Kevin is a fantastic instructor!

I have been taking private lessons from Kevin for two years now as we'll as receiving instruction in Band for the last three years. Kevin not only is an incredible percussionist himself, but he has a knack for being able to convey ideas to students that they can understand. New and better approaches to teaching rhythm, personalized lesson planning to suit a student's needs, and a vast knowledge of music from years of professional experience are just a few things that Kevin brings to the table. If you're looking for a percussion instructor, I would highly recommend Kevin as your first choice!
Joe H. Inver Grove Heights, MN

About Joe

I began music in Winona, MN at age 9 with a pair of drumsticks and went on to become a world champion in 2003 with the Blue Stars drum and bugle corps. I do all things percussion and have been playing for 20 years but these days I do a lot more than just drums. My time spent studying Music Education at the University of North Texas expanded my musical horizons adding piano and guitar among other tools of the trade. The majority of my students these days are piano students young and old but I love teaching a variety of lessons including guitar and ukelele. I currently teach piano, drums, and guitar at a local music store in the Twin Cities. I also teach the Hastings drumline in the summer and fall and the Red Wing indoor drumline in the winter time. On a completely different ...

The Good, the Bad, & the Drummy

Joe is knowledgable in percussion and pretty flexible with instruction. He identifies strength areas and assigns appropriate work. He also showed me how to install drum heads and gave me some tricks on care and maintenance of my equipment. Of the three drum teachers I've had, I like Joe the best. I have been playing drums for 3 years and I am 12 years old.

Fun Teacher!

Joe is a patient teacher and a highly knowledgeable and gifted musician who makes learning the piano safe, fun and easy. B.F., age six, is reading notes and able to play a few songs on his own after only a few months of weekly sessions. In the words of that six-year-old, "Joe is funny and I like his games. He lets me talk about the weekends and Wii and he teaches me the piano." B.F. leaves his lessons smiling and wanting to come back to Joe to hang out and learn even more. We highly recommend Joe if you are looking for a caring and fun teacher who teaches in a positive manner, who gets results from the student, who lets the student pick their own music, and who helps the student have confidence and pride in their progressing musical accomplishments.

Vocal lessons with Tom

Tom is a great teacher. He is very encouraging and gives great advice on how to improve. Without his encouragement I do not think I would have tried out for the community choir. I made it through the audition and am back singing with a great group of people.

About Piper

I have been tutoring high school to college aged students in flute technique and performance for 2 years.
