Is your little one ready for a new adventure? I have a few openings in my schedule for beginning students, ages 4-10.
All lessons are tailored to the individual student to address individual needs. The curriculum that I use is Bastien, supplemented with additional fun pieces at the student’s level.
We will be spending some of our time at the piano developing motor skills and sight reading. To complement this, I have many activities to strengthen other necessary concepts, such as rhythm and note recognition.
All lesson materials are provided by me and included in the cost of lessons.
I host two recitals each year with no additional fees.

I work with the student to develop a curriculum based on their musical interests and my own teaching pedagogy. I strongly feel that for young musicians to own their education, they must have a say in what they play. Assigning method books and mindless etudes to practice doesn't have nearly the same effect asking them "Ok, what kind of music do YOU like? What do you want to PLAY? What do you want to LEARN?".
I believe that students learn best when they are invested in a subject, and the best way to get them invested is to individually get to know each one, speak to them on their level, and get them playing music they're interested in.
About Jon
I'm a professional performer, educator, and recording artist. I received my Masters in Music from New Mexico State University, and my BA and BME from the College of Wooster in Ohio. Students can expect to improve their technique and performing repertoire within a matter of weeks. We will collabo

In addition to playing the songs you want to play, you'll gain a strong foundation in music theory, note reading, ear training, and much more. For interested students, I also assist in audition and performance preparation. I want my students to have fun while learning music!

He knows his music theory and has a great ear, which helps as he explains not only how a song goes, but the fundamental behind it. He also is very prepared with plans and practice sheets and tries to make lessons laid back and enjoyable.
Highly recommend taking lessons from this guy."

Mr. Gary is very patient with our son, and has ignited a real love of the instrument and given our son confidence. He never gets short and is always calm and encouraging, even when our son is not into it at all.
He teaches the fundamentals of breath, playing musically and how to take care of the instrument.
Mr. Gary is always encouraging and positive, and that helps to encourage a love for the music and instrument. Our son has definitely taken to the trombone and a lot of that is due to Mr. Gary's great teaching."
