About Roseann

I have been teaching piano for almost 40 years. I have a NY state music teachers license, a masters in music therapy from NYU, and a bachelors in Music Education and AFFA certification.
I try to keep the student self-motivated by using music that the student likes, as well as covering the basics. I use props which can be internalized by the student and gradually removed. For example, using stick-on letter names for the notes for a beginner and then removing them one at a time when the student feels ready.
I am friendly and very easy going; I'm not a disciplinarian. If a student doesn't practice for some reason, we practice together at the next lesson. If a student doesn't want to practice at all, I can be very creative in motivating them. I don't believe in parents forcing their children to practice, because this tends to turn the child

off. Even though I tell parents that if your child doesn't want to play, please don't force it; I tend to keep students for many years (maybe it's because the student's self-motivation is so important to me and to their success).
I also have a lot of experience teaching handicapped individuals as a certified music therapist.
The music therapy has enabled me to be a better teacher in general because the therapeutic aspect comes up in all lessons, in one way or another. Music educators focus on the educational goals of music, while music therapists focus more on the therapeutic goals . A therapeutic goal might be increasing concentration span or self-confidence. These issues often need to be addressed in all lessons, and can only help the learning process.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a very easy-going teacher and aim to motivate you. As a music therapist, I have much experience in making each lesson a positive learning experience for you. Most of my professional experience is in teaching piano.
Music intrigued me as a child because I saw learning to play as a great challenge. Because learning to play an instrument can be overwhelming to a student, I have learned through years of teaching to make it understandable - to break it down into steps that will leave you feeling a sense of accomplishment and thinking "I can do this".
I prefer to teach piano lessons, all styles and levels, music theory, music therapy and beginning guitar.
I also teach beginner vocal lessons, and lessons in how to keep the beat
I must add that I have a busy schedule and if a student needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson, I need them to let me know at least 24 hours in advance, or the student will be charged for the lesson.
I'm an animal lover and rescued a homeless cat who lives at the studio. I keep the studio very clean, but
if you're allergic to cats, you may want to consider another teacher. Thank you

*** Studio Equipment ***
Room before living room w/ piano computer, amp seating for parents, Baldwin Professional Upright Piano.
Korg Pa3X keyboard workstation, Yamaha 88 key digital keyboard with Yamaha hammer action (meaning it feels and plays like a real piano - not mushy and easy to press like most keyboards; thereby allowing finger muscle development), Kustom amp, Yamaha 6 string guitar, Ibanez electric guitar, clarinet and a flute. I also have an enormous music library.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I play for various events with the Korg Pa3x, where a one person band is required. I also play the acoustic grand pianos in several independent livings centers in Westchester County as an entertainer or to accompany sing-a-longs.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, popular, classic rock, top 40, jazz. I teach a thorough classical approach and chord method playing for older students or others who simply want to learn to play quickly.

Skillful and professional instructor.

Roseann has a very pleasant personality and makes learning the guitar enjoyable and exciting for my six year old daughter. She gives clear and concise instructions that my daughter can understand and follow on her own while practicing at home. I would highly recommend Roesann to anyone interested in learning the guitar.

Private Singing Teacher
About Carolyn

I earned my degrees in music and elementary education at Southeast Missouri University. I taught music in school for seven years. in 1989 I began teaching only privately . I am constantly aware that the best way for students to learn is a program individually planned for him or her. I love teaching all ages..Through the years I have expanded my lessons to provide performance opportunities for those students who are interested.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each lesson is geared toward that one individual. I am familiar with all the music book publications so I pick and choose from them for each individual student.
Every lesson will be a positive experience with little treats at the end of their lesson. For the students who would like to participate we have recitals at Steinway Piano Gallery every three month.
For the vocal students wh

o would like to participate we do singing performances at Retirement Homes . I have many costumes from which to choose for the characters. Some of our favorite shows are Wizard of Oz, Sound of Music , Disney and Phantom of The Opera.
I Am located in the Crestwood,Webster, Kirkwood, South County area.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In my music studio I have a console Baldwin and a baby grand. I have microphones and audio equipment for practice for voice students. I record all voice lessons that the student takes home to practice.

*** Specialties ***
I design my lessons to fit the student I am teaching. I give certificates for progress. Stickers are given to younger students.
I am open to a wide range of music for piano and voice. My main interest is guiding you to your goals be it simple or accomplished. I've just started with Carolyn and have had only 3 lessons. She is very patient and encouraging. I have been singing in church choirs and community choirs most of my life. Just recently, I joined a non audition choral society that performs classical music and more demanding music. I was told that no one wanted to sit beside me because I was singing the wrong notes. If they thought that would deter me, they were wrong. I did drop out of the spring concert because I didn't have much time to improve. I have always wanted to take singing lessons but never created the opportunity. I am determined to learn to sing well and to join the choral society for the Christmas concert. I believe that Carolyn is the teacher who can help me achieve this goal.

