Tu Quyen is a wonderful teacher. She teaches you technique, musicality and theory. In a short period of time, I have been able to progress more than I have previously with other teachers. She is very understanding and sets achievable goals for you. I have been wanting to learn a Chopin piece for a very long time, and I am happy to say, I am slowly tackling the piece with her guidance. My schedule requests were able to be accommodated as well. I would recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional teacher.

Tu Quyen was an absolutely amazing teacher. I've recently got back into piano after a 14-year hiatus and had to start from scratch. She understood and was able to accommodate & adjust my lessons accordingly. She is also one of the only teacher I've had that teaches me how important it is to connect with the piano and the songs as the pianist. Highly recommended!

*** Lesson Details ***
I customize the lessons to the goals of each student. Whether it's for fun and leisure or a driven passion with serious goals, I can give you the tools to accomplish what you want! I love teaching people through the music that they love. So, whether that's Britney Spears, Metallic
a, or Bach, the concepts underlying music are basically the same. I will make sure you can play the music you love and hopefully help you explore new music as well.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my studio I have a Guild Classical, Alvarez Acoustic, and Epiphone Electric.

All the accessories needed as well. Music Stands, Foot Stools, Picks, Straps, Slides, Tuners, Books, etc.

I also use an iMac in lessons. I like incorporating technology when appropriate, to look up tunes, or do a recording session, it's a necessary tool to learn nowadays.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring everything we need to conduct a proper lesson remotely. I do recommend you have your own guitar though.

*** Specialties ***
For all the advanced knowledge I have and years of teaching students of all kinds, my favorite is teaching beginners. I love seeing someone come in with no knowledge of music, and taking them from milestone to milestone. I love watching new musicians blossom.

I play, teach, and perform most frequently in classical, rock, blues, and pop genres.

About Brian
My musical interest began as early as I could remember. One of the most comforting and interesting things to do as a child was play with musical instruments like the toy keyboards, xylophones or drums, and of course singing! I found a voice, a magical place, where I could be myself and express deeper feelings than were made possible by talking.

After hearing a string quartet, the violin called to me in every millisecond of sound, I heard it as if it were me playing. I began lessons at age five, and here I am today! Still finding the mystical powers in every practice and teaching session. Between then and now, I managed to accomplish some musical dreams of mine.

At age fourteen, I performed a solo with the Long Bay Youth Symphony Orchestra. I went to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts for the second half of my high
school, and for most of my undergraduate studies. There, I grew unmeasurably and will forever be grateful to Kevin Lawrence, my violin professor at UNC School of the Arts. The value and sacred quality of studying music on that level continues to deepen in significance for me as time goes on.

As a performer I am grateful to have worked closely with some wonderful conductors and been invited to serve as concertmaster in ensembles such as, Symphony Orchestra of the Americas, Garden State Philharmonic, Taghkanic Chorale, Litha Symphony and Utopia Opera. Others I have played with include, Wordless Music Orchestra, Clarion Society, Orchestra Modern, Empire Chamber Orchestra, Winston Salem Symphony, Fayetteville Philharmonic, and Long Bay Symphony.

About Bobby
I am a jazz trumpeter, improviser, and composer as well as an avid listener and enthusiastic educator. I maintain an active performance schedule playing improvised music as well as funk, soul, afro-beat, reggae, hip-hop, and American folk music. In addition to trumpet, I have experience performing and recording on slide trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, and french horn. I write and arrange music for my own groups and regularly write and record horn arrangements for folk, pop, and reggae groups. I have attended Berklee College of Music and Ithaca College, and I have a Master's degree in jazz trumpet performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

I have over nine years of experience working with students ages 7 to adult. I have worked both from my home studio and though several public and community music school program
s including the Hudson Arts Alliance in Hudson, MA, the Kittredge Elementary School in North Andover, MA, and the Performing Arts Center of Metro West in Framingham, MA. I have studied jazz performance with trumpet greats John McNeil and Walter White, improvisation with jazz gurus David Schumacher and Jerry Bergonzi, and George Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization with master composer and theorist Ben Schwendener.

