About Sean
In 2012, I graduated from Millikin University as a Commercial Music Major. Millikin University taught me many ways of being a professional live and studio musician. I have enjoyed playing in groups of a variety of different genres, such as Jazz, Indie, Pop, Country, Rock, etc. These are the genres I would be teaching my students to make them great musicians not only in a live performance setting but in the studio as well.

I moved to Nashville, TN in 2013 and since then I have been playing for many different touring artists and have recorded on a hand full of records. I am currently playing full time with Christian Singer/ Songwriter Matthew West and have been enjoying that so much!

About Mary
I started playing saxophone in 1994. It was an immediate passion! As the years went on my thirst for music grew and I picked up more instruments. No matter which instrument I play the passion is the same. I like to write and arrange as well so I feel an extreme importance on music theory. I am classically trained although my drive is always towards roots music. I try my hardest to combine those two elements.

I am currently also a freelance musician in Nashville, TN. You may see me playing various instruments in my own group “Mary & Your Choice of Sides” or other groups such as: A Man Called Stu, the Highjivers, The Bullhorn Boys, The Zimmerman Twins, The Willies, Bailey Dee, Paul Burch, Woody Pines, Art Adams, The Dead Man’s Carnival, Jane Rose & the Dead End Boys, Lane Kristian, etc.

Mary was a fun and patient piano lesson teacher. I have never taken any music lessons before so we started with the basics but she did a good job of finding the pace that I learned at. She taught slow enough for me to catch on, but not too slow to where I felt like my 30 min lessons were a waste of time/money.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel the rest of my lessons with Mary because I was becoming too busy with work to stay committed to my lessons and practice. If I ever take lessons again I'll definitely sign up with Mary again, zero complaints.

Mary was amazing teacher for me, and she really sparked my passion for music. I had really just started clarinet when I began taking lessons from her, and I truly believe one of the reasons I am going into music is because of how she made me see it. In the short time that I was able to be her student I learned more than just the fundamentals, and have yet to find a teacher that I work with as well as I did with her. If I could take up lessons with her again, I would in a heartbeat.

About Tim
Unlike other teachers that teach multiple instruments and add harmonica to their list, Tim sole focus and expertise is the harmonica!

Tim began playing harmonica at the age of thirteen. In addition to the guidance and nurturing he received from his musical family, Tim studied with harmonica greats Cary Bell and Jerry Portnoy. He also completed courses in music while earning his bachelor’s degree with honors from Kent State University in Ohio. In addition to harmonica, Tim is a fine singer, songwriter and guitarist. An expert blues player, he is also accomplished in the folk, rock and country genres. Before moving to Nashville in 2015, Tim was regarded as one of the finest harmonica players in New England.

Tim's method for teaching harmonica is enjoyable and logical. I can honestly say that my tone, technique and overall facility on the harp have improved so much in just a few weeks of working with him (after a year or so of trying to figure things out on my own via the internet). He knows just how to convey in words -- in a way that you can understand and implement -- exactly what you need to be doing with your mouth, lungs, etc. to help you improve your sound. As such his instruction can provide a great foundation for playing in any genre (blues, pop, country etc.). Also he's super laid back so that's another plus.

I always look forward to my lessons with Tim. He's a great guy and a tremendous instructor. His sense of humor keeps the hour fun and engaging.
That is not to say that he is not constantly challenging you. But he does it in a way all great teachers do; he communicates efficiently and effectively. Hence, it's pretty easy, if you put in the time, to make incredible strides with your harp playing. Highly recommend signing up!

My 5 star rating is not given lightly. I am now retired after almost 40 years teaching in a school for special needs children. Tim does it all right. A great guy with a laid-back, easy way. Tim is very supportive and will ease any anxiety you may have. He understands the process of learning and knows how to teach! Tim makes things fun, he will challenge you at your level. He’ll give you riffs and drills that quickly link to songs, so in no time you’re playing. Tim has all the skills and tricks and will make them accessible to you. He will help you key in on what’s important to keep you moving in your process.

Keep your harp handy, listen to Tim, give it 10 minutes 3x a day, and you’ll be “killing it” in no time. But, it’s all about the process, and Tim makes it fun! Look no further.
My only regret is that I am unable to give Tim 6 stars!

About Matthew
Hello!
My name is Matthew Foss and I am a student at Belmont University studying everything that has to do with Bass. I am 20 years old and have extensive experience teaching people of all ages both music and sports! I am very relaxed and understand the desire to learn songs and things you enjoy hearing on the radio over scales and arpeggios. Through what you enjoy listening to and playing we can incorporate everything else, such as scales and arpeggios, to help you gain an understanding for the reason music sounds the way it does and how the bass influences that! Look forward to hearing from you all and helping you become the best bass player that you can be!
