I've taught music theory to bass players, guitar players, keyboard players, even a drummer! I wrote Austin Guitar School's music theory course, and I enjoy helping people understand what they're doing, and how to do it better. Knowledge is power!

I'm a professional bass player in Austin Texas, the Live Music Capital of the World. At one time or another I've played just about every style of music, and I have more than a decade of teaching experience. Natasha is a wonderful piano teacher to my son. I love how much she wants my son to grow within each lesson. She focuses on scales for his technique and is very organized in terms of setting goals for each piece my son has for the week. Highly recommend her for any level of piano, especially for beginners!

Natasha is a wonderful teacher and honestly the best instructor I have ever had. I have bounced around quite a bit to different teachers and dealt with some wrist pain at various points, she was by far the most patient and caring of any of them. She is knowledgeable and understands how to teach proper, healthy technique. She actually wanted me to improve as a student and will do whatever it takes to help her students achieve their goals. I highly recommend Natasha as a piano teacher!

Music theory is an essential part of music making, whether one is reading sheet music or learning by ear. Through two degrees in music (my BA in music from the Oberlin Conservatory and MM in music from the Peabody Conservatory), I have taken over 40 credits of advanced music theory classes. My teaching caters to all levels, and is specialized to fit each student.

absolutely wonderful.

She encourages, she finds analogies to explain, she is more patient with me then I am with myself. She also explains the terms, gives tips on how to read the notes. She is able to identify the mistakes and give the right advice on how to improve. Her advice on how to practice made all the difference for me. I started with a giant cookie bite sized embouchure and within a few lessons I have managed to make it smaller thanks to her instructions. There is hope for me afterall.
Looking forward to playing a duet with her without me making a mess. Thank you Amanda!
Mike
Amanda is an outstanding teacher. She inspires and challenges me to play pieces I did not think I could play. She is able to take difficult passages and break them down step my step so I can learn how to play them properly. I am sure I would not be playing as I am now, if it weren’t for Amanda’s skilled teaching. She is also friendly, makes the lessons interesting and fun and is very professional. I have taken lessons both in person and on Skype and she excels in both modes.

We had a failed experience with another instructor but Edna makes up for it as she is everything you want in a piano teacher. She is patient, encouraging, polite and makes learning fun for my daughter. My daughter plays songs from her book but Edna also gives her the opportunity to learn popular songs that she’s interested in playing. She is super sweet and highly recommended.

I have only been working with William for about a month now, and he makes learning bagpipes fun and enjoyable. As an instructor, he makes me feel comfortable and seems to have an amazing amount of patience for helping me progress with my ability to understand the instrument from both a musical and technical perspective. He is very responsive to my inquiries and even though the instruction is online, I feel like he is in my living room. I look forward to continued lessons with him as he helps me get better at learning how to play this instrument.

"Isaac is an excellent teacher and is highly recommended. His method is not centered on drills, music reading or repetition, but rather on getting an understanding of how the notes, chords work together. In so doing, the student gets a great understanding of theory and it opens the door to improvisation. In addition he's very patient with folks such as myself who don't come to class with a deep understanding of music theory."

"Awesome teacher!

Jeff is an awesome teacher! I decided to take lessons from him after hearing a friend play and finding out he took lessons from Jeff (my friend is an amazing guitarist). Not really knowing how to play guitar, at first I was a little nervous, but It was such a comfortable environment that I always looked forward to my next lesson. He has become even more a friend than a guitar teacher. He can teach you any type of music and will work with you. Without realizing it, I had progressed more than I could've imagined in a relatively short amount of time.

Even if you've never picked up a guitar, or have been playing for years, Jeff is the teacher you want."

Learning Classical Guitar: Can I Use Tabs or Should I Read Music?

Whether you're brand new to guitar, or just new to classical guitar, you might be wondering, "what's the deal with tabs and sheet music?" Let guitar teacher Raymond L. clear up the fog and put you on the right path to classical guitar success... To get started, let's be sure to clearly distinguish standard musical notation from what we call nowadays "tab" notation. What is Tab? The name tab, or guitar tab, is derived from tablature, a form of musical notation indicating fingering an …
