About Laura
I am a mezzo soprano with a bachelor and masters of music degree in vocal performance from the University of Houston. I am pursuing a career in opera while teaching private voice lessons.
I am happy to work with students at all levels of experience, and start accepting students at age 15. During my lessons I like to focus on developing the student's voice through a classical approach. By forming a strong foundation in healthy singing the student will be able to sing in various genres without strain to his/her voice.

*** Lesson Details ***
If you take lessons from me we will have fun while working hard. I develop my lessons around what I feel the student needs on that particular day.
In a voice lesson we might spend the entire time on technique exercises to strengthen the voice. We might also work on several songs with an emphasis
on interpretation.
I expect my students to practice at least 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week. Everyone learns at a different rate, but if the student practices regularly, he/she will see progress within a few months.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have an upright piano in my studio as well as several music books. I expect my students to bring their music as well as their assignment book to every lesson.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in a classical technique when it comes to teaching voice. I focus on proper breath support and a relaxed open larynx to produce a free, beautiful sound. I believe a classical foundation can be applied to any musical genre, with the result that you are singing in a healthy manner that will not damage your vocal chords, thus allowing for a longer singing career.

About Cameron
I give lessons from my house in north Houston and I sometimes go to students homes depending on location. I teach beginner through advanced violin.
As a violin and viola teacher, my goal is to give my students fun and productive lessons. I teach my students all the essential technical and musical principles which help them to succeed at reaching their goals and avoid developing harmful habits along the way. I do not follow an exact method or course. My approach is to teach each student according to his/her particular needs which will usually require a combination of books or methods.

I have had the privilege of learning violin under some of the top violin teachers in the US. Many of my teachers were graduates of Juliard and other top music schools where they studied with some of the most famous violin teachers of the 20th century in
cluding Ivan Galamian and Josef Gingold. I have also studied with Texas String Teacher of the Year winner Henry Rubin.

I began violin as an adult. Cameron has always made certain lessons are at my level. If a technique needs more work, we focus on that. I always leave a lesson feeling like I am learning, and knowing I will continue to progress.

Cameron is great and really wants his students to learn violin the correct way. I tend to want to take shortcuts and he encourages me to learn the foundation and work from there.

About Anthony
Ever since I was 8 years old, I have loved playing the bagpipes. The instrument was not easy at first - and admittedly I wanted to quit taking lessons early on - but by persevering through the initial learning curve I took off with it and my life has honestly never been the same since. My hope is to help ease your transition into learning this difficult, but very rewarding, instrument.

Through the years I have played in bands, taught private lessons, and competed as a solo competitor and member of pipe bands. Along the way I have had the privilege of being taught by greats such as Jack Lee, Michael Cusack Jr., Murray Henderson, Alasdair Gillies, Roddy McLeod, Bruce Gandy, and Stuart Liddell. My chief instructor while I was in high school was Michael Cusack, who led me to win several noteworthy competitions at the Grade 1 amateur level, i
ncluding the Nicol-Brown invitational contest in 2009. I know what it takes to work hard and to get results.

I am a science teacher full time and hold a Master's Degree in Education. Using this training, I am able bring the pedagogical side from my career into teaching the bagpipes: by meeting every student where they are, and giving them the patience and tools they need to succeed.

I look forward to hearing from you and the opportunity of allowing me to help you reach your personal bagpiping goals!
