All music lessons at WCGA combine solid instruction in music fundamentals with the student’s personal interests and goals. Guitar students will learn chords, scales, terminology, and technique along with note reading, chord progressions, and theory. Teacher duets are common in our lessons to develop listening and timing skills. Our guitar teachers make sure every student understands the fretboard in order to execute challenging melodies and riffs along with chords that are suitable for popular, rock, jazz and other styles of music. Teachers craft each lesson to incorporate the fundamentals of guitar playing with the personal interests of each student.

About Nick

Nick is the proud owner of West Chester Guitar Academy. Boasting 20 years of guitar study and performance experience, Nick has earned a reputation for quality, reliability and variety. He is a graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania 2011, summa cum laude, with a dual bachelor’s degree

My two boys ages 8 and 9 started taking piano lessons with Nick about a year ago and they love it! He is very professional, always on time, and keeps them entertained the whole time! Although they are progressing at different rates, Nick is always patient and encouraging. I highly recommend Nick and his teaching abilities!

My two daughters have been taking guitar lessons with Nick for 2-1/2 years, both on acoustic guitar and electric guitar. He has even taught my younger daughter how to play the ukulele. Nick is an awesome guitarist teacher. My girls have learned so much from him - how to read and write music, bar chords, strumming patterns, music theory and all different genres of music (like jazz, classical and even reggae). Nick can listen to any song my daughters want to learn, then immediately put the notes down on paper and teach it to them. Under his tuition, they’ve performed solo gigs, in their school talent shows, and for and with their friends. My older daughter also plays electric guitar in a teenage rock band. Thanks so much, Nick!!

I love watching my students learn and succeed as we go on this journey together. I'm passionate about playing and teaching guitar, and I love giving back what I've learned over the years to my students. Learning guitar should be fun yet focused, and so my approach is very much reflective of that. It will be challenging, but that's why learning and succeeding at guitar is so fulfilling. So if you're excited to learn and practice, then I'm here to guide you to become a great guitarist!

In the 16 years that I’ve been teaching professionally, I’ve taught over 100 students, driven over 300,000 miles, and worn-out two cars, but it’s been worth every mile. The main focus of the lessons will always be to develop a solid, healthy technique. For those singers interested, we can also work on audition materials and I will coach them on all aspects of performing. To keep things "exciting," I bring a variety of genres of music to work on (classical, pop/rock, country, jazz, musical theater - I'm still working on my rap). I focus on helping singers work through vocal changes and coach them on finding their own unique sound.

About Megan

I have always loved music. I started singing when I joined the 3rd grade chorus, began studying violin in the 4th grade, and took up the alto saxophone in the 5th grade. I went to NYSSMA and SCMEA and LISFA. By the time I was a freshman in high school, I was giving violin and alto saxophone less

Meg is one of the best voice teachers you could ever hope to find. Not only is she knowledgable about a wide variety of genres and styles, but she also offers practical advice and constructive criticism to help you find your voice. She taught me the mechanics of healthy belting and mixing, and helped me develop my soprano range. Meg also has one of the most gorgeous voices you’ve ever heard! I cannot recommend her enough to anyone looking to study voice or singing!

"When Bill was my band director over a decade ago, he was the best music teacher I'd had at that point. After reconnecting with him and having him work with me on my techniques more recently as an adult player, that opinion still stands very strongly. He has a wonderful way of phrasing things that help you just "get it," and has expert advice from everything from fundamentals and helping you achieve your best sound, to more advanced techniques such as double and triple tonguing."

"I started harp lessons when I was 8 years old, and neither my parents nor I ever thought about looking for another teacher. Pam Irwin's teaching style made it easy for me to learn many wedding songs, hymns, and classical pieces. This has led to numerous church performances as well as weddings and parties. I've been so blessed to have her as my teacher from the beginning all the way through the 12th grade. During my college freshman year, I won the talent show at Florida College playing the harp. She is well capable to take a beginner to the advanced level. She is patient, kind, thoughtful, and encouraging. I would not be the musician I am today if it weren't for her excellent teaching."

How to Fix Fret Buzz (Guitar Buzzing) Once and For All

You've got the fingerings memorized and the transitions smooth as ever - but then, without fail, that dreaded fret buzz comes out. Extra noises - we're talking humming, buzzing, scratchy amps, and the like - are often the bane of guitar players, and it's something that beginners all the way up to advanced players deal with. There are several factors that contribute to guitar buzzing sounds. Taking good care of your instrument can help, but natural wear and tear may affect the sound quality …
