I sat in the room while 5 year old Maia had her lesson with Lisa. Maia seemed relaxed and able to follow Lisa's instructions. I was really impressed with Lisa's approach to the lesson and feel lucky to have connected with her. Maia said she likes her teacher too and was able to show me what she learned in her first lesson! Looking forward to future lessons with Lisa!

Justin B. Oconomowoc, WI

About Justin

I currently stay at home with my two kids, and I love seeing the excitement in their faces whenever they strum on my guitar, plunk around on the piano, or learn a new song to sing. This, along with my own childhood steeped in music, sparked a desire to share music with others and help them learn music. My teaching philosophy has always been more student interest driven, relaxed and less structured. I think that a very strict, highly structured, cookie-cutter environment, especially in music, can be suffocating to a student's interest. Students have less invested in learning music, and likely won't have any fun, if they are simply being told, "This is what we are learning, this is how we will learn it, and this is the pace at which we will learn it." Experience: Completely ...

Lyle has been a great instructor so far. He has taught me how to think about and practice guitar better. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge that he shares in an easy-going way. I feel better prepared and confidant that I can reach my desired skill level, rather than it seeming like a fantasy. Highly recommended.

Lyle is awesome! Lessons are fun and helpful, he focuses on helping you meet your musical goals. I am an adult absolute novice, never played an instrument before, and I feel really good about my progress. If a year ago someone would have asked me "will you ever play an instrument?" I would have said absolutely no and that I didn't think I was even capable of learning an instrument, I considered myself to be very non-musical; but not anymore. 1 star off because we've had a lot of cancellations and reschedules but that's partially my fault as well since our lessons are on Friday nights and he warned me he often plays gigs or has to travel to gigs on that night.

Dafydd is a Top Notch Instructor

Dafydd is an incredibly gifted trumpet instructor. He is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, innovative and artful. I have noticed great improvements in my breath control, technique and overall sound since I began taking lessons from him. He tailors the lessons to capitalize on my strengths and improve my weaknesses by stressing good trumpet playing basics. He has helped me to achieve the competitive edge I was looking for and to gain the confidence I need to succeed as a trumpet player. The lessons are challenging and enjoyable.

Having begun teaching lessons while still in high school, I went on to major in music and graduated with a degree in sacred music in 1999. Since earning that degree, I have accompanied for three separate vocal music CDs using original improvised piano accompaniments. I have played sacred music in church for 25 years and have a great deal of experience improvising with hymns. I have taught piano, flute, choir, and general music at a private academy for over ten years. Having recently earned my Masters in Education, I enjoy discovering students' strengths and seeking to shape them into the best musicians and individuals they can be.
