Enter Eric: Within the past 9 months I have learned more than I did when I played prior for ~8 to 10 years. Eric was quick at learning where I was at and each lesson involved pushing a little bit forward past my comfort zone. This said, each lesson I have gotten a lot to work on. It seemed overwhelming at first, however things have all started to gel in my brain and my fingers to the point where I was able to see and understand why I was given a specific exercise when I was and see how it all fits together. Learning theory and executing it is no easy task so it has taken a lot of work on my end and Eric has always been patient with my progress and moreover I have been extremely happy with my rate of progress.
Lessons are always a good time, they always feel like I am hanging out with a friend rather than a teacher. Eric is great to talk to about music, and his passion for music is evident, all types of music. It is crystal clear that he not only has a profound love for music, but he understands it and hears it in a way that most people don't. Sometimes I wish I could hear music the way he does and be able to wax poetic about the nuances, but taking lessons with Eric has surely made me appreciate music more and listen to everything a little differently. At 30 years old I think I am re-falling in love with music all over again."

I am a laid-back teacher, fun, and I focus on the needs, abilities, and ambitions of the student. In turn, students must realize that learning an instrument takes a lot of work and dedication. One can't expect to learn very much if s/he only practices or thinks about the instrument during the lesson. If the student is willing to put some time into practicing, then I will help them go far!
I have several guitars, a drum kit, djembe, mandolin, clarinet and full-size keyboard.

Justin Pollinger is a vocal coach, singer, performer, and educator based out of Jersey City, NJ.
During his high school years, Justin discovered his passion for music and education. Kenneth Brown, his former choral teacher, and mentor recognized Justin's untapped potential. He taught him the fundamentals of choral conducting, vocal technique, music theory, ear training and repertoire selection. Justin was a member of the award-winning Edison High School Choi
Justin has spent 14 years studying under some of the best vocal coaches in New York and New Jersey, including Sarah Bachman Krieger (Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School), Steven Schnurman (The Juilliard School) and; Katherine Wessinger (University of Michigan). He currently studies under Melissa Perry (Westminster Choir College, Temple, and post-graduate work included 750 hours with Maestro Vittorio Rosetta of La Scala) While doing studies at Westminster Choir College, he studied with Tenor Eric Rieger (Eastman School of Music).
Justin founded and directed The A Cappella Choir of Middlesex County. After a successful first year and a full-length album, The A Cappella Choir sang at Carnegie Hall for the premiere of Eric Whitacre's electronic opera "Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings"
Justin was the head of the choral department at the New Dover United Methodist Church in Edison, NJ. He directed and musically directed production's of The Rocky Horror Show at the Villagers Theater in Somerset, which subsequently moved to The Den Nightclub and ran for 2 consecutive years.
Justin has organized, directed and performed in fundraisers for the Edison high school Choral program, the program that first honed his raw talent and a place that to this day he still can call a home.
As a performer, Justin was seen as a backup singer in the Bryan Hansen band. He has participated in theater all over NJ and is frequently hired for studio session work. He recently contributed backing vocals for Mike Wells' upcoming third studio album.
Justin has been teaching privately since 2007 (Justin Pollinger Vocal Studio). His Students have been accepted to some of the top music programs in the country including Westminster Choir College, Boston Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, Mason Gross School School of the Arts, The Hart School and AMDA.

As a winner of the Artists International Competition (2005), she performed her sold-out New York Debut recital of the Baroque Reflections program at Carnegie’s Weill Hall and was highly acclaimed for her “grand performance in a grand tradition” (NYCR).
She has been a regular guest lecture-recitalist at The Harvard Club, where she has showcased a wide array of thematic programs, such as The Bach Project, The Art of Chaconne, Humor in Music, and Music and Dance. She has given an extensive series of thematic solo and chamber music performances in tribute to birthday anniversaries of Mendelssohn, Schumann, Liszt, Alkan, C.P.E. Bach, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Busoni, Czerny, and Dvorak with recent guest performances at The Metropolitan Museum’s Balcony Bar with flutist Suzanne Buerkle and New York’s Bohemian National Hall with violinist Emilie-Anne Gendron.
She is an Adjunct Professor at Fordham University, where she instructs music history and piano, and serves as a chamber music coach. She is also on the piano faculty at the Crestwood Music Education Center in Eastchester, New York, and maintains an active private piano studio on the Upper West Side.
She is also a passionate leader and entrepreneur as the founder and the artistic director of a classical salon series – an intimate and enlightening series of Classical home salons on the Upper West Side, having presented renowned pianists such as Jerome Lowenthal, Oxana Yablonskaya, and Madeline Bruser, clarinetist Julian Milkis, Juilliard’s Professor of Music, Michael Musgrave, and NYU’s Professor of Music, Michael Beckerman.
Previously, at Juilliard, she has been a faculty member in the Piano Minor Department and taught the undergraduate course on Piano Topics. She has also coached piano-duo and chamber-music groups in Columbia University’s Music Department and was the organizer of the Barnard-Columbia-Juilliard concert series at Columbia’s Miller Theater.
Born in Moscow, Yelena began her professional piano studies at The Gnessin School of Music for Gifted Children at the age of five. As a student in the joint degree program, she graduated from Barnard College at Columbia University summa cum laude, and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, with a major in English Literature and a minor in Philosophy. She holds both her M.Mus and DMA degrees in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School, where she studied jointly with Jerome Lowenthal and Oxana Yablonskaya, as well as privately with Richard Goode.

I have been teaching private music lessons for twelve years, both freelance and as part of various organizations. My approach to teaching is highly dynamic—I don't use the same method with every student and I have no stylistic prejudices or an agenda to push. I approach each student as an individual
Most students want to learn to play songs they know and love. To that end, I get students playing the music they want to play right from the beginning, often through personally crafted arrangements of songs/pieces of the student's choosing, specifically tailored to their current skill level. This way, technical and theoretical skills are learned through direct experience with actual music, and only very rarely through rote exercise.
For more advanced players, I offer an array of strategies designed to take your playing to the next level. I find that the most common shortcomings of advanced players are conceptual. The technical skills are there but the level of conceptual and theoretical understanding has hit a wall. Many players find themselves playing the same chord shapes, melodic patterns, and harmonic progressions over and over again. I've had much success over the years in getting advanced students out of this rut and helping open up new pathways for exploration in both improvisation and composition.
