Twenty eight years of experience working with students of all levels and ages has shaped me into the teacher I am today. Although I do tailor my sessions to suit the individual student, here are some expectations you can have of me.
Beginning students up to age 11 typically begin with the Bastien method. This curriculum is great at introducing interval recognition. I supplement this with fun pieces from Alfred, where students can strengthen sight reading skills. Flashcards are also used as reinforcement.
Older kids and adults will begin with Alfred's adult course and progress quickly into independent playing.

For all ages - After the student has reached a level of more independent playing, the student/parent will help select the direction in which we progress. Classical music, composition, and popular music are just a few of the possibilities!

All lesson books and materials are provided by me and are included in the cost of lessons. Students are welcome to provide additional

My mother is a Pianist so I grew up having lessons and playing the Piano. Any musician who would like to become more serious needs to be prolific in their Piano playing. I also use the Piano as a tool for ear training and visualizations for theory. I enjoy playing the Piano and use it as a way to relax when I am not playing my French horn. I love teaching Piano players of all ages!

I am an adult beginner violinist. When I first met Stephanie, I had barely touched a violin, but I was determined to learn how to play it. With her help and patience, I am progressing through the Suzuki method as well as doing ear training and music theory. Stephanie is an excellent musician as well as instructor! Her method of teaching keeps the students engaged, encouraged and excited about learning music from all sides of it.

I strongly recommend Ms. Quinn. She is amazing. I love a teacher who is passionate about what she does and Ms. Quinn has motivated me to love the violin and work harder to improve. She is slightly strict but very patience and kind, always pushing you to work hard and do your best. I learned to play violin a few years ago as a beginner and stopped playing for a few years. I was nervous to begin online violin lessons considering that I learn better face to face. However, Ms. Quinn has done an amazing job at teaching me, I have been taking lessons with her for a year now and have learned so much I didn’t know before which has also grown my love for violin.
Hui F.
Stephanie helped my younger one prepare for competition. She was highly skillful, supportive yet strict. Initially, my girl was a bit nervous to work with Stephanie because of her high reputation. Stephanie was very kind and fun, using metaphors to help my 10-year old understand the music. She not only helped my child overcome barriers to master the music piece but also shared much practical advice for competition. We did not expect this but my 10-year old won the first prize and was invited to perform in Carnegie Hall New York. Highly recommend Stephanie!!!

"Jesse is a great instructor. I've been taking piano classes from him over Skype for about 4 months. He's both knowledgeable and fun, which greatly adds to the effectiveness of the lessons. I'm consistently impressed with his patience, resourcefulness, and ability to help me work through problems even when I'm struggling. Jesse uses a wide range of online tools to help teach music theory, which is great since I'm a visual learner. All in all, I've been very impressed with his teaching style and the results I'm getting. I absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a great instructor."

"Life changing. That’s how I would describe my lessons with Randy. I went to him just to improve my piano skills. He had so much more in store for me. He doesn’t just want you to learn a skill, he wants to truly develop your artistry and relationship with music. He is an angel. In my short time with him he has helped me to heal my performance anxiety, my resistance to write my own music, drastically improved my relationship with music, helped me to figure out more of who I am, and so so so so so much more. He truly cares about your growth as an artist and a person. I can not recommend him enough and wish everyone could experience his incredible lessons. ‘Thank you’ will never be enough for what he has done for me."

"Shortly after my 37th birthday, I decided I wanted to learn to play piano. Although I hadn't touched a musical instrument in over 20 years and forgotten a vast majority of what I had learned as a child, Ruth was there to coach me through the process. She's incredibly knowledgeable about music, shown flexibility when I've had scheduling conflicts, and genuinely cares about my progress. She's been instrumental (pun intended!) in my musical journey and I can't say enough great things about her. Thank you, Ruth!"

She brought me to an intermediate level in piano, and she gave me special exercises, appropriate for my voice and age, to help improve my singing. She has a fun and unique way of teaching her students, and she is a very dedicated teacher. She is nice with kids, warmhearted, and very talented. I always look forward to seeing Dora. He has a way to make his students feel so inspired that they never want to give up and learn so much quicker in a much shorter time. He is also a brilliant composer and in my book Howard is by far the best teacher around. "Randy is super helpful and experienced. I enjoy lessons and practicing. He was able to assess my lifestyle and give me some real tips/insights on effective practice. He also encouraged the skills I already built to this point. Probably the first teacher I’ve had who didn’t tell me “forget everything you know” because my real education is about to begin. He’s real, he’s practical, and he’s a genuinely good guy. And his years of experience give him this ability to be very direct and efficient with his feedback. It’s a relief to have that especially after studying music for so long. He doesn’t waste your time.

Lastly, I really do enjoy practice. It’s a new feeling lol. I came from a teacher that just tore me down a lot and didn’t build me up much. My confidence was kind of low after that. I didn’t want to practice or perform. Randy helped get me back on the horse. I feel like I have reignited what I live about performance. This was priceless."
