By the time I was in middle school, I was writing music for the piano and violin. Ohio State expanded my horizons, as professors gave me assignments to write for other instruments in different and more modern styles. At the same time, I developed my interest in pop/rock music and devoted time to songwriting. Whether you want to write a string quartet or a rock anthem, I can help you. My goal is to have you discover your own compositional style rather than mimic mine.

The study of music performance includes perfecting your skills as a musician with exercises that improve one's muscular sensitivity and agility. The student will also hone his or her stagecraft and ability to work in a group or band environment.

I am a professional cellist with years of performing and teaching.
I attended the Jacobs School of Music for my undergraduate and masters' degrees and was a graduate teaching assistant. I also received my Stott Pilates Teaching Certification while at IU and incorporate postural alignment into my teaching. I have Suzuki certification and work on a strong technical foundation, which both facilitates performing and frees us up to explore non-traditional techniques and other genres.

Most importantly, I strive to nurture the love and passion for music and cello and I am here to help you achieve your musical goals.

My goal as a teacher is to make students successful in their goals. I work with a variety of people; some of them study music for personal enjoyment and others for their musical career. Everyone responds differently to music, that is why I prepare special lessons for each student. It is important that my students enjoy what they are playing and for that reason I have a variety of repertoire that they can choose from.
From a lot of experience with beginner piano students, both young and adults, I have been able to find a regimen of piano teaching that combines time efficiency with fun. As the lessons continue, I slowly add new tools to each weekly lesson that are exiting and interesting. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. As a music major--with subsequent professional jazz, composition and songwriting experience--I feel confident to teach you music theory from any of a variety of angles, including: music reading basics (notation, rhythm and playing on piano), understanding chords/keys/scales (intermediate level) and writing/arranging/playing/improvising with this knowledge as your foundation (intermediate to advanced). I can help you prepare for exams (including Trinity, high school and college) as well.
