and my daughter Trinity loves her very much. Mrs. Ursula is an AWESOME teacher and great with my five year old. She has done amazing things teaching my five year old. I am so happy to have her as my daughters instructor. She is so knowledgeable and does a great job teaching music."

"Ms. Isabelle is patient and able to reach my wiggly, Star Wars-obsessed kid where he is. She is a great communicator and keeps things interesting for him,
while also pushing him to work to best of his ability. She is clear about her goals for his musicianship. She expects him to not just learn the songs, but to play beautifully. She models professionalism and respect during her lessons."

"I worked with Jen for just over a year and I have to say, not only did I learn a lot about music theory and breathing, but I gained such a great mentor an
d friend. I left Pittsburgh when I graduated and Jen is still there willing to answer questions about anything related to singing. In the year that I worked with her I: performed in three studio performances, auditioned and got the part of Mary Sunshine in my college's production of Chicago, and made it to the semi-finals of the Classical Singer's Competition. Without Jen, I wouldn't have been able to do any of that. I am more confident than ever and I'm still singing!"

"Great Choice with Chase R.
Hiring Chase to work with my daughter is one of the best decisions I've made. He has taught her new skills in guitar instructi
on and by doing has given her a level of confidence that empowers and motivates her. His level of dedication to her exceeds my expectation and as a result we will continue with additional lessons. Having an instructor that appreciates my daughters enthusiasm to learn more and that teaches techniques that further her scope as a guitar player has been a rewarding experience. Thank you Chase!"

"You cannot go wrong with Chau as your instructor!
In the time that I met with Chau, I learned so much. I normally don't feel very comfortable with strang
ers, especially when I'm in a position to mess up, but with Chau I felt totally accepted and successful. We became fast friends, and I enjoyed every lesson we had together. Thanks to the instruction from Chau I discovered that I was capable of things I had only imagined doing. When I got to school this fall my vocal instructor was very impressed with a voice that I didn't have before I met Chau. I owe any success and vocal quality I have to Chau; without her I don't think I would have the vocal confidence that I have now. Chau has a unique talent for taking even the most unlikely voices and people, and helping them discover just what they are capable of. I really never though that I would be able to sing anywhere or, feel OK singing, anywhere but in my shower, however when Chau came into my life I feel like a different me came out. I am so thankful that I met Chau, she is truly one of the most talented and kind people I have ever met; she is upfront and honest because she really cares and isn't just looking to make a buck. If you're looking for a vocal instructor that really cares about helping you develop as a person and as a vocalist, Chau is definitely worth meeting."

"I took mandolin lessons from Tara for about a year and a half, and I can't say enough good things about her. I was a complete beginner when I started wit
h her, and now I feel prepared and comfortable when I play at jams. Tara taught me a wide repertoire of tunes. She taught me ways to play different chords, how to move chords, how different players may use different chords in different styles, how to read guitar chords, how to adapt when guitars use capos, and how to simplify or add chords. She has really good insight on how to start improvising and taking breaks. I think she adapts her teaching to use the technique that will help make the concept make sense to you. She is a lot of fun to learn from, and it is super inspiring to watch her play. Tara is an awesome teacher, and I highly recommend her!"
As a life-long singer and lover of music, Jenny looks forward to sharing her experience with you. She spent most of her high school and college years in music classrooms and on stages in concerts and numerous musical theatre productions, including Best of Broadway and other Sacramento-area theatres. One of her greatest experiences was studying voice and singing in the American River College Chamber Singers, directed by Perla Warren.
Jenny studied voice with international opera tenor, Joseph Frank, at San Jose State University. She sang with the SJSU Concert Choir and Choraliers, direct
ed by Dr. Charlene Archibeque, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance in 1995. She has also been a credentialed music teacher since 1997 and has taught all ages and grade levels, including concert, chamber and jazz choirs, music theory, music appreciation, and elementary general music. She has also been a private voice and piano teacher for more than 20 years.
Jenny is a founding member of The Choral Project, directed by Daniel Hughes, and is currently the soprano section leader of the Sacramento Master Singers, directed by Dr. Ralph Hughes. She also directs the choir at Christ the King Lutheran Church and performs regionally as a soloist. She is passionate about musical theatre and has recently worked as a vocal director with Christian Youth Theatre and Stage Right Productions.
Jenny especially enjoys working with singers to help build confidence as soloists, theatre performers and choir/chorus members. She is also a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and works to stay current on issues surrounding vocal health and success. She also enjoys helping singers and pianists work on musicianship and performance skills.
*** Lesson Details *** Voice: For ages 10 through adult, beginning through early-advanced levels. We will work toward accomplishing your goals in an encouraging environment and will work on improving breath, tone, and singing with good vocal health. My favorite activities are helping students prepare for auditions and performances!
Piano: For ages 5 through adult, beginning through intermediate levels. I like to have an age-appropriate lesson book for every student, as well as supplementary books that are exciting and help the student achieve his or her goals. I believe that everyone should have at least a little piano experience in their life, no matter what age they are! Students MUST own a piano or keyboard with touch sensitivity.
*** Studio Equipment *** Piano, music stand, CD/iPod
*** Specialties *** Classical, musical theatre, light pop, note-reading skills, performance/audition preparation, basic/intermediate piano skills and musicianship

