About Octavio
I have been teaching voice for 10 years and my beginner students are already singing their own gigs. I have had only one advanced student in singing and in 2010 he got the zarzuela prize in the most prestigious opera competition in the world "Placido Domingo´s Operalia). I can teach in Spanish, English, and Italian. and for the voice, I specialize in opera and mariachi music. In guitar as well as in Piano I only teach beginners.

*** Lesson Details ***
For voice, opera and mariachi are my fields of expertise, however, I have taught other genres. I firmly believe that with great discipline and a huge desire for success, a student could be singing in less than 6 months in a proper, healthy and beautiful way.

For guitar and for Piano, since it is for beginners, is very simple and fast, and as well as singing, if you do your homework
, then the achievements will come faster than you think!!!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I need from students to provide a piano or a keyboard for voice Lessons and for Piano lessons; I will provide the music, or they can buy their own music. For guitar, they have to have a classical guitar and I will bring mine so that we both can use a guitar.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in opera (for voice), but it is adaptable to any kind of singing. In Guitar and Piano is only for beginners.

I do no come from a singing background, however I am a stage actor. I first went in search of a voice teacher because I was told that my instrument was not strong and I needed to train it. I was so lucky to find Octavio. Not only is he an amazingly talented and gifted artist himself, but he has the patience and the nurturing capacity I feel all teachers and coaches should have when teaching. I walked into my first class not knowing a thing about voice, but he did not dumb down anything because of that. He expects excellence and professionalism from you and will challenge you to go beyond where you think you could. With out him I am certain I would not have been prepared for graduate school acting auditions. I am very sad to see him go, but I'm glad that others will get to experience his gift! Thank you so much Octavio! You really have helped my confidence so much as a performer and set me on a path to learn more about voice and to seek more training.

About Adam
I have been writing and performing music since he was 15. Along the way I have played or recorded with numerous notable bands including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees George Clinton and Parliament Funkedic, and members of Bob Dylan's band. In classical music, I have learned music composition under Dan Asia at the University of Arizona and East Indian Classical music from master musician Ali Akbar Khan at the Ali Akbar School of Music. I have been teaching lessons in guitar, vocals, banjo, and harmonica for 15 years. My lessons are always focused on whatever style the student is most interested in, yet still incorporate a dose of music theory and other styles to help inspire well rounded musicians. I can teach to any age, in any genre, as well as help with songwriting, performance techniques, recording skills, and classical compositi
on. Whether you want to learn to play songs from your favorite band, rock out with awesome guitar solos, play beautiful spanish guitar pieces, or write you masterpiece, I can help you realize your musical dreams. My goal is to inspire the next generation of musicians to get the most out of their instrument, and foster a life long love of music that can enrich their lives and the world around them.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher with a diverse and serious knowledge of music. I truly love music and inspiring new or continuing musicians. I can adapt my lessons to the student so that if you have professional goals I will do my best to challenge and help you to reach them, or if you are a child who is just beginning I will do my best to teach you in a fun and relaxed manner that keeps you excited to come back and learn more the next week. No matter what the age or skill level I take my job very seriously, and try to make the process seriously fun.
If the students is interested in reading standard music notation I teach from the Hal Leonard Guitar Method series, which are the books of choice for countless music instructors. After 3 to 6 months most students have finished at least the first book in the series and can read and play simple songs easily.
If you are interested in reading tablature or chord charts, I have many lesson plans from years of experience that can quickly teach you how to play everything from simple folk songs and popular music to complex Jimi Hendrix solos.
If you are interested in classical guitar, or vocals I start with books of simple spanish guitar etudes and can work with you all the way up to complex advanced works from Segovia and the other masters. In a few months, even beginning students can play beautiful pieces that will impress family and friends.
If you are a banjo student I teach from the Hal Leonard Banjo Method series. I can work with simple clawhammer techniques, or more complex bluegrass methods. In a few months most students can play many simple country and folk songs.
If you are a vocal student I can teach anything from rock/country styles, to showtunes and classical techniques. In a few months I can show how to sing and breath correctly, and help learn how to read music and train your ears to sing in tune.

