In today’s world singers need to know how to perform many styles of music. Many opera singers also sing Broadway and jazz, and all Broadway singers need to sing traditional, jazz, swing, pop, and maybe rock and folk styles. To do this, you need strong physical skills to sing belt, mixed and legit voice. You need strong high, middle and low notes and the ability to sing loud and soft and to modulate from bright to mellow. You need to know your instrument inside and out - how it functions and how to make it work safely, reliably and with good results.

I am unique because of my combined musical and medical backgrounds. In addition to my graduate and undergraduate musical training and extensive musical experience, I was a surgeon and taught anatomy and physiology. Part of my medical training included studying the mechanics of how the body works and its application.

I teach vocal lessons for all ages and all experiences. I want to help people understand how their voice works, how to use it well and to ultimately enjoy singing. My lessons (can) include breathing exercises, warm-up exercises, sight-singing, ear training and then working on a specific repertoire. Each lesson is crafted to my students goals and desires for personal growth and knowledge.

Hi! I was born and raised in Soviet Union, where I studied piano since I was 5 years old. I am a native Russian speaker, a classical pianist, singer and professional educator. I received my degree in piano performance and pedagogy in 1992, and have been teaching since then. I have lived (and taught) all over the world, and I love what I do. I love teaching, and have a extensive experience (over 20 years) teaching music, piano and singing. I can conduct lessons in English, Russian or Spanish. I place great importance on cultivating passion for learning and music in my students, as learning with passion is the key to excellence.

I've taught singing to children, teens, and adults since 2006. My Masters degree training has afforded me the opportunity to be well versed in effective vocal techniques that will help you succeed. My main goal is to help you to develop your own set of tools, and better understand your unique voice as an artist. Make sure to wear clothing you can move in during our sessions, and, most importantly, explore and just have fun!

As your teacher, I want your lesson to be more than just singing through a few songs.
While what specifically happens during a voice lesson can vary greatly from student to student and from week to week, the overall structure of the lessons remains similar.
We will always start with some combination of warm-ups for your breath, body, and voice. Just as you wouldn't go running without first stretching and warming up your muscles, you don't want to start singing full songs without first getting your body and voice warmed up.
Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way.
