About Don
The focus here at my guitar school is on teaching you to play guitar through the music you enjoy listening to. If you enjoy what you are playing then you will be inspired. If you are inspired you will practice and if you practice you WILL get results!

There are plenty of other guitar teachers out there so why would you want to learn from me? The simplest reason I can give is because I really care. I will do whatever it takes to insure you fully understand and can play everything I teach you. I'll be there with you every step of the way!

~ We use a structured guitar method focused on taking you from the very beginning stages of learning to play guitar onwards to whatever skill level you desire to reach

~ You'll learn to play guitar by picking songs that YOU want to learn whether that be songs by Taylor Swift, Beatles, Green Day, M
etallica, Zeppelin etc...

~ We'll jam on these songs along with full band backing tracks. You'll be the guitar player in the band! Next, we'll record your performances and create cool videos with them.

~I'm there for you whenever you need help! Just go to your student classroom, view any of the video lessons and if you still have questions go to the chat room and ask away. I'm here to help!

I asked questions, Don answered them. Very personable, to me, seems to know a great deal about teaching guitar. Looking forward to my next lesson.

About Max
I have worked with over 2,500 students in one-on-one lessons, educational workshops, and outreach concerts. My lessons focus on developing technique, practice strategies, a good sound, aural skills, music theory knowledge, and stylistic fluency.

My private students have placed into selective programs including the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble at The Hartt School, the Connecticut Music Educators Association All-State Band, and Interlochen Arts Camp. I teach saxophone at Manchester Community College, South Windsor High School, Camp Encore / Coda, and Music and Arts East Hartford. I believe students of all ages can find enjoyment and success in music.

You'll benefit from my years of experience as a professional performing musician. From 2012-2016 I toured with the Asylum Quartet, an award-winning ensemble acclaimed for virtuo
sity, creativity, and innovation. I have also performed with the Juilliard Orchestra, the U.S. Coast Guard Band, and International Opera Theater. I hold a Master's in Music from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Arizona State University (ASU).

Though I specialize in saxophone, I also love teaching beginning and intermediate piano.

If you are outside my travel radius, I may be able to accommodate you for an additional travel fee - please contact me!

***Lesson Materials***

Saxophone students must have an instrument in good repair and required accessories (reeds, mouthpiece, etc.). Piano students must have access to a tuned piano or an electric keyboard with touch-sensitive, weighted keys. I am happy to recommend instrument and accessory brands; please check with me before a major purchase. Quality, working equipment is critical to students’ success.

I periodically request that students purchase books and other lesson materials.

IMPORTANT: If you are planning to buy a saxophone, piano/keyboard, or mouthpiece, please consult with me first. Having good-quality instrument/accessories will help you achieve your success. There are a number of cheap products that are easy to find and purchase, but they are often of poor quality. I can recommend options for your first purchase that may be more expensive, but will help you succeed in the long term.

Roberta is amazing! I went to her for a little more than 3 years for voice (and piano for a little bit) and she is very helpful, skilled, friendly, knowledgable, and fun. She helped me get into my top choice college as a choral music major with a full tuition scholarship and supported me the entire way. Roberta knows how to work with any voice with any level of experience of any age. Not only is Robera a fantastic teacher; she is also very understanding and a great person to talk to. I would highly recommend her to any student in the area.

About Adam
I'm the principal tubist with a premier U.S. service band and also the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. I have been a featured soloist several times with the band, and just recently appeared on a CD release as soloist. I've been playing professionally in New England for almost 20 years, having been involved with various orchestras, quintets, and brass ensembles.

I enjoy performing, but teaching has unique rewards as well. I teach from home and prefer to do so in person, but I'm open to online lessons if students/parents feel confident in their technical knowledge. I expect students to ask questions and be ready to "put in the work" outside of lessons, because that is where progress is made.

Superb drum instructor! He has been giving my son Tyler drum set lessons since last fall and I am amazed at his progress. Dave is patient but enthusiastic, and an excellent musician - he always goes the extra mile for Tyler, bringing him new exercises and ideas. Before his spring concert, Tyler had a 'musical emergency' and Dave came over to give him an extra lesson on a Sunday - he's really amazing!

Learning the Guitar Fretboard Notes [BONUS: Guitar Notes Chart]
Memorizing the guitar fretboard notes is something every beginning guitarist should work toward. Here, we'll share a quick exercise and guitar notes chart to help you get started. If the guitar had only one string, it would be quite easy to understand the mechanics of the guitar fretboard. It would be laid out just like a piano, where the further to the right you go, the higher the pitch and vice versa. It's not that easy when it comes to understanding a traditional six-string guitar.
Blues Guitar Basics: How to Play a Blues Shuffle
Ready to learn to play blues guitar? This lesson from guitar teacher James W. is the perfect place to start... What is a shuffle, anyway? A shuffle is a rhythm of 8th notes played in triplets, essentially playing 3/4 time over a 4/4 beat to make the music swing. Blues, pop, jazz, and rock musicians all use the shuffle. The blues shuffle is a fun pattern that is simple to absorb into your playing across many genres of music. Think of pop, rock, big band, and blues as being a part of the sam