Fantastic singing teacher!
Jenny is amazing! Her friendly personality and professional responses made me eager to go to class and improve. She's always responded to my calls or emails right away.
With a Bachelor's Degree in music from California State University Sacramento I studied with the best, including graduates from Juilliard and Eastman. I focus on what my students want to play and provide a harmonic grounding to enable the student to improvise or just "jam" with anybody. I also provide a positive reinforcement atmosphere and will accept ground floor beginners to advanced intermediate students.
*** Lesson Details *** I believe it's important to create a relaxed, stress free lesson atmosphere to encourage creativity and self confidence. While mistakes are expected I believe b
uilding a students self confidence will make those mistakes disappear. We'll start with fundamentals which will build your understanding of what you're playing and be able to apply it to whatever music you wish to play.
*** Travel Equipment *** Student must have own piano.
*** Specialties *** I read music and can sight read any style. I specialize in classical, but also play jazz, ragtime and new age music.

Ronald is a really awsome piano instructor. He is friendly , knowledgeable and patience. I would recommend Ronald, piano teacher, to my friends and family!!
My name is Justin B. and I've been a professional drummer and instructor the last 15 years. I have toured extensively throughout the United States, as well as playing in the UK. I have been a part of many recordings and sessions during that time and have the knowledge to teach about what those experiences are like.
Currently, I am a member of the Street Drum Corps based out of Los Angeles. We have done TV shows including Cartoon Network's Hall Of Game Awards, as well as the opening segment of Kevin Nealon's special comedy show "Whelmed, But Not Overly." which aired on Showtime.
I am a
drummer that has been playing in some of the top nightclubs throughout California, Las Vegas, Arizona, and Chicago. I have been drumming alongside some very notable DJ's and am providing some of the newest entertainment in that industry.
I am currently endorsed with Pro-Mark drum sticks, Evans Drumheads, Soultone Cymbals, and play Shine Custom Drums.
*** Lesson Details *** The focus on lessons are to identify the goals of the student, and tackle those immediately. Not interested in learning on a snare drum first? No problem. I prefer to have students playing behind a drum set from day one. I reinforce lessons through teaching true drum notation, making it easier for students to accomplish their goals in a timely matter. I like to keep things laid back and will not be a "task master" type of teacher. I want to make lessons as fun and comfortable as possible and strive to make that happen.
I use a number of instructional books from some of the best publishers of music instruction including The Drummer's Collective Series, as well as Berklee School Of Music Publishing. There are a number of DVD's as resources too! These instructional books cover a wide variety of topics including: Rock Drumming, Funk/Linear Drumming, Jazz Drumming, Latin/Afro-Cuban Drumming, Double Bass Drumming, and Rudimental Drumming.
It is my goal to have the student playing at least two different styles of drumming within the first 3 months, and being at an intermediate level within the first six months. The student will have an understanding of music notation and being able to interpret different rhythms. Most students like to learn songs and within the first six months, the student should have at least two songs memorized.
*** Travel Equipment *** The student will need to have a drum set.
*** Specialties *** I like to teach utilizing drum method books and reinforcing lessons with actual drum notation. I feel this is the basis of a solid drum education and helps to make learning songs and more enjoyment from drumming happen faster. I teach Rock, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Hip-Hop/R&B, Top 40, and Techno/EDM. I also have the ability to teach concert band drummers up to the High School level.

Justin is a tremendous drummer and his experience from student to performer makes him an excellent teacher. He customizes the lessons to what I want to do and learn, and makes it fun in the process. I look forward to my weekly lessons and wish I could go more often.

