Welcome! My name is Rob Meltzer and I am professional cellist, string music educator and conductor in the DC Area. I've been playing cello for over 20 years and I have taught various age groups in public school and private studio settings for almost 10 years in Indiana, Philadelphia and Washington DC areas.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Education from DePauw University (2010) and a Masters of Music in String Pedagogy from Temple University. I am certified K-12 instrumental/general music teacher in the state of Virginia. Currently, I am an orchestra director in Fairfax County Public Schools, I perform locally and teach from my home studio in Arlington.

I love to engage my students (of all ages) in various ways and find how they learn the best. Most importantly, having fun and working through the learning process! My philosophy is that
we never stop learning! I consider myself a student always learning from my own students!

I look forward to offering my musical expertise and experience working with you to grow musically, technically and to reach your goals!!

He is an awesome tutor, and I learn a lot from this lesson. Unlike my previous tutor, he uses his cello to demonstrate things. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to improve at playing the cello.

Lipeng is very patient and encouraging for my beginner 11-year-old, using the video format well to demonstrate the songs and watch the student. She has been a good fit for a player who is motivated to improve but can complain a little bit about practicing everyday.

Very first lesson with Lipeng and I enjoyed it so very much. Lipeng encourages to listen to the music and then accentuate the notes to make it music, not to simply play them.

About Terry
With over ten years experience teaching music, I have worked through all sorts of technical and educational issues with students. Anything that you’re struggling with in your playing, or even if you’re just starting out I have the proven experience and competence to help you navigate your instrument. I can prepare you for shows or auditions, or just help you begin to fine tune your abilities. I use a traditional methodology, Hal Leonard, to give students visible structure that they are progressing through and can measure their progress by quickly revisiting previous songs. I like to introduce students to additional concepts beyond the books to help them make sense of what they’re playing. Theory, scales, and technique are smaller, but regular components of education with me. If you have a song you want to learn or an artist that you want
to study, you’ve come to the right place. I have flexible availability and can advise in the purchase of new or upgraded equipment. I invite you to try a lesson with me, there’s no obligation to commit to any more than you’re ready for. Whether you’re 5 or 75, I have the prowess and comprehension to help you achieve your music goals, whatever they may be.

Terry helped me to improve tremendously at guitar. He even showed me great ways to play a couple songs that weren't intended for acoustic. I love what I'm playing and under Terry's tutelage, I keep getting better. I tried three other teachers before I found Terry and I couldn't be happier, he really understands guitar.

About Brad
I've been a drummer for over 35 years. I LOVE music and I LOVE working with musicians/students with passion! I've been teaching since 1997 and run my own music school in Michigan called The Beat Lab. I currently teach over 100 students per week, in both private and group lessons! I am also the Applied Percussion Instructor at Northwestern Michigan College, the percussion instructor at the Homeschool Partnership through the Traverse City Area Public Schools, and teach beginning percussion at the Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools.

As a live and recording drummer I've had the pleasure of working with The Accidentals, Miriam Pico, David Chown, Dominic Fortuna, Brian Whitscell, The Traverse Symphony Orchestra, Encore Winds, and many others. As a worship drummer I've had the pleasure of sharing the stage with musicians such as Paul Langf
ord, Joe Horness, Abe Laboriel Sr., and many others.

My teaching centers around a few basic principles of music. Mastery of these principles allows the student to progress at an exponential rate. I value reading music, as I believe it makes the learning process faster and more efficient, not to mention the fact that it makes the player much more marketable, should they decide to pursue music as a career.

I teach drum set (rock, jazz, latin, etc.), concert percussion (snare, bass drum, timpani, marimba, triangle, etc), and marching percussion.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you on your journey through music!

I took lessons with Brad for a little over 10 years before departing for Interlochen Arts Academy for my senior year of high school. To say this amazing experience not have been possible for me musically without Brad would be an incredible understatement. Brad was always open to whatever I was interested in musically, and let the music guide everything. Aside from being an amazing teacher, Brad was also an amazing mentor. He served as a great role model to me, and was incredibly influential to me as a person, not just a musician. It really is impossible to put into words the impact that Brad has had on me.

Mr. Denton was a fantastic teacher! We worked on articulations and phrasing in the first movement of the Halsey Stevens Sonata and he was able to bring a lot more out of me musically than I thought I was capable of. He made excellent use of the 30 minute online lesson and I came away feeling more confidant as I approach my recital.

Bill Denton has a wealth of knowledge and a great personality. He knows exactly how hard to push you as a student and balances it with plenty of positive feedback. It would be wise for students to take this incredible opportunity to study with a principle trumpeter of a great orchestra.
