About Cory
I grew up around Atlanta, GA and started playing piano when I was around 7 years old and bass and guitar when I was 11. Most of my education has been on the upright bass. I've studied classical bass performance at major music schools on the east coast and in the midwest. I've studied and worked with musicians from many of the great orchestras around the world.

I enjoy working with students who are just coming to the bass, guitar, or piano for the first time and getting them started with music in a rewarding way as well as more advanced students that need finer musical direction or audition coaching.

*** Lesson Details ***
I try to keep a relaxed environment while still being motivating and inspiring. I tailor lessons around what the individual student's goals are. There are materials that I like to use with most students but I
'm open to using anything that meets the needs and desires of the student.

I try to find a nice balance of technique work and music. It's important to develop healthy technique from the very beginning. It's very easy to develop bad habits that can have serious health risks down the road (i.e. tendonitis, carpal tunnel, back pain, etc.) that can make it difficult if not impossible to keep playing. I've spent many years undoing bad habits that I developed from the first years that I played bass without any formal instruction. Yoga, Alexander technique, massage, and many great teachers have helped me overcome the issues I had and have helped me develop healthy habits. I try to pass this education on to my students so that they can have an enjoyable and healthy experience with music for the rest of their lives.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano and music stand. Living room with seating for parents.

The students need to provide their own bass and bow or guitar and music.

*** Specialties ***
Classical. I have studied with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and New York Philharmonic and my teaching and playing reflect the traditions of these teachers and orchestras.

Cory was an awesome & patient piano teacher for my 4 year old son. He did hands on training and gave him work to do on his own which helped tremendously! Thanks Cory!!!!

My experience with Cory has been excellent. He is a good teacher who knows how to keep me going and understands my goals. I have temporarily with- drawn from the program as the erratic nature of my life and travel requirements makes it difficult for me to schedule reliably. Also, some problems with the communication software have, at times, made the learning difficult. Please understand that my decision to stop is in no way a reflection on Cory or his teaching ability. I will be glad to re-connect with him when conditions permit.

-learn to play and pick up tunes by ear or with tabl
ature
-advanced melodic clawhammer arranging

-history of the banjo and of Appalachian old-time fiddle music, and history of each specific tune
-much more!

Classical Guitar lessons can include:
-fundamentals of classical guitar technique and playing
-reading music
-fundamentals of music theory and how it applies to what you're playing
-focus on getting the best sound from your instrument
-history of classical guitar music and pieces

-much more!

Clawhammer banjo and classical/acoustic guitar are my main specialties. I am also experienced in teaching, playing and performing bluegrass and country steel string acoustic guitar (flatpicking, accompanying, comping, jamming, etc.), three-finger bluegrass banjo, old-time clawhammer banjo, beginner bluegrass mandolin and ukulele, and music theory.

**Availability notice: As I am a touring musician, my availability is flexible. For online lessons, I may need to reschedule times while I'm on tour. For in person lessons, we may need to reschedule missed lesson while I'm on tour.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide my own instrument, and I expect my students to have an instrument of their own.

I just had my first lesson with Brett and he customized it according to my individual needs and circumstance. I am passionate about guitar and folk music but have no musical experience. Bretts plan is to start with the very basics and move forward from there. He was very patient with me and his directions were easy to follow. Though I am a senior I feel like I am 20 years old again and learning a new skill. Thanks Brett

The key to learning guitar......is finding the right instructor!

I am an encouraging, effective guitar instructor and an experienced performing musician, offering in-person beginner through intermediate guitar instruction in my home and on line.

It is very rewarding to me to help others along the journey of creative expression through music. To see the light come on and watch a student perform a song, express themselves musically, and create their own composition is an awesome experience.
To kick back after a long day and let your soul speak through a musical instrument is a wonderful release. Please let me guide you along this incredible adventure to bring out that inner artist!

You'll learn guitar playing posture, strumming patterns and an understanding of rhythm, tuning, chords progressions and chord theory, basic principle
s of reading tablature and 5 line staff, and great popular songs. You'll be playing your favorite tunes in no time!

