About Daniel
I love teaching and using humor to make learning fun. I like a lot of different styles of music, with a special love for blues, jazz, rock, and video game music. I've been playing the guitar for almost 20 years, the piano for nearly 15 years, and I've been singing since high school. I taught myself to play guitar because I wanted to perform songs while singing, and because I started to feel silly playing air guitar in front of the mirror in my room while singing along to my favorite songs.

Now, I'm a full-time licensed music teacher, a manager and singer for a choir that records video game soundtracks, and an online teacher. I really enjoy using people's interests to teach them instead of relying on the same old repertoire for every student. If it's not fun, you won't want to keep learning after all! I look forward to learning abou
t you, your musical goals, and the kind of music that inspires you to play/sing!

For prospective Wordpress students: I have been creating websites since middle school and currently own and operate a profitable website (vgmacademy.com). I love building sites and teaching others how to build sites themselves. Whether your focus is personal in nature or you’re looking to create a website for your business, I can help.

About Aaron
Hello fellow and future musicians, and thanks for checking out my profile!

To tell you a little about myself, I was exposed to music at a very young age since my dad was a musician. I first picked up the drums at the age of 5, and took piano lessons for a year when I was 6. I later played the saxophone in 4th grade, and finally discovered the guitar when I was 9. (Ironic since my dad is a guitarist and the guitar was around the house forever!) He showed me my first chords and really got me started on the instrument, and I played in several local bands in high school playing a range of musical styles from rock, blues, funk, and reggae. I really didn't take music seriously until I was in college, and began studying under Jerry Coelho, a member of the very first graduating class of the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA, and
Dominic Castillo, a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, who was a student of Jerry's as well. After studying under these talented musicians, I went on to pursue my education in music and received my BA in Music from San Jose State University in 2004. I started teaching music privately during my time with Jerry and Dominic and continued to teach during college up until the present, and have taught hundreds of students since. I now live in San Diego where I teach, work as a freelance musician, and play in local funk/jazz/rock group Science Fiction Jazz and gypsy/kickstomp outfit Quel Bordel!

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very easy going, friendly individual who believes that learning music is built upon a strong relationship between teacher and student. This relationship involves good communication, honesty, open mindedness, and most importantly the desire to LEARN and have FUN. I approach teaching music by knowing and understanding the student's musical goals, and teaching fundamentals, theory, and technique through the style(s) of music that the student wants to learn. For beginners, I tend to teach basic techniques and chords through simple songs to get the student playing music as quickly as possible.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living Room: couches, table and TV, music stand, student can borrow instrument for first lesson, parents can sit in on lesson

*** Specialties ***
My main musical styles that I perform and teach are rock, blues, jazz, funk, R&B, and reggae. I studied jazz in college so I also have extensive knowledge of jazz theory.

It was an excellent lesson! I really learned a lot from it. I was able to learn one song and start on a second on my first lesson only! Definitely recommend Sam to anyone thinking about picking up the guitar!

About Julian
Hi! I'm Julian. While I specialize in guitar, I also know my way around keys, bass, and a drumkit. I've been teaching guitar for about 11 years, and have spent a few years teaching out of music shops. My style is adaptive and fluid to suit a wide range of desires and skill levels, but in addition to guitar technique you can expect to learn a good deal about music theory. I love teaching music more than anything and would rather do nothing else. I come from a blues/rock background and studied jazz guitar and music production at Shenandoah University. If you think we'd be suitable for one another, don't hesitate to contact me!

Julian taught our 11 year old grandson to play drums during his summer vacation with us. Though time was limited, our grandson learned a lot, had a lot of fun, and left with a desire to pursue more music lessons. Julian was patient and kind, and clearly knew a lot about how to teach music.

I've been working with Trevor for just over a year. His teaching goes beyond just dry technique and theory to answer the question "why am I doing this?" When you work with Trevor, there is purpose behind everything you do. He starts with your big picture goals and breaks them down into actionable steps that you can take feeling like it's going somewhere. This makes for way more efficient and exciting practice sessions. If you don't know exactly where you want to go with your playing, Trevor will help you find that as well.

Trevor is an amazing teacher! He works with you to make a plan to learn whatever interests you. I can bring in any kind of music or style of playing and he will help me learn all of the elements. He is happy to go as far into theory as you want or stay more high level. Also has been very helpful in transitioning from learning tunes to writing and recording my own songs. Highly recommend.

About Cindy
When I came home from my second piano lesson, at age 7, my mother tells me that I said, "Mama, when I grow up I want to be a music teacher." And it's true that, in spite of liking a lot of subjects in school, music and playing the piano were always at the forefront of my thoughts. I began playing for church at age 12, having added playing from hymnals to my first love -- classical music. In college I accompanied constantly -- singers and instrumentalists -- and then was tapped to accompany one of the university's choral groups. In the years since graduation, teaching piano has been my prime source of income, but I have accompanied the local high school choral program since the 2000 -- 2001 school year. Along the way I've also tutored high school and college students in Music Theory, as well as an occasional church musician who just w
anted to add some theory knowledge to enhance playing skills. I love the challenge of coming up with ways to explain new concepts to students of all ages.