*** Studio Equipment ***
practice room, amps, and the paper to write down the lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have all the necessary equipment, guitars, banjos, amps, etc. I expect the student to have their own instrument, but I can provide something for the lesson like an amplifier.

*** Specialties ***
I can teach any genre or method. I base the lessons on the students desires and abilities, not on any predetermined plan I may have. I can teach in standard notation, tablature, chord charts, or improvisational methods. I can also teach songwriting, performance/recording techniques, and classical composition.

I took 10 banjo lessons from Adam, starting iwth zero prior experience. After 1 lesson I could play and sing Clementine, after 2 Oh Susannah. Now I am working on Country Roads. Adam is great: good teacher, super smart, amazingly talented and knowledgeable, friendly. I would continue with Adam except I am moving out of town. But he got me a good enough start that I am sure I will continue with this instrument.

About Scott
As a composer I have found it necessary never to stray too far from performance. The shear exhilaration one can obtain through playing an instrument is unique and powerful. I have devoted my life to trying to understand and master this elusive beast we call Music. As a child, of a peculiar spirit, I demanded my parents get me guitar and piano lessons. I felt an instant connection to these instruments and was compelled to investigate. After years of inquiry I ended up attending New School for the Arts, a high school devoted to the arts where I
studied music composition. From there, I went on to the University of Arizona to receive degrees in Music Composition and Philosophy with minors in Mathematics and English Literature. For my Masters' programs I wondered into the world of contemporary composers and experimental music at Mills College
in Oakland where I finished my M.A. in Music Composition as well as my M.F.A. in Electronic Music and Recording Media. All the while pursuing a mastery of the instruments that caught my ear in the first place.

I have now returned to Tucson to work on my music and further my education in the field of philosophy at the University of Arizona.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am laid back and playful in my approach. I like to gear lessons toward the interests of the student, and if I am doing my job correctly, all traditional technique will be painless. I also like to delve into music theory to give one a deeper appreciation as well as an understanding and steady grasp of the tools of composition if their heart is so inclined. When it comes to music I am rather eclectic and I feel every style has something to add to the techniques of a solid performer, so I tend to draw from many disparate places to offer a fuller experience. In no time at all, you should be playing pieces you love, understanding how they work, and perhaps embellishing them or writing your own.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Keyboard, Guitar, Amps

*** Travel Equipment ***
Provide: My guitar, music stand, and amp if necessary.
Student Provides: Their instrument (Piano/guitar etc.)

I am a Retired Federal Special Agent and I was born in Glasgow, Scotland. I've always wanted to learn how to play the Highland Bagpipes. I met William a few years ago and he has made my dream come true. William is a caring and patient instructor. He will teach you all details and techniques of playing the instrument and how to play the tunes correctly. William will take a complicated piece of music and will show you an easy path to successful completion of of playing the tune. I have seen William teach all ages and genders and special needs students and all have been successful musicians. William has transformed this hard headed student from a person that could not read music to a performing as a band member with the Tucson Highlanders Pipe band. I STRONGLY recommend William as a Bagpipe Instructor.

William as been giving me lessons on the bagpipes since January of 2013, and I have enjoyed every minute of it. William's guidance, style, and skill have taken me from my first lesson on the practice chanter to my first public performances.

William has a easy-going, comfortable and capable style of teaching. He is comfortable adapting to each student's wants and needs rather than forcing each student to follow the same lessons and learning path. He has taught the bagpipes to students from all walks of life and ages.

I've been very happy with his training. I'm looking forward to continuing my training with him, and would recommend him to beginners and experienced musicians alike.

William is an amazing teacher. Not only has he taught me to play the bagpipes but has also managed to form a greater appreciation for music in general. The little tidbits of information he throws into a lesson really stick with my mind and thus I feel I have learned a great deal more than just one instrument. He has clearly been teaching for a long time, you can tell by his patience and his resourcefulness of teaching techniques depending on the student. While he will show you proper technique he also throws in an analogy that manages to make a complicated piece of music understandable. I strongly recommend lessons from William if you want to learn the instrument and the music of bagpiping.

