About Ruth

I have played piano since I was six years old, when my parents enrolled me in my first music classes. I continued my music education while going to elementary, middle, and high school. Ultimately, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Music from Butler University, located in Indianapolis, Indiana

*** Lesson Details ***
Music has been one of my greatest passions since I was a little girl, and teaching it is my favorite way to share my love of music. I teach students of all ages and skill levels from early beginners to experienced piano players who want to bring their performance to a higher le
vel.

I emphasize piano technique, musicianship, performance skills and music history. But I also use piano lessons to help my students develop life skills, such as concentration, focus, poise and discipline. I love to see my students to build confidence and self-esteem from playing beautiful music.

Noah B.

Princeton, NJ

About Noah

I am extremely passionate about both music and education, and it gives me great joy to be able to share excitement for and knowledge of music with my students. I have been studying violin since I was 4 years old and it has always been a central part of my life. I have a strong background in both music and education. I am conservatory trained having received a BFA in Violin Performance from Carnegie Mellon University with an additional major in Physics. I am comfortable teaching all levels from total beginners to advanced students playing Paganinni and major concertos. I have been teaching
violin for 4 years, and I also have experience teaching Physics in public schools and a Masters in Education from TCNJ. I offer studio recitals twice a year for all my students, which are valuable opportunities for my students to experience performance and share their music with each other. I enjoy music of all styles and in addition to classical music I play rock and jazz. I collaborate frequently with Trenton based rock artist Roy Orbitron.

For beginning students I start with Suzuki books until about book 5 and then begin to branch out into other repertoire. I also incorporate etudes by Dancla, Wohlfahrt, and Sevcik. I teach students to read music as well as basic theory and ear training. I also incorporate playing by ear and improvisation. These are important skills which help students develop into flexible and well rounded musicians.

I am happy to teach any piece in any style that the student wants to learn. Students do much better work and can learn much more when they are excited about the music they are playing. In addition, I can also help students prepare for auditions, competitions, or or to prepare orchestra music.

Noah has been teaching my 11 year old boys for almost two years. I initially chose him due to his proximity to my house. We have since moved, but we continue to travel 1.5 hrs round-trip to Princeton because of his patient and kind demeanor.

He also motivates his students by recognizing and praising their hard work and accomplishments no matter how big or small. I have seen my kids' skills improve drastically under his tutelage.

When Noah teaches, it is very obvious that he loves the violin and that he is eager to impart his love and knowledge of the violin to his students. He's an extremely gifted violinist and teacher.

Just the first lesson so hard to judge but James was very professional and seems like he is heavy on technique as well as theory which will be good for me, looking forward to applying myself and seeing if I can get some good playing skills

James is knowledgeable about the subject and has a technique to teaching that makes it fun and enjoyable to learn and encourages you to practice. His process is methodical as well as informative but he also brings in the student's technique to make sure you're developing properly when it comes to applying what is taught theoretically.

Jimmy is very locked in as an instructor.

I struggled with some of his instructions at first but he will push and guide you in the direction you need to go. With this guidance comes exercises physical as well as verbal. He will paint pictures so you understand your instrument better. Then use exercises so you can understand what those pictures actually are.

He understands all his crafts very well and wants you to be able to do the same.

Gavin L.

Bedminster, NJ

About Gavin

Teaching guitar, and music for over 13 years, 10+ years of that time spent in professional music schools and shops. In addition, I spent 6 years in a special needs school, teaching general music, and guitar to students with learning and behavior issues.
I have had the pleasure of learning from numerous guitar teachers and mentors over the years including, T.T. Quick guitarist, David Dipietro.
Recently having toured the US with national acts in the band McClinton, sharing stages with Saving Abel, Adelita's Way, Framing Hanley, Red, Winger, Steelheart, Bad Seed Rising, LA Guns and many more. I
'm proud to say that I have taken the skills I've honed during those years to stages and studios around the country.
I can help you make sense of concepts that many students find confusing. Focusing on the goals the Students wishes to achieve. Ultimately, I teach a student to be able to progress independently. Learning songs is fine, but in the end it's about learning the concepts that allow the student to learn those songs on his/her own and be able to use those elements create their own music.
I teach all styles, and levels.
Also offering lessons for Bass guitar.

Katie is an outstanding voice instructor. I began taking lessons with her about two years ago and I can already see a big improvement in my vocal strength and overall skill. She is positive, patient, and thorough with her teaching. She is passionate and always gives 100% in her lessons. Music Criticism: How To Handle a Critical Audience
Years ago, I heard my first band would be featured in the local paper and I was so excited to read the article. I hurried home to read it and found that the short blurb was far from complimentary. However, I have learned how to handle criticism and continued to make music that makes me happy. In the time since then, I have been lucky enough to receive both criticism and positive revie

What is a Piano Fake Book?
You walk into your sheet music store and start browsing. You look at the method books, technique books, repertoire… and then your eyes see something else. You pick it up and see it is called a "fake book." An odd name for a real book. You open it up and see that it contains music. So what exactly is it? A piano fake book allows you to read and play music on your piano. But unlike your typical books, which contain the score as written by the composer or arranger, a fake book is more of a r