Rediscovering piano

After almost 20 years away I'm really enjoying taking piano lessons again. Carolyn has been great about tailoring lessons for an adult beginner, and focusing on the type of music that I want to play. She has also been flexible working with my schedule, something I very much appreciate.

The #1 mistake most students make when looking for a voice teacher is that they learn and train a style of singing that doesn't match the style of singing that THEY want to do! Why take classical lessons when you want to learn to sing pop/rock songs on the radio, rock out at karaoke, or belt out mainstream tunes? Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to notice your voice strengthen and have more resonance. As time goes on you'll be able to bridge between the registers (so your voice is smooth and resonant at the places where it might crack now). I specialize in making the head voice sound chesty or belty, and I typically use Robert Lunte's TVS training system. I love working with adult students of all experience levels, especially those who want to discover their own voice and I can't wait to meet you!

About Anna

Welcome!

It's never too late...

I have always loved singing...in fact, I dreamed of being a singer my entire life...but never pursued it...until I went through a divorce a few years ago.

I co-parent with my former husband...and I was heartbroken during the times when I didn't have my two young kids with me.

So, I decided to make the most of my new "free" time...I invested in singing and guitar lessons. I spent a year with a wonderful teacher who taught in the classical style. I was singing arias and other classical pieces. But, really, I wanted to be able to sing along with Lady Gaga and other radio favorites from my past.

However, even after over a year of 1:1 voice lessons, I still couldn't sing along!

I was so deflated and disappointed! I didn't realize that I the style I was learning would effect WHAT I could s

ing.

In my search to learn how to sing like a contemporary singer, I found Robert Lunte's TVS technique. Within a few weeks, I was finally able to bridge my registers (so that I could smoothly sing from the lower chest voice to the upper register).

And after a short time, I could belt out songs from popular artists like Heart, the Cranberries, Lady Gaga, and Sinead O'Connor.

I'm so passionate about this technique, and I wish I knew about it at the beginning of my singing career.

So, my advice is...if you want to sing opera, then learn the classical style.

But...

If you wanna sound like a popular, contemporary artist of today, then I'd love to share this technique with you.

It's not required, but I've found that the following makes your singing lessons more productive:

*microphone (so you can practice holding and singing with it now!)
*amplification (a simple karaoke machine works great, or a guitar amp)
*inexpensive keyboard (you don't need to know how to play, but it gives you a reference for singing notes)

Thanks for reading and I am here to answer any questions you may have!

About Gina

I have been in the entertainment industry for over twenty years! I sing baritone in a competitive female barbershop quartet Fource of Nature, along with playing trumpet, harmonica, and lead vocals in my band Campus Drive.

My decision to acquire a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Vocal/Choral Music & Master of Arts in Education from Lindenwood University was based on my love of performance and encouraging today’s youth. She has taught ages that range from pre-k through adulthood.

I have been quite blessed to be teaching for eleven years and could not think of anything else I would want to be doing with my life.

"As mostly a backing vocalist in my band, I needed a teacher who could take me from an intermediate level to advanced. The result is the lead singer notic
ing my improvements to the extent that more lead vocal parts are now being assigned to me. Sergio is patient and non-judgmental, creating a space to start wherever I am at the time and climb the ladder of skill at my own pace. His astonishing insights of the areas I was struggling with helped me laser in on them. So glad I went weekly with him for three months of improvement that would have taking me years on my own or with marginally helpful Youtubes. Go pro! Go Sergio!"

"I have been taking lessons with Andrew for 8 months now, and I couldn't be happier or more grateful.

Andrew is extremely talented and knowledgeable. H
e is continually researching new methods to help me improve my working theory knowledge and musical skills. He is always providing me with challenging objectives that help me grow as a musician. He never makes me feel like I'm not doing well but instead is incredibly professional, fun, and supportive and helps me work through difficult pieces.

His lessons are meticulously tailor-made to fit the student. I started out desiring to improve my vocal skills but later asked Andrew to incorporate some advanced piano skills along with my vocal lessons. Since then, he has developed unique lesson plans to include singing and playing piano together and even composing and performing my own unique songs.

As far as scheduling, Andrew has been very flexible and understanding. It seems like every other week, my schedule changes and Andrew has been able to flex and meet with me at varying times.

Overall, it is clear that Andrew's focus is all about helping his students develop confidence and be the best that they can be. He always asks about my personal life with genuine interest and is engaged during conversation. I have never taken formal vocal lessons before and was not sure what to expect. I would recommend him to new students of all ages and levels. I couldn't have asked for a better experience."