My student's age from adult all the way down to 5th grade and every lesson is tailored to the individual needs of the student, focusing on a strong foundation and musicality. About Julia
I'm a passionate professional vocalist and a fourth generation music educator. With 20+ years of professional performing, coaching and teaching experience under my belt, my vocal teaching method unites my classical and musical theatre educational background with the techniques I have developed for singing Jazz, Rock, R&B, Country, etc believably, beautifully, and above all, safely!

In expanding my teaching practice to include piano and ukulele, I emphasize rhythm and musicality alongside technique and note reading. I always set myself the goal of learning what makes a musician sound "right," and not just "good" in a particular genre. This versatility has made me extremely employable as an artist, and, I think, uniquely qualified to teach. I believe that students will work harder on music that moves them, and I always encourage students
to suggest songs that they care about. Good technique(s) can be applied to any repertoire!

On the day of our first lesson, my son decided he did not want to take any singing or piano lessons after all. Since it was too late to cancel, and with the hopes he might change his mind, we went ahead with the lesson. Julia stayed professional, calm, and warm through the whole session, despite my son's lack of enthusiasm, and she tried everything to make him comfortable. She told him that the fear of singing in front of people is very normal, explained how lessons would work were he to continue, and gave a bunch of very helpful tips on singing AND piano in terms a 12 year old understands. Hopefully he will decide this is something he wants to do after all. Julia was obviously very knowledgeable, talented, and great with kids, and I hope we can continue lessons with her.

We are very happy with Julia's teaching of piano to our young daughter.
Julia deftly adapted her instruction to accommodate our daughter's interactivity level, and never over-praised, as modern psychology says is the correct way.
Our daughter practices spontaneously on her own, which can be at least partially attributed to Julia's teaching style.

Thank you, Julia.

About Elly
Hi, thanks for reading! My name is Elly. I was originally inspired to learn violin when I was only a toddler, and saw a performance of Riverdance. I fell in love with Irish fiddle, but I was still too little to hold one!

So, I got started on classical violin in elementary school and then viola during middle school, when my orchestra teacher convinced me that it was the superior instrument (haha... I still love both for different reasons). I pursued classical viola all the way through my attendance at the University of Arizona, as part of numerous string ensembles and symphonic orchestras. I continued independent studies of violin, frequently attending Bluegrass and Irish music jams and festivals.

One of my favorite musical experiences was being part of the Northwest Intergenerational Community Orchestra: a full symphony in which membe
rs ranged in age from 9 to 90, and skill levels from first-year player to retired career professionals. I started as a guppy and ended up a respected mentor after several years' participation. Being immersed in that environment was simply amazing, and showed me that age and experience are never a limiting factor in the kind of unified beauty that can ensue from musical passion.

During high school, I also discovered that I love to compose original works and create arrangements. I have had my pieces performed by the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the Tucson Junior Strings Youth Orchestra. I can teach you about that sort of thing as well, if you're interested!

I currently teach high school at a charter school that does promote Fine Arts, but there is not enough interest among the student body to have an orchestra- so I miss teaching string players! Sure, I love my math and science, but music will always hold a dear place in my heart. Hopefully, I get the opportunity to share that with you.

I started playing the clarinet in 6th grade. I soon realized that I was a decent musician, but the clarinet just wasn't fulfilling... then I saw it. The BASSOON. I fell in love with this instrument. So much so, that I have two degrees and professionally play in Arizona! I currently play in the Tucson Symphony, Arizona Opera, True Concord Voices and Orchestra (Grammy-nominated), and Broadway in Tucson.

I have had my own bassoon studio since 2002. I started in Florida and moved out here to begin my doctorate in bassoon performance. I am originally from Columbus, GA, where I received my Bachelor's in Music Performance degree. I then went to Florida State University and completed my Master's of Music Performance degree after being a full-time teaching assistant.

I have been making my own bassoon reeds from scratch since 1996 and continue to
research and hone my craft. I have a professional reed-making business through Etsy and eBay, and soon to be (unofficially) bassoon/oboe websites.

Being a crafty person, I am also trying to develop my own silk bassoon swabs and bassoon-wrapped pencils! When I am not doing that, I make my own jewelry to give to friends and family.