Through formal and self- instructed lessons from age 12, I've learned country, folk, blues, rock, and metal techniques and formed several local bands as lead vocalist and lead/rhythm guitarist.
Writing and recording my own music has been a hobby for over 30 years.

An active music enthusiast from a young age, I began with clarinet technique and music theory from age 9 through public schools, performing in orchestra and marching band.

I started with Scott as a newbie and he has definitely helped me grow as a guitarist. He takes time and makes things easier to learn. As complicated learning can be, he simplifies it and breaks it down. When I feel like I’m not progressing he always shows me how I am. His modules are easy to follow. His teaching style is compatible with all types of learners whether you are visual, hands on or a listener. It’s not just business with him. He’s always available for questions after or between lessons. He’s knowledgeable in equipment so don’t hesitate to ask for some advice on what to buy. He’s affordable and lesson times are flexible. I highly recommend him for all ages and learning needs.

About Xin
I am a professional Horn player. I am currently a student at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester getting my Bachelor's of Music under Professor Peter Kurau.

Horn players can expect to have a unique sound, and I intend to let the student harness that rather than stick to whatever standard of sound is preferred in our community. From my experience, horn players tend to build tension in the jaw, and as a person with TMJ (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction), I know how to recognize these pains and how to release tension and prevent it!

I have been studying classical horn playing for 7 years and have had experiences in various orchestras such as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the Ocala Symphony Orchestra. I am also a part of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival of the University of Maryland, College Park in 2018, a n
ationally-acclaimed summer festival. In addition, I studied the Natural Horn for 2 years, the predecessor to the modern French Horn. Despite having a classical background, I frequently have to play jazz when playing modern compositions and learned how to read lead sheets, so therefore I can bring a multi-faceted way of teaching every day.

I have experience teaching young kids in Baltimore through the OrchKids Summer Program. I was a Brass Intern and taught the horn players and at times the trumpet players. From this experience, I developed patience and an even stronger love for teaching to play the instrument to which I am dedicating my life. I hope that you will consider me in your pursuit of finding a horn teacher for yourself or for your child.

About Sunwoo
Sunwoo Lee, 21, is currently pursuing a Master's Degree of Music in Viola Performance at the Eastman School of Music, from where she earned her Bachelor's this past spring. Having immigrated to the States at age two from South Korea, she has lived in various areas in the New England area with her parents and little sister and has always been fluent in Korean and English. She grew up participating in various activities, such as swimming, ballet, tae kwon do, and of course music. She began her musical studies at age seven with piano, taking on violin two years later and switching to viola at thirteen. She has studied music with nine different teachers extensively and various others at music festivals and in chamber music coachings. She hopes to take the experiences thus far, both positive and negative, to become the best possible teacher fo
r her future students.
She helped establish a chamber music program at her high school, which eventually grew into an orchestral ensemble. She has taught students at both the beginner and intermediate levels, and coached the viola section of an intermediate level youth orchestra at the New England Conservatory's preparatory division. She also had the opportunity to participate in outreach programs organized by Eastman's chamber music department, and has thus performed and presented on classical music to various audiences.
Though her focus is in Western classical music, her family also holds a passion for Korean traditional music. This extended into her musical studies as she has taken lessons on the gayageum, a Korean zither, and enjoys all forms of Eastern Asian traditional music.
Note: I would prefer to teach in my apartment but if need be I do have a car so I am willing to drive!

I am an opera singer and voice teacher. I received my bachelors in vocal performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where I taught secondary lessons through the conservatory. I have performed all over the United States and in England. I am currently studying at The Eastman School of Music as a master's student.
After graduation from Oberlin, I began my private studio in Texas. My weekly lessons numbered around 60. Over the last 4 years, I have taught students with a variety of interests and goals. It is important to me to find the one thing that excites my students, be that a certain song or style, or maybe how to be more comfortable singing in their church choir. In lessons, not only do we work on vocal technique, we focus on what makes their voice unique, special, and all their own. Students will always have a new building block t
o practice each week. My intention is to inspire my students to have a discerning ear and to appreciate all that goes into making a voice work.
My students have been accepted to major college voice programs, as well as participated in competitions and summer programs around the United States.
