About Scott
Hi! I'm Scott. I perform with a one-man band setup I created which utilizes a modified guitar and home-made foot pedals to control a drum set, while I sing on top of it all. I have a recording studio at home, and have performed with bands as a singer, guitarist, saxophonist, bassist, percussionist, and as a sound engineer. I've written, performed and recorded my own album which made it to the 2nd round of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, and was a voting member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Grammy Committee and NARAS (National Association or the Recording Arts and Sciences.) I started piano lessons from age 5 and just kept picking up more instruments and gear as I got older and never stopped learning or enjoying it!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have been teaching Guitars, Basses, Percussion, Piano, Saxophone, Music Production, Re
cording, and Live Sound for 16 years.

I can teach you note-reading, tabs, ear training, music theory, composition, improvisation in just about any style of music.

Working with people writing songs is something I enjoy thoroughly; I can help you write and record your own songs. A computer and internet access are preferred to take full advantage of the technology for learning and producing music.

Knowledgeable in Instrument repair, set-up, and maintenance, I can help you fix it, and how to spot a good instrument.

Patient and experienced, with a broad knowledge of music in most areas, I can give you hundreds of good references from previous students I've taught over the years

*** Studio Equipment ***

Guitars, basses, percussion and drum sets, a piano, saxophones, hand drums, a 20-track digital recording studio with monitors that are equalized to the room's acoustics for accurate listening and mixing, plus an assortment of microphones, amps, mic stands, cables, and connectors.

Very personable and eager to share his love of music. He’s not looking to teach you “his way” but meeting you where you’re at and helping you get to where you want to go, musically.

From the moment I had my phone interview with Paul, I knew he was the right instructor for my son. We met for a trial lesson and sure enough he was exactly what we were looking for. My 12 yr. old has just excelerated in his music reading skills that I could not teach him on my own having started him on the keyboard myself since he was seven but was not successful. Paul is not afraid to stretch him and communicate to him in a way that he pleasantly receives along with weaving music history teaching continuously throughout the lesson. Right out of the gate his technique was addressed and the foundation was set up front and my son has an obvious, beautiful, step above, touch. Very grateful!

Nathan has taught my children ages 5 and 7, and he has been utterly wonderful. Very patient with a nice dry sense of humor that my kids really enjoyed. He had the perfect balance of allowing the kids to learn at their own pace while pushing them to do more each week. It didn't take long for my older child to learn to read music on the staff and then play it, and he even encouraged her to write her own music! Meanwhile our younger child got into a groove where he always wanted to be the first to practice. Along with his reliability and ease, that all is the sign of a great teacher.

A NOTE TO THE STUDENT
I am so glad that you are looking into finding a voice teacher who fits your unique style, personality, and being. I love teaching voice. I love seeing my students go from where they are when they first arrive in my studio to auditioning with confidence, or singing in Broadway shows and bands, recording albums, and participating in open mics with ease and grace. It is my sincere hope to create a singer in every family! Maybe if we have a singer in every family, there will be less violence in our sometimes turbulent world. If it is your dream to be a singer, I encourage you to pursue it with abandon!

Ms. Arlette is professional, warm and encouraging. I have to sing for a band I play an instrument with. Very nervous about the entire idea of singing. I am learning the proper way to sing, and believe I will be able to do so with the combination of technical expertise and encouragement I am receiving. I am very pleased that I found Ms. Arlette. I cannot say enough positive things about her.

About Francois
Hello again!

Singing is about passion. It is about engaging the spirit of a work or a song and finding what that means for you. Maybe you're just starting out in your journey and want to develop a reliable technique. Maybe you sing every so often but you want to get serious. Maybe you'd like your child to get that role, that solo, or simply have them develop into a professional singer. Maybe you want to sing solos in your faith group, friend's wedding, karaoke, or just want to pursue a passion!

If so, you've come to the right place.

I can teach you the basics of singing which lie in breathing and supporting the breath as it escapes your body in the making of sounds in the form of words.

The technical side is important but so is the expressive side. It is important to tell a story when you sing and be convinced of that story yourself.
That is why I encourage people to sing songs that mean something to you.

If you would like to refine your technique, develop the technique, or just add to your ability to sing, then do contact me and let's set up a lesson to see how I can help your voice soar!

Make a great day and hope to hear from you soon!

François

Mrs. Ho is the best teacher I have ever had. I am in my 60s and I have had many years of experience working with several teachers, some were good, but never to the level of Mrs. Ho.
She is a professional and high level concert pianist, who is also a fantastic pedagogue, not to mention she is also patient and super nice.
I believe that anybody at any level could benefit enormously from taking lessons with her.