As an educator, my aim is to inspire in my students an enthusiasm for the artistic performance of music of any style. I strive to convey my own excitement for the art to young trumpeters and improvisers, and I have worked to encourage self-motivation and a longstanding interest in musical self-expression in elementary through high school students and adults. I have experience performing many styles of music from jazz and experimental improvised music to funk, reggae, and afro-beat, and I use my knowledge of divergent genres to encourage creative experimentation and convey the expressive artistic elements shared by all music. As an improviser I am particularly interested in teaching the theory and philosophy of spontaneous composition and musical communication.

My 11 yo son has been taking trumpet lessons with Bobby for about half a year now. We are so glad to have found Bobby, as he is an extremely professional, knowledgeable and dedicated instructor. He is always timely and thorough with his lessons. Bobby finds music pieces which are just challenging enough for my son, and my son seems to enjoy his time with Bobby. I also like his balance between teaching music theory and instrument instruction. Bobby explains concepts clearly, and relates well to my son, with a sense of humor and patience. My son has clearly improved in just a few months, and we cannot be happier!

The reason I came to Mr. Brian: I wasn't making any progress under my previous teacher at a local music school. I'd say I absolutely have made the right decision to study with him! At first, my parents thought Mr. Brian's piano lessons are a bit expensive, but they let me try out the first few lessons. Worth the price! I have stayed with him for almost 4 years. He is so passionate with piano and he always tries to push me to my fullest potential, even when certain pieces seem impossible for me to tackle. We are working on a 45 min college audition program; I have never imagined I could make it this far (I hated piano when I was a kid).

Mr. Brian has prepped me well for performances. I have learned a lot from him. He is very passionate about music and he really taught me how to express myself through piano playing. I am a very shy person and have stage fright. My parents think I have advanced a lot under Brian's tutelage. I highly recommend him. A great friend, mentor and an amazing pianist!

He had been my piano teacher and mentor for 5+years. Equipped with marvelous knowledge and meticulousness on music and piano performance, he is capable and willing to uphold his professionalism. He is not going to move on until you have mastered certain fundamental musical ideations or techniques. Mr. Brian is not the type of teacher who only talks in theory or with instructions, but he can actually perform what he demands from students. Hence, he is doubtlessly a marvelous piano performer, as well as instructor, where I am certain students can learn a lot from his lessons.

I'm a motivated and good listener teacher who loves to see his students accomplish their objectives. I have a Masters degree in Jazz from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor in Classical Double Bass from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Austria. I'm a active musician, both as a leader of my projects as well as sideman. I have played all around Europe, Egypt as well as much around in the new York area. I have also released two albums under my name, composing all the music in both of them.

I have been teaching for 4 years. Right after finishing my Bachelor degree, I started teaching in two music schools in Portugal: Academia de Amadores de Música (one of the most important music schools in Lisbon) and ESTAL. I have also made part of the staff of the Conservatório de Música of Azores, where I traveled monthly to

Since I moved to New York, I taught through the Manhattan School of Music Outreach Department, teaching young students about Jazz and Improvisation. I have also taught privately in my home studio, both bass and double bass as well as piano and theory.

About Chris
Originally from Bloomington, IN, I've worked as a music instructor and professional musician for over 8 years. I love being involved in all aspects of the music industry, whether it's writing, teaching, arranging, performing, recording, producing, or promoting.

I have taught over 50 students in the 6 years I've been teaching, and have had several of those students go on to become music majors in college. My focus as an educator is to establish fundamentals and vitally important techniques as effectively and quickly as possible with my students. Then, it becomes more enjoyable and sustainable to begin making great music (all the while incorporating those important aspects of being a musician!).

My primary instruments are drums, saxophone, and euphonium. However, I am proficient and frequently perform on trombone, clarinet, bass, g
uitar, and many other instruments. I enjoy playing jazz and classical music the most, but have performed professionally with groups of just about every popular genre! My musical interests have no bounds, and I believe that all music has something great to offer.

So, let's get started: beginner, intermediate, or advanced, we can begin rapidly building your musical foundation/career right away!
