All students, regardless of experience level will have opportunities to play engaging music that aligns with their interests, and that also reinforces the fundamental techniques of playing the clarinet at a high level. Additionally, in music there is no one set path forward towards success. To that end, I work with each student individually at a pace they are comfortable with, to create an approach to playing the clarinet that takes what they have already learned and builds upon it to advance their musical knowledge and technical ability on the instrument.

I just received my Bachelors in Cello Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and will be pursuing my Masters at the New England Conservatory in the fall. I've been playing cello for over 10 years and have been doing student teaching for about 5 years. I focus on building up great technique in my students, but more importantly, I want to help my students feel more connected to the music they play, and ultimately use their technique to express themselves. The best teachers, for me, don't just teach you how to play the notes, but also how to find your own meaning in the music that you play- no matter the difficulty level of the piece you're playing!

I use the Suzuki method for most beginner/intermediate students, but I'm also sensitive to what the student wants. I'm a firm believer that the student should always enjoy what they are practicing! I want to build up healthy, solid technique in my students, but I encourage my students to find pieces they themselves are interested ...

I just had my first lesson with Brett and he customized it according to my individual needs and circumstance. I am passionate about guitar and folk music but have no musical experience. Bretts plan is to start with the very basics and move forward from there. He was very patient with me and his directions were easy to follow. Though I am a senior I feel like I am 20 years old again and learning a new skill. Thanks Brett

Shaun is really patient and explains you pretty well any question you got. He has a lot of experience in playing guitar.
Jim
Wow! Shaun has far exceeded my expectations. He is an amazing teacher. He is prepared every week with lesson plans, he is a walking Encyclopedia for all things music and he is an extremely nice guy. Shaun is the real deal. He has the skills to teach everyone form the beginning guitar player to a seasoned professional looking to advance their skills. He is a patient person that takes the time to make sure you understand what he is teaching and more importantly he can explain why something has to be done a certain way. Shaun takes some the most complicated aspects of the guitar from rhythm to scales and makes it easy to understand and apply in the real world.
Ashley
I have been working with Shaun for about a year, and have truly enjoyed my experience with him. He is an excellent instructor, very focused on technique and learning to play guitar the RIGHT way. I have learned to read music, improv, and am now learning performance pieces. I would definitely recommend him as an instructor.

I have been thought since age 7 music theory and aural skills and attended music school since age 9 in Europe. When we arrived in the United States I took AP Music Theory at my high school and attended a pre-collegiate program at Columbia College where I took more theory courses. For my bachelor's degree, I went to University of Michigan where I took classes in counterpoint, composition, twentieth-century music theory, and orchestration, earning a BM in Music Theory. For my graduate degree, I was both piano and music theory TA and I got to teaching college-level classes in theory. As you can see, I've taken numerous courses and I had the opportunity to teach them on a high level so I can guide you confidently from the very beginning to advanced level where you will be able to apply the knowledge in performance through in-depth analytical analysis. You will also be able to compose and feel comfortable doing it. I have a Yamaha C 2 with a beautiful tone and we have a parking spot so if ...

I even started guitar recently and I have enjoyed it so much. He understand what I am struggling with and helps me fix what I am doing wrong."

"Keats is a skilled and perceptive teacher. I am dealing with many beginner issues and he always has multiple suggestions and ways of explaining how to accomplish the techniques I am working to master.
I am an accomplished flutist but just love the cello so decided to take lessons. He truly seems to enjoy sharing his knowledge.
I feel so fortunate to have found Keats because he really cares about me as an individual although I am truly old enough to be his grandmother. Outside of our lessons, he has sent me links to recordings, a new bow which I have purchased and am thrilled with, and various other cello-related matters of interest to a beginning cellist.
He does not insist that there's only one way to do things and has studied with a variety of teachers himself. He comes from a musical family so is very knowledgeable about classical music. A true musician who understands the love of music.
Lastly, I want to recommend Keats because he has a very gentle, kind manner and praises my work when it is good. He encourages me through frustrations and sets reasonable goals at each lesson.
I am also a music teacher and would recommend him for a student of any age. I know that the relationship that develops between teacher and student is crucial to a student's progress, and Keats is a real and caring person in the lesson, not some drill instructor. I think he would be fabulous with children and certainly relates very well to adults. Give him a try!"

"Very funny, super friendly, & great teacher

Eric is an awesome teacher with a ton of knowledge and lots of patients. He's super flexible when it comes to scheduling, and is always well prepared for the day's lesson. His ability to explain and break down complex material into layman's terms has been crucial to my understanding of music theory. We cover mostly rock, blues, & metal (in my favor), and I can honestly say his lessons has amplified my progression in speed, technicality, & overall confidence in playing. He'll always exceed the alloted time to ensure you leave with full understanding of the day's lesson, but never ask for anything extra for it. Besides being an amazing guitar player and an incredible composer, Eric is a genuine guy who really enjoys seeing his students progress. I highly recommend!"
