Neil, so far so great. He is a good teacher and takes pride in his work. He is thorough and seeks to enhance my knowledge."
"We used to take a group piano lesson with a different provider. My 6 years old son keeps chatting in a group environment, so we decided to go with a priva
te piano teacher. We are so lucky that we found Ms. Hanaa, a patient, encouraging, professional and efficient piano teacher. We took 3 lessons so far, and I think my son made more progress than the entire semester when he was in a group class, because he is more focused with the one-on-one environment. And he really likes Ms. Hanna."
"Very talented musician and a great teacher: upbeat and patient."
"My daughter is a beginner and was struggling with her high notes, and Michelle helped her to overcome my daughter's fear of not making right sounds in one
30-minutes class with her optimism, encouragement, and outstanding knowledge. Michelle is fantastic by making flute lessons interesting! Thank you very much!"
"Danny has helped me get comfortable on stage. I always had a fear of talking to my audience in between sets. I get so nervous. Not anymore. So going in fo
r voice and learning how to use a the microphone but also the icing of knowing what to say. I am not perfect now, but not a horrifying mess like I was. Now I can at least speak and feel relaxed. Simplicity singing lessons that f work. :)"
"I've had an amazing experience taking lessons with Lawrence. His teaching style is really well balanced, and he's great at helping me improve on the spec
ific aspects of singing that I need to improve on. The lessons are always fun, too! :)"
"I like her! It's the first lesson with her & looking forward to the next."
I have been taking flamenco guitar lessons with Jaxon for a few months now. I am a beginner to flamenco, and had some technique challenges
up front. He is amazing on guitar, and is able to watch my techniques and find the sticking points. It feels good to know that I'm getting it right early on, so that I don't develop bad habits. Highly recommend him."
