Rob B.

Austin, TX

About Rob

I have been playing guitar since August 1992. I cut my teeth on the alternative music that was popular at the time (Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Nirvana) but soon began to focus on earlier movements, specifically the playing styles and mindsets of Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Eric Clapton. I formed a band in 1996 and began gigging in Austin and throughout Texas. During this time, I immersed myself in jazz and did everything I could to bring the sonic palettes of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, and Miles Davis into my playing, even taking up saxophone and piano in order to better understand what they were doing. I eventually moved back to my hometown of Lubbock, where I graduated from Texas Tech University with a BA in English and a minor in Music, having played guitar and

Great Voice Instructor!

I have been taking lessons with Susanna for close to 6 months and she has been a great teacher. I feel a lot more confident in my singing ability and I look forward to each lesson. I learn something new everytime. I am completely new to singing and she makes sure that you are comfortable in the environment and caters to your needs and what you would like to work on.

The piano lesson is for my daughter Laetitia. I never stayed with her when she had her piano class so I can't make any comment on Susanna. So far my daughter is still interested on playing piano and she practice is every day with fun. Susanna told my husband that she will buy some new music book for her so I guess Laetitia really enjoy her piano class.

15 Struggles Only Left-Handed Guitarists Understand
Left-handed guitarists of the world unite! When it comes to guitar setup and style, you're kind of in your own world... 1. Some people try to change you... ...but you do your own, awesome, left-handed thing! There is a school of thought that lefties should conform to right-handed ways and learn to play a regular righty guitar. This works for some lefties, like Paul Simon and David Byrne. For other left-handed players, a right-handed guitar can be discouraging and difficult, and switchi

Can your favorite contemporary songs help you learn how to play piano by ear? They sure can! Check out how to get started in this guest post by Corona, CA teacher Milton J...   Recently, I started teaching a new piano student who simply wanted to play his favorite pop songs by both ear and sight to not only become a better pianist, but to be the life of the party for his friends. I loved his goal and made sure he knew about the great ways of learning how to play piano by ear using the p
The 10 Best Guitar Soloists of All Time
As with any top 10 list, ranking the best guitar soloists is not an easy feat. Guitar solos are incredibly subjective, and what pleases one fan might make someone else plug their ears. My list is based on years of listening to and loving classic rock, indie music, and pop. If there's anyone I left out or anything you would change, I hope you'll let me know in the comments. 10. A Little Bit of Country: Easy Classic Country Songs for Guitarists
If you're a fan of classic country music, you've come to the right place. Here, guitar teacher Willy M. shares his favorite classic country songs for guitarists... I grew up in the late '70s and early '80s in the rural Midwest when "Hee-Haw," a country television program, was something that everyone knew about. It was the Grand Ole Opry’s rendition of a high-theatrical experience, and a showcase for classic country artists to play their tunes. Willie Nelson, one of my favorite songwrit
