About Dr. Jonathan
Jonathan began his musical studies at age 7, after falling in love with his first classical music cassette tape given to him the prior year. Jonathan trained as a pianist throughout his childhood, and studied with the venerated Harvey Wedeen at Temple University in Philadelphia through middle and high school. He made his orchestral debut as soloist with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra at age 15, after winning their instrumental competition. Continuing his piano studies into college, where piano was his primary instrument, he completed a bachelors in music at the Eastman School of Music. During these college years, he played regular outreach concerts as part of a chamber group for a myriad of organizations. He has given solo recitals, accompanied other musicians, and played in chamber groups. He now holds a doctorate in music from the Uni
versity of Maryland at College Park.

During high school, Jonathan became fascinated by writing his own music, and now holds three degrees from preeminent schools in the field of music composition. His music has been performed by numerous ensembles and musicians, including the Kronos Quartet, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman Musica Nova, and Knox-Galesburg Symphony. He was recently a featured guest composer at the Bowling Green State University New Music and Art Festival. His piece for stings, Nightscape, has been a particular audience favorite and performed by orchestras across the US. Jonathan also enjoys doing collaborative and multimedia projects with local choreographers, videographers, and musicians.

As a teacher, Jonathan is exceptionally patient, always engaged with his students’ progress, and actively listens to what his students want from their lessons and in helping them decide on the music they want to play. He takes a very practical and holistic approach to teaching keyboard, and always makes sure to discover the fun in learning. Jonathan strongly believes that all students, no matter where one is in life, possess the ability to achieve success in their lessons – and that his job is to guide them to unlock and discover their potential, to inspire their curiosity, and to help them advance their musical skills on their chosen instrument. Jonathan has also taught courses in theory, aural skills, sight-singing, and composition at the University of Maryland and Ball State University. He has studied music pedagogy, and actively pursues researching about new methods and developments on the learning process.

About Laura
I began my classical training in both piano and harp at a young age. As I progressed, I began studying piano, music theory, music history, and collaborative piano at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music for five years. I then earned my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance with a Harp Minor at Houghton College 'Greatbatch School of Music' in New York where I taught both instruments and worked as an accompanist. After graduating, I moved to North Carolina where I taught over 60 students ages 4-65 at Cary School of Music for three years.

Following, I relocated to Los Angeles where I spent three years working as a performing musician and music teacher through the Royal Music Conservatory and MTLA. During my teaching in California, I became certified through the Music Teachers' Association of California where the majority of my students bega
n Certificate of Merit competitions.
While teaching privately, I began working full time as a music teacher at the Help Group School for Autism where I also maintained a position as the charity event choir director...performing with various artists such as the rapper 'Common' and former Temptations singer 'Luis Price.'

While most of my training is in the Classical field, I have a strong passion for contemporary music as well. I believe that both piano and harp have the ability to reach many different audiences. As a teacher, I believe in giving my students a strong Classical foundation while using the technique and theory to delve into other styles of music such as jazz and contemporary pop/alternative. With this instruction, each student will be able to find what music inspires him/her while having the skills and technique to further the chosen style.

Laura was my daughter’s piano teacher for 2 years at Cary School of Music. Overall, she is just an amazing teacher. Laura is very knowledgeable and always very positive; she can handle all challenges that come up teaching kids; hence, she is extremely well with kids. She knows how to challenge the kids at the right pace and still make the lessons fun. My daughter describes her “fun, friendly, and kind.” My daughter has had five piano teachers so far, and Laura has been the best!!

It is a real challenge to find a right violin instructor for a beginner. My son went through few of them and I can see the difference. Nikita gives all the nutrients and sunlight to any tiny seed to grow. His violin teachers' talent can bet only his violinist' talent. He is very flexible and always ready in time. You can't even think of the better one.

I've recently returned to playing violin after a long break, and now taking online lessons with Nikita. He is super helpful, has already showed me a lot of efficient techniques which really speed up my re-gaining process. Nikita is very responsible, always comes up with ideas how to work on my tone, intonation, bowing specific to my needs. He is also a fantastic violinist, which is always the best inspiration for students!

At 60 plus I'm pretty set in my ways. But after 40 some years of not playing a violin I purchased a new one and found Nikita. He has worked with me trying to correct bad habits. Teaching proper handling, finger placement, notes, bow hold and care. Nikita works with children and the ELDERLY and everyone in between. His patience and passion for music is great. I highly recommend this person. He is not only a highly trained and gifted musician with many years of experience but also an excellent teacher. I value his skills and his friendship.

About Donna
After studying violin, (strings, cello), and piano in Boston, at New England Conservatory with Eric Rosenblith as well as Robert Soetens in France, I have been fortunate to enjoy nearly twenty years of teaching violin and piano students. I have earned a BS and MS degrees.

I believe all my students should enjoy music and lessons so students learn enjoyable music from the first few lessons.

For the younger students I use Music Mind Games training to enhance the lesson experience.

My professional violin experience includes performances with many orchestras including a ten-year member of the Chattanooga Symphony, Chattanooga Opera Orchestra, and the New Art Trio, Charleston Symphony, Savannah Symphony and chamber orchestras and ensembles in the Savannah, Chattanooga and Richmond areas. My experience also includes performances with R
ichmond Symphony in Richmond, VA, Virginia Symphony in Norfolk, VA, Dover Delaware Symphony as well as performance venues in the Pennsylvania area.
