About Dale

As a performer I have been playing for over fifteen years on the piano. I have received training at Vanguard University where my teacher's were graduates from Juilliard and Yale. I currently accompany the choirs at Desert Ridge Junior High. I have received a Masters in Music from Baylor University and a Doctorate from ASU and currently teach Music at Grand Canyon University. I am a published choral composer, and have had music performed in Europe and Canada.

In August of 2012 I began teaching piano on a part-time basis. My teaching philosophy has always been to make sure the students understand why and not just how to perform something. I emphasize music theory along with piano lessons and expect the students to take the time to practice every week. I have taught children of all ages from 4 to 16 years old.

If you would like a

I have been a student of Tim’s for a little over a year now. I started playing guitar at age 52 and when I started with Tim I was very close to giving up or settling on just being able to strum a few chords. I have had many hand injuries in the past that have resulted in arthritis and lack of dexterity in my wrists and some of my fingers and I started doubting I would ever be able to progress in my ability to play. From the very first lesson where I told Tim about my hand issues and my frustrations, he told me he was sure we could work around any physical limitations I had, and he was right. Tim has been able to work with me on alternative ways to play the chords I was having trouble with and has shown me that these alternate techniques along with the bit of music theory he sprinkles into lessons can really expand my ability to play.

In the time I have been studying with Tim, I have done more than I thought I ever could. I went from a frustrated beginner guitar player to having enough confidence to play on stage with some of Tim’s other students and I am now looking forward to what I will be able to do on the guitar instead of being frustrated with what I can’t do.

Tim is a talented and passionate musician as well as a knowledgeable and very relatable instructor which is a rare combination and he's also a really great guy and any student of any age or ability will benefit from studying with him.

Tim is an excellent guitar teacher and an overall great guy. He provided me with structure and support, enabling me to make the most out of my practice and ultimately progress as a player. His warm personality and contagious enthusiasm for music kept me looking forward to our time together each week. He was also very flexible when it came to scheduling to accommodate for my dynamic schedule.

About David

I love teaching! More than just someone to help students sing correctly, I really support and empower the people I work with. I want you to follow your dreams and if I can help by getting you singing better than ever before, that's great. I'm lucky in that I do what I love. I started as a choral conductor back in 1983 while in community college, then when to U.O.P. Conservatory of Music and got my bachelors in music education. Then I went to Northern Arizona University and got my masters in choral conducting. I have taught kindergarten through college, in public/private schools and colleges. I love working with all ages, seniors too.

Some of my students have gone on to successful careers on Broadway, as pop musicians, as award-winning teachers, or have been admitted to top music universities.

The jazz bug bit me hard in 1987, when I

was accepted to the Banff Summer Jazz Institute, where I studied with Dave Holland, Kenny Wheeler, and Julian Priester. Since then I have played with some of the world's best jazz artists, including Ari Roland, John Marshall, and Joe Farnsworth. I will tour Russia with my trio in September of 2019!

If you want to get your jazz chops to a higher level, we can definitely do that, including improvisation and theory in jazz.

I grew up listening to Stevie Wonder so R&B is in my soul. I'm also a pretty decent pop musician/pianist. I had many years of teaching 'Classical' voice also...and am comfortable teaching Italian art songs.

I look forward to working with you--David

I'm a professional classical singer and I came to David to learn how to sing jazz. He changed my life: I use his vocal tips not only in jazz but also in my classical singing. I became more confident in my work and in my life in general. David is an experienced musican, singer, and teacher. He is a wonderful and responsive person.

David is an incredibly professional, kind and caring voice teacher. Just the first lesson with him helped me make a huge improvement in singing - he made me feel relaxed and finally break my inner blocks so I started to sing with much bigger confidence than before. David has a lot of valuable knowledge and techniques to share with his students. And what is also important he is an extremely friendly person, always willing to answer your questions and help you achieve your singing goals.

About DAMIAN J

Greetings!

First and foremost I want to congratulate you for choosing to follow a path in the Arts! Music is one of the most sacred skills humans possess for no other species on the planet truly comes close to mimicking this treasured ability.

My mission is to help guide you on your quest to making music. I ask very little in return but your full satisfaction in knowing you made the right decision today. Should you accept our time together will be well spent focusing on your strengths in music and eliminating the weaknesses.

I invite you to listen to music, explore different genres and make your mind up as to what you would like to play. Sound is everything so that is my first goal and the hardest to achieve being from a distance. My anecdotes will prove to be useful in getting you to produce the best possible tone quality on the

instrument. Technique is what truly unlocks all doors in music having the ability to play anything comes from scale practice and patterns. Metronomes are a vital part of your success.

Finally reading and basic music theory is the essential skill that separates men from minnows in the sense of making music consistent. The discipline necessary to do this is minimal but important. I trust that you will excel in my class because my methods are tried and true. If at the end of the first lesson you feel you will not progress on your mission with me I completely understand but do think that will be unlikely as I want to share with you my deepest thoughts on how this can be done and in return you will receive the best education possible.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to providing you with some great lessons!

"I spent my first year learning to play guitar via the intranet including many hours spent watching YouTube videos. While I learned many scales, chords, s
ongs and some theory, I never had a clear and logical approach to learning or practice.
My first lesson with Jimmy was an eye opener as I had to re-learn my technique and eliminate the bad habits I copied from the internet. I have completed a number of lessons now and found Jimmy's method has given me everything I was looking for - a solid approach providing music theory and practice routines. My playing has improved dramatically. I am confident Jimmy can help me achieve my music goals."

But Keith make me totally worry free, my son likes him very much, and he really knows how to build the kid’s interests and confidence while learning. Now my son enjoyed himself very much with Keith in their piano time. We are so lucky to find Keith."
