Looking for someone to help you reach that next level? Whatever your stringed instrument, I can guide you there. From the rank basics to traditional tunes, to timing and tone, technique and theory, I can show you what you need to make your journey easier. Rely on my 15 years of music teaching experience to save you countless hours of bewilderment and frustration!

My journey as a musician which began at the age of 8 has now carried me to 48 states and a dozen countries, including 4 tours in continental Europe. I spent 7+ years performing, recording, and giving workshops with talented acoustic acts based in Nashville and the southeast. I am lucky to have been involved and contributed to a handful of IBMA and Grammy-nominated albums.

Increasingly, however, I turn my focus toward private teaching.
I find great joy and pride in helping a student reach their goals and surprise themselves with their own potential.
Go ahead and get in touch, and let's try a session together!

In my Voice lessons I use a combination of excersises and pieces. Student will be expected to practice from the Vaccai vocal studies book as well as learn classical songs in English, Italian, and German. If there is any musical theater pieces that a student is interested in or must learn for a theater class, we can of course learn those as well.
In addition to this I also teach Solfege sight-singing (Do, Re, Mi etc) which is an amazing tool for ear training as well as voice training.

About Kathleen

Kathleen Little, after playing the flute and piano on her own for seven years, began her classical education at the age of sixteen with international soloist Jun Kubo. Only a year and a half after Ms. Little began her studies with Jun Kubo, she was accepted into The College of New Jersey for a Bach

I am young teacher who is enthusiastic about music. I teach VAPA Music in Chula Vista Elementary School District to grades TK-6th. I teach group lessons for piano, ukulele, rhythm, singing, and movement. I play guitar, ukulele, and piano. Piano is my first and favorite instrument to play. I have been playing piano since I was 7 years old and have been a life-long learner. I want to extend my work to teaching private lessons and I feel that I can be a great asset in a student's learning path.

About Chloe

Unfortunately we had only 1 lesson and then were informed the night before our second lesson that the teacher is canceling because it's too far for her to travel. We had already purchased materials she recommended and paid fees to takelessons.com which we have been told are not refundable. This is terrible service. The teacher signed up for lessons knowing what our address was so she could have simply checked her travel time before agreeing. Now we have wasted a lot of our own time and money. I am hesitant to use takelessons again because of the customer service I have received. Why should I pay a placement fee if an instructor can cancel after just one lesson.

"My 9 year old daughter is currently taking lessons from Chris. We have been more than pleased with so many things about him.
With my daughter, he is patient, approachable and makes her comfortable and eager to learn. She is more and more excited about the things she is accomplishing and I feel that she is getting a firm grasp on the important fundamentals of guitar.
Honestly, we feel that we have found a jewel of a teacher and my family highly recommends him."

"It is my great pleasure to recommend Mr. Ley M. to you as a music teacher to your child. I am writing as a parent of a son who has benefited from Mr. Ley M.’s phenomenal instructional ability for the Elementary School Music Program in Newark, California, as well as in private music lessons.
Mr. Ley M. is passionate about music. His love for the art is evident in his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. As the music teacher for the Elementary School Music Program with the Newark Unified School District, Mr. Ley M. is exceedingly patient with all students, encourages them, and coaxes the very best effort from each and every child.
We were very fortunate that Mr. Ley M. was able to provide private tutoring for my son beyond the after school music program. My son has made tremendous progress in learning to play the clarinet. Mr. Ley M. has given my child a strong musical foundation-learning the correct embouchure and fingering techniques to play the clarinet, increasing proficiency in reading notes, timing, and hearing pitch.
Although Mr. Ley M. is one of the best music teacher in the area, his prices are extremely reasonable. In my opinion, he is worth every penny he charges and I certainly believe I have received excellent services for my money. I am tremendously grateful to Mr. Ley M. for everything he has taught my son and the joy of my son’s music playing has brought to our family."
