I have enjoyed teaching music and piano for many years I want students to enjoy music as much as I do. I currently stay at home with my two kids, and I love seeing the excitement in their faces whenever they strum on my guitar, plunk around on the piano, or learn a new song to sing. This, along with my own childhood steeped in music, sparked a desire to share music with others and help them learn music. My teaching philosophy has always been more student interest driven, relaxed and less structured. I think that a very strict, highly structured, cookie-cutter environment, especially in music, can be suffocating to a student's interest. Students have less invested in learning music, and likely won't have any fun, if they are simply being told, "This is what we are learning, this is how we will learn it, and this is the pace at which we will learn it." Experience: Completely ...

I am an active freelance hornist in the Madison, WI area. Beginning my studies at the age of nine, I have been playing the horn for 15 years. After finishing high school in Houston, Texas, I relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I began my undergraduate work at Louisiana State University under the instruction of Seth Orgel of the Atlantic Brass Quintet. Upon completion of my Bachelor of Music degree in 2011, l moved to Chicago, IL where I spent the next two years earning a master's degree in music performance. During this time I studied with Dale Clevenger, long time Principal Horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. During my career, I have performed in a wide variety of settings including orchestral performances, musicals, operas, chamber music, and solo performances. *** ...
Having begun teaching lessons while still in high school, I went on to major in music and graduated with a degree in sacred music in 1999. Since earning that degree, I have accompanied for three separate vocal music CDs using original improvised piano accompaniments. I have played sacred music in church for 25 years and have a great deal of experience improvising with hymns. I have taught piano, flute, choir, and general music at a private academy for over ten years. Having recently earned my Masters in Education, I enjoy discovering students' strengths and seeking to shape them into the best musicians and individuals they can be.
