My goal as a teacher is to make students successful in their goals. I work with a variety of people; some of them study music for personal enjoyment and others for their musical career. Everyone responds differently to music, that is why I prepare special lessons for each student. It is important that my students enjoy what they are playing and for that reason I have a variety of repertoire that they can choose from.
From a lot of experience with beginner piano students, both young and adults, I have been able to find a regimen of piano teaching that combines time efficiency with fun. As the lessons continue, I slowly add new tools to each weekly lesson that are exiting and interesting. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and ...

Paul is an amazing musician, teacher and individual. Over the course of a few weeks he specifically evaluated my singing and worked with me in order to improve my singing. With every lesson that I had, I was able to notice real improvement in my voice. Paul also exposed me to a wide array of musical styles, in order to better get to know my voice which I thoroughly enjoyed. He is very encouraging and friendly, from the first lesson he already works to help you feel comfortable.

All in all, by having Paul as an instructor you get to learn from an amazing, accomplished musician who truly knows his field and who also has a great personality while being a great teacher, I think that sums it up pretty well.

I can teach you to sing many styles, all with using proper vocal technique.

About Vanessa

As a vocal teacher I focus on the correct method to singing that helps keep your voice beautiful and healthy. I earned my bachelors degree in music education with an emphasis in vocals. I learned music appreciation, theory, history, choral singing and classical voice training. I love music and cannot picture life without it. Music is an expression of life! I also love to teach music to others as I feel I'm passing on a great gift. *** Lesson Details *** As a teacher I fall somewhere in between strict and laid back. For instance, if you don't practice I won't scold you, but I will remind you that you can only be as good as you work to be. If you don't want to put in the effort you will waste your time and money, as well as not receive the results that you were desiring. ...

My daughter (age 12) really enjoyed lessons with Vanessa. She was very encouraging! She progressed quickly in a short amount of time. We really liked the availability of having lessons via Skype. It was just as good as a one on one lesson and more convenient without the drive! Highly recommend Vanessa if interested.

Kristen is SO helpful. I've only taken a few classes so far and my vocal abilities and confidence behind a microphone have improved drastically. I started singing late -- at age 27 -- and without much instruction so it has been a difficult process on a steep learning curve so far (the past two years). Kristen punts me farther up that curve every time we meet :).

She is structured but not rigid, super knowledgeable and very professional. Highly recommend her!

Denise B.

New Orleans, LA

Just like a piano, flute or violin, your voice is an instrument.
The purpose of voice lessons is to help you to develop a beautiful and dynamic singing voice and also to teach you to use your voice in a healthy age-appropriate way that will keep you singing for many years to come!
As your teacher, I want your lesson to be more than just singing through a few songs.
While what specifically happens during a voice lesson can vary greatly from student to student and from week to week, the overall structure of the lessons remains similar.
We will always start with some combination of warm-ups for your breath, body, and voice. Just as you wouldn't go running without first stretching and warming up your muscles, you don't want to start singing full songs without first getting your body and voice warmed up.
Warm-ups will also introduce you to new techniques for properly using your voice in a healthy and beautiful way.
After warm-ups, we will work on songs. Typically, you will sing ...

I currently perform and teach in the New Orleans area and love to share my knowledge and experience with my students. There is so much more to performance then just beautiful vocalizing..... *** Lesson Details *** My teaching is based on my own personal, classical training from Europe and North America. Denise quickly nailed problems with my technique and did an excellent job teaching me how to improve my technique. She was honest about both the good and bad points about my singing which I really appreciated. Getting a compliment from Denise feels awesome because you know she really knows her art (singing). She was the first vocal coach ever to label my style of singing, which I didn't know. Every minute of my lesson was useful and productive. I highly recommend Denise, no matter what level you are at.

My lessons with Denise have been great. I took lessons under the intention of performance in musical theater, and in under five lessons she was able to get it professional-ready. By no means does that mean that I'm done with lessons though.

She teaches classical technique as the foundation and tells you specifically how your body function in order to produce sound, primarily using imagery to help you control functions that most people are not actively aware of. Lessons consist of exercises, explanations, and application to songs. She also answers questions and concerns over Skype, even responding to a practice video I sent to her.

Denise will help you reach your goals. If you are looking into singing seriously (and even if you're not), daily practice and preparation for the next lesson is essential to making progress and Denise wants to see you progress. If you are a newer singer, she works with you to build confidence in your voice as well as the technique. Like any good teacher, she can also tell when you haven't put in the work, but will still be patient and invested in the lesson.

Because my goal is musical theater, she helps me to expand my repertoire and work on songs that I bring in for auditions. She also reminds me to take into consideration other aspects of the performance such as dancing while singing and the long-term nature of performance, which makes certain aspects of technique especially important.

I am in my second month of lessons with her. I took 30 minute lessons, which go by very fast. Good for beginners just trying it out, but serious students should look into longer sessions. Skype is hardly an issue and is actually helpful because what she hears is closer to what you might sound like on a microphone. Denise is the kind of person who would go over the lesson time in order to finish an explanation so you leave with a good understanding of the content. Highly recommended for beginners (and advanced students I'm sure) and I look forward to our future lessons!

I have always wanted to learn how to sing ever since I was little. I felt like I never had a voice, and that I was never going to meet anyone that could change my perspective on that. That’s until I came across Ms. Denise. I have had her for a few weeks now and I must say that she is a really great vocal coach. Ms. Denise not only makes you feel comfortable with yourself, but she also pushes you to yours limits. I personally would recommend her as anyone’s vocal coach, especially if you are a beginner like myself.

I all out just wanted to try this out for fun, no other reason. I didn't expect to have nearly as much fun as I did and I learned A LOT more than I expected too. Michelle is wonderful and really makes you feel at ease. I never sang in front of anyone alone and by week 4 I had gained the courage to sing at a karaoke bar. Incredible experience. The lessons we're a birthday gift so unfortunately I will have to wait until the next opportunity to receive this gift again. Thank you so much Michelle! I enjoyed every minute and I will be back!
