Motivation is crucial and excellence is preferred. That's why in the studio I'll mix up music fundamentals with songs each student enjoys to keep learning fun and motivation high.

In addition, beginner students will be taught note names, fundamental rhythms, and how to sight read. Students will then progress to classic piano literature, supplemented with scales, technique, and music theory. Favorite student songs ranging from hymns to pop and praise & worship can also be incorporated.

I look forward to seeing you succeed!

About Anna

Hi there! I'm Anna, and I'm looking forward to meeting you. I've been offering private piano lessons since 2009 and offer foundations in music theory, technique, sight-reading and classic piano repertoire. I begin most students in Faber method books, before branching into classical repertoir

Anna is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled musician, which inspires her students to want to excel themselves! My 7year old son has been taking lessons from Anna for about 2 years. He is excited to go to his lesson each week! Although my son struggles with some dyslexia, Anna is extremely patient with him and makes him feel like he is valuable and capable. She has adjusted the method and curriculum to find something that works well for him. She carefully explains the lessons, makes my son feel so special, and inspires him to want to learn.

Hi! My name is Nam. I am a freshman Music Major at Pomona College, specializing in Vocal Performance. Music, especially music education, has always been my passion. As a singer, I have performed, both solo and in choral ensembles, at prestigious concert venues such as Carnegie Hall, National Cathedral, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Hanoi Opera House in Vietnam and many others. Throughout high school, I won high acclaims in many vocal competitions and festivals. Last summer, I was one of five singers in Vietnam chosen as a Steinway and Sons Vocal Fellow. During this program, I participated in masterclasses, learned vocal pedagogy and performed a hour-long recital comprised of art songs and opera arias at the Steinway Concert Hall in Hanoi. Now at Pomona College, I am furthering my musicianship and continuing my vocal studies.

As a music educator, I have taught private lessons and conducted youth choral ensembles for 4 years. I conduct an advanced youth chorus in Vietnam every summer, ...

"Great Teacher highly Recommended my voice has greatly improved from taking her series of classes, and she is a great teacher who explains clearly and is very supportive. she is attentive. I also started my son on voice lessons, and Chris is great with kids as she has been teaching children for years. My son has been singing with the school band for a few years, but private lessons have given him more confidence and added to his joy of music."

"I have a self taught singer for a long time until I found Andrew on take lessons and I couldn't be more glad that I did. Andrew came off as warm as a person but also talented and all rounded as a musician. He isn't grounded to teaching broadway or theater but approaches singing in a wholesome and interesting manner. Although we have only been working for a little over a month now Andrew has always been very supportive since day and I'm slowly starting to learn how to like how my voice sounds. Andrew would make sure my voice is properly warmed up at the beginning of every single lesson and his lessons tackle/pinpoint exactly what needed to be worked on in regard to my strengths/weaknesses. Also, I've never had any problems on scheduling with Andrew. He'd always find time for his students and try to make it work for whoever has a busy a schedule. Andrew is an amazing singer who has total control of his voice and would floor you with the things that he can do with his instrument and he's even better as a teacher who doesn't mind sharing his knowledge with you. He has total control of his instrument and isn't afraid to share his knowledge with you. If you're looking to improve yourself as a pop/rock/rnb or just about anything, Andrew would be a great choice for you."

Piano Tips and Techniques: Playing Glissandos

There are many musical terms that you will hear when learning to play any instrument, and the piano is no exception. You probably started off with terms related to tempo, such as largo and allegro, and progressed accordingly. You will learn new terms at every level, so maybe you have already heard the word glissando. Even if you haven’t heard of the term, you probably have heard a glissando in music. For example, Jerry Lee Lewis’s song "Great Balls of Fire" uses glissandos. Derived fr …
