About Joel
Music, and piano playing, has been a lifelong passion for me. I've been playing piano since I was 5 years old, and I've been teaching piano for over a decade, in 3 different countries to children and adults of all ages and abilities. I have taught privately, at music schools and at prestigious conservatories, including Juilliard.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Piano from Canada, a Master's Degree from the Guildhall School in London, UK, and a Doctoral Degree from the Juilliard School. I currently teach university students at SUNY Binghamton in upstate NY.

Since I am classically trained, classical music is my specialty, but I can teach jazz and contemporary repertoire as well. You will be hard pressed to find a more experienced and highly-trained pianist!

Music and learning music should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience, an
d it's my mission to make sure this happens in my studio. I want to pass on the joy music has given me!

I am able to teach in my own studio, or travel to your home provided it is reasonable distance. Looking forward to hearing from you!

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums.

I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is what I'm passionate about and it's what I enjoy. I want to inspire that same passion into the hearts and minds of others.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!

*** Studi
o Equipment ***
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar: Classical, jazz, American or Irish folk, rock and pop; lead or rhythm.

I've taken guitar lessons from a few teachers and Dan is the best fit I've ever had. He is very patient and does a fantastic job of tailoring lessons to individual needs. He clearly loves to play music and is very thoughtful about how he shares this knowledge in his lessons. He never fails to encourage me as a guitar player and reinforces a 'can do' attitude. His positive and calm demeanor also make for a fantastic instructor. Thank you, Dan.

About Zachary
I am an instrumental performance student at New York University, specializing in oboe. I am also a woodwind doubler who freelances with orchestras, opera companies, and musical theatre troupes throughout New York.

Every instrument has its challenges, but I am confident that I can make each one enjoyable and rewarding. The oboe is my specialty -- it is a difficult, demanding instrument that yields very high rewards -- but am proficient in and able to teach clarinet, and saxophone. Students can expect to make improvements each week and, before long, be capable of playing standard repertoire and be able to perform in groups with other musicians.

In addition to being a performance student, I am training for my masters in music education. I have been teaching woodwinds privately for seven years, oboe for four. I have played oboe for six
years and have been playing music for fourteen. I can work with students of all ages and can teach students to read music and play their chosen instrument beautifully and musically,

About Maria
A contemporary cellist and champion of current music, Maria Hadge has been described as a “stunning” and “brilliant” musician, performing with a natural spunk. A resident of Queens, NY, Maria has performed in venues around the city ranging from recital halls and churches to DIY venues. Her performances have also brought her across the northeast, Canada, and Europe, to festivals such as the Bang on a Can Summer Festival at Mass MoCA, Montreal Contemporary Music Lab, Atlantic Music Festival, where she was part of the resident Contemporary Ensemble, and to the Klangspuren International Ensemble Modern Academy Festival in Austria.

Her work with ensembles reflects her stalwart commitment to new music; the 2017-18 season has seen her play as a core member in Ensemble Mise-en. She can also be heard playing around the city with ShoutHouse,
Stark Raving, and Ghost Ensemble, String Orchestra of Brooklyn and The Chelsea Symphony. In 2016, she focused much attention to her project Phoenix Quartet, which performed almost exclusively Olivier Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time and commissioned works inspired by it.

Miss Hadge is also thrilled to be apart of musicals. Recently, she has been heard playing in productions of Nine with Manhattan School of Music's Musical Theatre Department, Sondheim on Sondheim with Fire Island Performing Arts Project, and a new musical, Brontes, about the literary Bronte sisters as part of Theatre in Asylum. In the past, she's been grateful to play in productions of Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, and a new musical Marry Harry.

Miss Hadge is a Presser Scholar and recipient of the President's Award for the Purchase College Conservatory of Music. She earned a BM with a History Minor from Purchase College, where she studied with Julia Lichten, and Miss Hadge recently completed a Masters Degree in Contemporary Performance from Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Fred Sherry.

Away from the instrument, Maria Hadge enjoys boxing, crossword puzzles, board games, and reading big books about American history. Currently, she is in the middle of Ron Chernow's Washington. She also works with kids after school teaching chess, percussion, and science.