Instructor was very helpful
I am an experienced drummer that got back into playing 2 years ago after a 15 year hiatus. I called Take Lessons to get an instructor that could look at my playing abilities and help me learn where my deficiencies were and work on them.
It was really great getting to know Justin, with his insight and ability to see what was going on with me, I was able to get focused and overcome those deficiencies or at least work on them.
He gave me a new direction to go with my rehearseal time that I hadn't yet thought of. I will help with my speed and accuracy.
I'm really glad that I called and am happy to call Justin a new friend.
Hey there! Maybe you are just getting started playing and need some guidance. Maybe you have a firm grasp on things but feel like something is missing. No matter the case, you've come to the right place to expand your musical knowledge. Not to mention have a lot of fun doing it!
My name is Dylan M. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I have been playing music since I was 8 years old. I received 2 local music scholarships and a general academic scholarship. I am currently attending college for my music degree. I spent much of my time being a teachers aid for the music classes at the high sch
ool I attended. I love playing music and do it every chance I get. To me there is nothing more fun than learning a great new song and playing with other musicians.
I spent years studying music and putting the pieces together. I want to help you avoid the frustration of not knowing what to practice and how to practice. I can help you discover your talents by teaching in a straightforward and common sense approach. I encourage a relaxed but focused learning environment.
It is a great time to take lessons with me because I am currently taking music courses full time in college so I am immersed in the subject. Music has been my main passion.
*** Lesson Details *** I teach all levels of guitar and beginning and intermediate piano/keyboard.
Having exercise/song/workbooks is extremely helpful for players who want to learn fast.
And of course, these are just guidelines, we will see what works best. I have several books that I normally use that I find work really well.
Available instruments for hands on learning are guitar, bass, and keys. I will explore with you the ways to create original music or I can simply show you what it takes to play your favorite songs. I can keep you engaged by giving you important information from technique and theory books but then immediately show you how what you learn in the books can be applied.
I find it very important to teach aspiring musicians a broad understanding of music. We need to understand why it works in order to effectively play and create music.
During the first lesson I will focus on seeing what level your playing is at and would like to get out of music lessons. From there we will jump in to learning by focusing on material for your skill level and interest. I will help you with your specific needs while also going over what any musician needs to be successful. During lessons I will give you exercises to practice including reading charts/notes and playing. I will identify how you best learn and fit the lessons to you. I have a tried and true approach that will get you seeing improvement as long as you practice and are ready to learn.
It is extremely important that you practice regularly. That way you can see real progress. As you can see, I feel it is very important to structure lessons in order to have success. We will work in sequence and build your skill from the ground up. That said I love catering to individual students needs and want to make sure I teach them what they want to learn. If you have something particular you want to learn. Be sure to let me know.
*** Studio Equipment *** At my studio I have a great keyboard, several guitars, a bass, 2 amplifiers, and some simple recording equipment, as well as relevant textbooks. I have everything needed for quality lessons. Be sure to have your own instrument.
*** Travel Equipment *** For guitar lessons I will bring my guitar and any handouts for that lesson. If you are using one of the books I will use your copy to give you practice materials as well. I will bring my guitar tuner, but being a guitarist, it is important that you invest in a tuner, picks, and buy strings when you need them.
For piano lessons I will bring any handouts for that lesson. I will use your book that you purchased at the beginning of your lessons to give you practice materials.
*** Specialties *** Pop Rock, Pop, Hard Rock, Groove Metal, Contemporary, Jazz, Classic Rock, Pop Punk, Thrash, Blues, Country, Classical
I love so many styles of music. I help students with any style they wish and I love to incorporate different styles together. Seemingly very different music styles such as classical vs more aggressive rock may seem like two different worlds but they really are closely related! I show students how to know what notes to use over which chords and how chords relate to one another through the teaching of modes, and the diatonic chords within a scale.
With the determination to create this art and the right tools nothing is holding you back!
I teach fingerstyle, picking, alternate picking, economy picking, tapping, appropriate use of the whammy bar, palm muting, inversions, chord functions, progressions, scale degrees, harmonics, syncopation, modes, finger strength exercises, rhythm exercises, speed exercises, and more. And of course, I show you how it all relates and why it's important so you can utilize your new knowledge!

Per my 8 year old grandson, Brennen, Dylan is the best. He is cool and takes his time. Brennen likes the fact that Dylan will go over something time and again till he understands and is able to play the notes. Brennen leaves the lesson feeling happy and very excited.

Hi, this is Allie's dad. I'm responding to the previous review. This person was 21 miles away and at least a 40 minute drive in traffic. Allie's profile stated within 10 miles. It was clearly a miscommunication, and Allie apologized and even offered a free lesson at our house as compensation. Driving an hour and 20 minutes is not feasible. This person never took a lesson from Allie.

I paid 150 for lessons 2 weeks ago for Allie. A week later she cancelled her first lesson with my 12 year old daughter due to not feeling well, which is fine. Another week later, the day of the next scheduled lesson she asked for my address at 1 and at 3 tells me I live 12 miles away and she will only travel 10 miles away because that is an hour out of her time that she can be teaching and that either she has to charge me more or I will have to drive to her. No where on the website does it say that she only travels 10 miles and the website let me chose in home lessons. My problem is this... A professional would have asked for the address and checked the location before cancelling and making a 12 year old little girl who has her hear set on guitar lessons wait 2 weeks to only be told she won't travel this far in the first place. Very disappointing.

The 10 Best Guitar Soloists of All Time

6 Tools to Learn Piano at Home
Piano may be one of the toughest instruments to learn, because of all the multitasking required! You have to be able to read two different musical lines simultaneously, and keep track of what both your left and right hands are doing, all while your foot works the pedals. While most schools have classes to teach students band instruments or stringed instruments, few schools offer piano instruction. This means that most piano students learn how to play at home and in private piano lessons, instead
