My 6th grader has been taking piano lessons with Carolyn for almost 3 years now. She has been so patient with him, yet encourages and most especially challenges him to be better each week! He looks forward to his lesson with her, and the recitals have increased his confidence as well as his pride in his accomplishments!! Thank you Carolyn!!

My Grandson has taken lessons from Carolyn for a few years. He is 11. He has done very well with her. She knows her stuff and is very encouraging to him. She has recitals every 6 months and he has really advanced. I would highly recommend her.
Karen
Three of our children have taken piano lessons from Carolyn. Our oldest son, who has graduated from college, still plays daily. Our other two sons are current students; both began lessons in early grade school.

Mrs. Calahan is patient, kind, and affectionate with her students. She shows a keen interest in encouraging them to succeed, while tolerating their occasional quirks. Our kids have had the opportunity to play classical pieces, jazz, ragtime, show tunes, and popular music. Their piano playing abilities have progressed steadily under Mrs. Calahan's instruction and her unintimidating approach has allowed them to develop an ever-increasing appreciation for music. We are lucky to have found her!

The technique I practice and teach is all about connection to one's speaking voice, that is, one's truly natural voice. The voice is as unique as a fingerprint, and our goal as singers should always be to sound like the best version of ourselves, not like someone else -- even those that we admire. The most successful singers and performers have voices we recognize and distinguish from others, and that is because they are connected to their own unique and natural sound. As your voice teacher, I will not be teaching you songs. I will teach you how to uncover your own unique voice and produce healthy sound, and we will move forward together from there.

I have transcribed and written several bass books for Hal Leonard's Bass Play-Along series.

I like to teach musicians to learn music theory by learning their favorite songs and then dissecting them to find out what makes them work.

I can teach you to read notes and chord charts and get you ready for auditions and performances.

"I came to Dhauna as an experienced actor looking to work on my vocals. We very quickly csme to the conclusion i was reverse breathing, a habit I may have picked due to stress. It was great having her input and she was very knowledgeable about the industry in New York (I only just moved here). Which felt like a nice wee extra:) we also worked on a monologue and again her thoughts incredibly helpful.

It was great workung with her and I hope to work with her again in the future!"

"Paul is a fabulous instructor!! He is so enthusiastic about what he does and takes his time with our lessons. I have never felt rushed at a lesson and we always use up the entire hour. Paul is also very accommodating when it comes to the practice location. He adjusts his schedule to make it easier for me to commute to the destination of the practice. In addition, Paul picks up music very quickly, so any song you want to learn, he will write the notes down for you and teach you to play it! I highly recommend Paul as an instructor because he is very good at what he does."

"Mary was wonderful. I was apprehensive about my total ignorance of the instrument and my physical capacity to perform a task that involve the lungs. Since I am an old old lady this was a little challenging not only for me as a student, but also for a teacher. Experienced Mary knew how to inspire in me confidence. Her clear explanations gave me knowledge I needed, and little by little I became making the sounds that were so incredible amazing. Mary has a natural sweetness, a serenity that easily transmits determination, courage and faith. What a marvelous choice I made picking her as my instructor. I am optimist that one day I will play some of my favorites songs of my past happy days."
